I think it may only be for the UK store but The Times is offering 5 free downloads for the next 8 weeks - 40 in total. They're also offering Master & Commander as a free audiobook from Audible. Registration is required.

29. Sat Jul 16th: Master & Commander - Audiobook (free via The Times)
???????????
i only found the way from audiobook.co.uk
ok, thanksApplespider said:You have to do it via Audiobook and then when it downloads, it will load itself into iTunes.
Applespider said:Good spot! This week's tracks are
1. Martin Grech: Father and Mother Figure This 22-year-old from
Aylesbury released his second album, Unholy, last month. Recorded shortly
before Unholy's release, Father and Mother Figure features Grech's trademark anguished vocals.
2. Tom Vek Live from London: I Ain't Saying My Goodbyes Vek makes
smart electro pop with a copper bottom base. I Ain't Saying My
Goodbyes is a live favourite and showcases Vek's way with a tune.
3. The Faders: Jump (Live) This gritty girl band is tipped for big
things. Jump, a rousing anthem, is evidence of their potential; it's
catchy as hell with shedloads of attitude.
4. Frank Popp Ensemble: The Catwalk (Instrumental) Popp is a German
DJ who is in love with Stax, Motown and modern house. The Catwalk takes
Green Onions and coats it with 21st-century sparkle.
5. Lucie Silvas: The Longer We're Apart (Live on Parkinson)
Silvas is easy on the eye, but she's much more than that. She has a fine
set of lungs which she shows off to great effect on this out-take from
her Parkinson appearance.
Number 4 we've had before as a free download of the week.

The Wonder Stuff

Black Velvets
The Glamstar, This Liverpool outfit are graduates of the Rolling Stones School - of music and hair
Lisa Miskovsky
Lady Stardust, She has uniquely been described as the solo female equivalent of the Eagles
Joy Zipper
Thoughts a waste of time, This My Bloody Valentine-style rock is a palatable matter of promise fulfilled
Stephen Fretwell
Run, The promising singer-songwriter's Dylan-flecked debut record has
hooked many fans already
Fretwell will be the next 'Live in London' gig on August 2 incidentally.
The free audiobook for the day is Lemony Snicket, A Bad Beginning (A Series of Unfortunate Events) narrated by Tim CurryMaster
EDIT - Can anyone get any of these working? The audiobook one is taking me to a standard home page (going in 'logged out' gets me to last week's download). I got my code for iTunes but iTunes is telling me that this is no longer available... I've mailed the Times in case it's a bigger bug but they only monitor Mon to Fri apparently.
I'm in the wrong country (ya know, the one that speaks English, has a red, white, and blue flag, and where people drive on the wrong side). But in case it helps to know this, the Lemony Snicket audiobook is permanently free in the U.S. store, and [playlistId=37088341]this[/playlistId] is the link to it.Applespider said:EDIT - Can anyone get any of these working? Both work for me now (Sunday morning)Knox said:The iTunes code works for me now, but the audiobook link is still broken it seems.
Yes. I assumed Applespider was referring to the same audiobook interview. Is it the full story instead?Knox said:Is that not just an interview with the author, rather than the actual audiobook itself?
Yes. At least it is 2 hours 49 minutes long and doesn't sound like an interview.Doctor Q said:Yes. I assumed Applespider was referring to the same audiobook interview. Is it the full story instead?

And the audiobook is Emily Bronte's Wuthering Heights read by Martin Shaw (wasn't he one of The Professionals? Reading Wuthering Heights?)
