I had a Gigabyte GTX 750 Ti too, could not play DRM movies in iTunes then in El Capitan. However, this was my only card with this issue.

If I remember correctly MVC told that the only recommendable card is the EVGA GTX 750 Ti.

I have no problems in HS with the Nvidia Web driver with:
- GT 630
- GTX 680
- GTX 980 Ti
- GTX Titan X
- GTX 1080 Ti

Well, its Asus GTX 750 Ti card and worked fine in Sierra. Also, worked well in High Sierra initially, but after reinstall of the system, couldn't get it work. Will move the card to a Windows system. I had more luck with ATI, I don't know why. ATI Radeon 6570 still works fine in Yosemite installation without any added drivers (just with native drivers); similarly ATI Asus Rx Pro 560 2GB works fine in High Sierra with native drivers.

Seems like you're missing few things here.
ATI cards either have drivers provided by Apple (native, OS drivers) or they don't work. ATI provided drivers only for 64 bit 10.7.5-10.8.3 for their HD7950 cards.
Nvidia is comparable to that if you have Kepler gen card or earlier (GPUs that came in MacBooks and iMacs) because Apple is also providing drivers for them in OS.
Everything newer (Maxwell and Pascal) has to have Nvidia web drivers installed before booting the OS with that GPU.
In contrary you'll end up with black screen or reboot loop.

I am not missing anything.
Nvidia cards (like my former Asus GTX 750 Ti require web drivers for full functioning and graphic acceleration. OS drivers are not enough for that. Without web drivers, its nearly impossible to use them for anything except initial login.
ATI cards are natively supported from 10.2.6. You don't need any additional drivers for ATI cards.

Without web driver, you will have black screen on a unflashed 750Ti, absolutely nothing to display, not even for initial login.

well, not exactly. Without web drivers, with native Apple Nvidia drivers, unflashed 750Ti works fine, just without acceleration.
 
Half a week now running my P4000 in my Mac Pro. No problems still. Sleep is fine, video is fine, finder fine, no crashes, no ghosting when moving windows.

I must admit that I am almost willing to bet the the nvidia issues and glitches that people have may not actually be the drivers fault.

That’s exactly why owbp said you miss something. 750Ti is a Maxwell GPU. And there is NO native driver in any MacOS for any Maxwell GPU up to this moment.

If you were talking from your experience. Highly likely your card is not a unflashed 750Ti.

Nonsense. I have Asus GTX 750 Ti 2Gb, unflashed and it works out of box in High Sierra which has Nvidia Apple drivers. You would better check facts. It works but without acceleration which requires web drivers.

You're describing, 1 for 1, behavior of EFI flashed GTX 750 ti in Mac Pro.

Although, what you are saying can be correct if you are talking about Hackintosh.
But this is Mac Pro sub-forum, so i don't know what to think...

If you have an unaccelerated screen. Then please make a screen capture to show us which Apple driver is loaded for your 750Ti. The kext simply not exist in any MacOS, how can something work which not even exist.
 
Anybody found that since the security update their screen is all funky colours? I'm often finding blues are showing orange and interactive web page elements have a weird orange discolouration too.

Have you disabled "Use LCD font smoothing when available"?

Btw, anyone know of the alternative to Flat Package Editor?
I've extracted Distribution file from WebDriver, edited OS req, but FPE won't run in High Sierra... Didn't know that up until now.

Edit: @h9826790 It didn't change os version after Terminal update. I've rebooted and installed WebDriver through VNC but it would be great to find alternative to FlatPackageEditor so that it can be all done in one run.

Glad you found it. I was thinking for a long time that i have corrupted FCPX installation and/or that my Dell monitor is just awful like that until i unchecked that option :D

Thanks for the info. Will study on that. I am now out of town. Can’t test it. But this terminal update method was extracted from the RX480 thread. They need update the OS, and edit the kext before reboot few months ago.

One of the member claim that the OS version number will be changed before restart. I will look into that when I back home. May try something like logout / login. Or try to force run the web driver installer after terminal OS upgrade, etc. Since we know it’s the correct driver in this case, force installation has virtually no extra risk.

I really want to find out a way that can perform OS upgrade and web driver installation without flashed card, other GPU, or remote control.

I've tried sleep and wake (stupid, i know), but was too eager to finish it without having to put GT120 back, so i didn't try to log out.
Well, with extraction of Distribution file from WebDriver package (via Pacifist) it's very easy to change required OS for installer to run. But then i tried Flat Package Editor to put distribution file back, just to find out that it won't run on High Sierra. I'll try to find something that can do the job, because in that case we're safe with non flashed nVidia whenever update comes.

Well, I just updated - System build is (17C89) not the (17C88) I expected, and of course the Nvidia web driver does not work

Wow, that's strange. My build is 17C88 after update through the Terminal (doubt it makes any difference).
At least you are saved by the EFI, i would have to put my GT120 back in... I hope nVidia will come out with driver soon.

17C88 is the build number for the normal update 17C89 is the build number for the Combo update. Dunno why Apple did this.
