Great!, This is what I've been waiting for...
The only thing is SIP can only make calls but not receive them.

I have voxalot running on SIP, but when I try to call any of my voxalot registered numbers from another phone, Fring doesn't ring...

Very BIG bug in FRING,

It will not accept mail adress like name.lastname@gmail.com , i mean that it will not accept the dot ".".
Very annoying for those who have this kind of mail.
Skype voice is good but with a delay.

Yes, I'm having this same problem too. I have a name.lastname@gmail.com address, and it just won't accept. "Error: Please enter a valid email address"

Oh well, looks like I'll have to use my old H0tm@!l........ :(

Please fix it, Fring!

Oh. Hmm. Back when I used Fring in jailbreak days, I had an account with my name.lastname@gmail.com address, and it worked.
Just tried logging in with my old username. It works! Looks like they ported the database over! Yay!

For some reason I cannot make any Skype Out calls. After it starts to ring, it immediately says Call Terminated. I've tried 2 different Skype accounts and they both have the same problem. I can make calls out fine through Cellular though. Also, I can dial out fine via Skype on my Mac. I've tried unsubscribing and re-subscribing Skype a few times to no avail.

Anyone else having this trouble or have any suggestions?

*EDIT* Just in case anyone else is having this issue... I was able to dial out using Skype Out after adding +1 to the number. It seems you have to have the country code before the number.

I am also experiencing this problem. Formatting the number as +15554443333 does not solve the problem. However, formatting it as +115554443333 allows approximately 20% of the calls to go through. Anyone have any solution or thoughts on this?

if you cant call landlines or other mobile users whats the point??? So if the person im calling is sitting in front of their computer and has a skype account and I have wi'fi I can call them? thats it....?

For less than $30 per YEAR, you can have unlimited calls to landlines and cells within the US (or your country of choice) via a Skype unlimited plan. Sounds pretty sweet to *me* !!!

It seems you have to dial the country code...bummer. A number in the US would be 00 1 310-555-5555

Hope this helps...

**EDIT**: What I wrote above is no longer working for me. Well, it works 1 out of 10 attempts. I have no idea what the fix is....bummed

you probably know this, but I'm fairly certain that Gmail now allows you to remove or add a period in an email address and the addresses are treated the same.

Still an annoying bug if in fact it exists (i haven't checked to confirm) but in case you didn't know this, it's a work around..

I don't like that app at all.
When I use it my screen goes black. So I need to go back to the Home Screen and then come back to Fring.

Yes, it is an annoying bug but you are absolutely correct about the periods in gmail addresses. You can remove them or move them around (ie. you can make a filter that keys to a period in a different place).

I also discovered this fring bug so I just removed the period and went on my way.

voipbuster ipkall voxalot

I managed to get voipbuster working on my ipod touch 2g. My advise is to use voipbuster since after an initial 10 Euro payment it's 0 cent to most western countries. Get a free voip in phone number at ipkall (Washington number), link it to voipbuster (which is cheaper than skype and 0 cent to most western countries) via voxalot (free too). In fring on iphone or ipod touch choose SIP --> other and fill out your voxalot username, voxalot password and for proxy us.voxalot.com. Works like a charm. I can both make and receive phone calls. In case you want a local and not a Washinton (360) number you can try to get a local number via Grandcentral and hook that up to your free ipkall 360 number.

You can find details on how Alpineman hooked up his Trio in a similar way in post #55 in following blog:

Cheers and good luck.

still a bit confused

i am a bit confused still with this program.. do i have to have sip/or skype to make outgoing calls?

my ultimate goal is to make calls in my home, cause i dont have service. i dont care if it uses up my minutes i have from att. so if i enter someone phone number (+15168885282) would it make the call through the wifi and use up my minutes with att?

why would it be pointless to use if i make most of my calls from home and when im out its passed 9pm. i could drop my minutes down if i could use this and save money.

Past 9pm would be "nights and weekends," which here in the United States
is either "unlimited" or "5000 minutes" depending on your voice plan.

It is awesome, period

Nothing beats the capability of doing VoIP + free of charge!

I foresee a boom in iPod TOUCH sale (if Fring is not to be pulled from the store) :apple:
