Cool. I've used Odin a lot, but never realized you could use it without root. I think the locked bootloader of the ATT Note 4 wouldn't allow a flash though so I would assume us ATT owners would be stuck with Lollipop if we upgraded. I'm not sure though.

I'm not sure either but my hunch is att models cannot downgrade like you said. I'm curious why though because im not sure that Odin requires a bootloader unlocked.

Apparently AT&T are rolling out 5.0.1

If anyone here has an AT&T Note 4 and updates to lollipop let us know how its performing battery, memory management etc...

----------

Test open app performance. Open maybe 9-10 apps and see if your device has to refresh app content more than it did before. Check my video earlier in the thread.

Since you have the newest version they've rolled out - it would be nice to see if they have fixed app refreshes / memory managment.

I'm downloading it now. I'll report back in a couple of days. It's hard to know what's what with an update until you really take it for a spin and live with it.

As long as your flashing an official firmware and you don't have custom recovery and all that stuff - you can flash official firmware without trouble on with ODIN. At least for european handsets anyway.

Are the European handsets using Exynos or Snapdragon?

Best Buy includes the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, dropping the price by at least $100 depe

Looks like US only but.....

Best Buy includes the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, dropping the price by at least $100 depending on carrier

Best Buy is offering a sale on the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 through March 29, which brings a cost savings of at least $100 to the device on contract. AT&T and Sprint models are discounted by $100, dropping the price to $199 on contract. The Verizon model is discounted by $200, making it only $99 on contract.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 features a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 2.7GHz quad-core processor with 3GB of RAM inside. As far as storage goes the Galaxy Note 4 comes equipped with 32GB of on-board memory, allowing you plenty of space to save pictures from the devices 16MP camera. Both Sprint and AT&T have rolled out the Lollipop update for the Galaxy Note 4, but we still wait for the update to land on Verizon.

Along with the Galaxy Note 4, Best Buy has discounted the price of a few other devices as well. For just $299 the Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1 can be yours in white or black, and the Galaxy S5 is down to just $1 on contract during the sale. Best Buy is also offering discounts on some Samsung accessories too, so be sure to check them all out. If you have been looking for a good deal on a Galaxy Note 4 you will want to act quick with this one ending on Sunday, March 29

Well updated to lollipop on an ATT Note 4. Meh, I utterly hate all the white stuff with Material design. Pulldown shade is all white, sigh, but functions about the same. Lockscreen notifications are nice, although I haven't figured out if you can launch the app from the lockscreen.

I do notice it's slower overall, KitKat for me was quite snappy. In lollipop the multi window is significantly slower. Overall the entire phone feels a bit slower, not a deal breaker at all. I would probably downgrade back to KitKat but I like the safe zones for keeping the phone unlocked too much.

I wish there was a way to change the color schemes of Material design with an unrooted phone. Heck even Nova launcher has that ugly white design and I don't see any options to change color.

Thats weird, I find my Note 4 faster on Lollipop. I got 5.0 when it came out in Germany, I hated the whole Silent Mode issue and went back to 4.4, but found that 4.4 was slower, so went back to 5.0 due to it being faster and smoother and a few days ago I did the BOC3 Update which fixes the Silent Mode mess Google made.

Yeah I'm on the DBT thread over - how are you finding performance of the new TPD Netherlands release? Others are complaining about battery life primarily on that one.

I find 5.0.1 Lollipop on my AT&T Note 4 faster compared to 4.4. It seems that 5.0.1 made the fingerprint scanner better too.

Really?

I feel no difference in battery life, it seems the same as on DBT, the only diff on thir TPD FW is the Silent Mode being brought back other than that the phone feels same as always.

How are you finding multitasking. Any issues refreshing apps like mine was?

I'll keep my eyes open tomorrow, I haven't had time to even look at my phone these past few days. The main things I use are Chrome, Waze, Messages, email and google voice. They seem to be working fine, it's mainly the multi tasker that is much slower than it was on kitkat. I'm bummed because everyone else says it's faster. GPS also is degraded, the GPS was already crappy but now it seems a bit worse.

Thats strange, my expierence is the opposite, my phone is noticeably faster. Before I would have a 5-10 sec when I first brought up the multitasking bar in a while, after it would load much faster, but the first time was always a huge delay. Google maps also loads much quicker and bringing up the recent app tray is also much faster, before it was a 2-3 sec delay and now its around 1 sec. Plus other little bugs, such as typing was wonky before and characters would randomly show up, now is working like it should. My antutu score also went up, I was getting around 45,000 before and I just got over 51,000 on my latest test.

I did do a fresh install, so not sure how much of that improvement is from that and how much is from lollipop.

My Note 4 ran faster than others described theirs did I think. On KitKat my multiwindow would open in half a second, even if I had a ton of apps open. Now it takes maybe 2 seconds, still fast but not as fast as I'm used to.

I really think Samsungs QC is terrible. I also had the quirk where when you type you would have random characters show up, the typing kind of froze for a half second then would vomit the letters you were typing. That was only on one of my Note 4 replacements, not on any other one.

I wonder if a fresh install or factory reset would help. I'm just so lazy to reload everything. It's not the end of the world or anything though, I'm still extremely happy with the phone.

Sadly a factory reset didn't solve my lollipop issues on it. Whilst initially it seemed better within a few hours all my problems were back.

I do find it funny that they stopped rollout here to German devices which were first n910f devices to get it (my device is German and now on Kitkat it says i have latest version) and then seemingly moved to put out the update on TPD devices here - which is actually the code for Samsung Experience Store devices in the Netherlands. Not normally devices that would be seen in public hands outside of the store. Suggesting that they decided to stop this soak testing to german consumer devices and iron out bugs on Experience Store devices.

Over a month (6 weejs later) and despite these issues with European n910f lollipop release they still went ahead and pushed put AT&T on your side of the Atlantic on the troublesome 5.0.1

The QC is problematic as it does appear they are controlling it by making certain devices with specific CSC'S test devices and whilst one could argue that's them controlling the rollout, it's certainly not doing anything for quality.

It will be interesting to see if like the German release of 5.0.1 if after a week the AT&T update becomes unavailable to users via Kies or OTA

Well I don't think I can control myself any longer. I'm going to pick up the note 4 today. I think I did well to hold off buying it for 4 months lol

My sister has a Note 4 and received Android Lollipop but hasn't installed it yet. Should I tell her to hold off for now? Seems there are lots of users here complaining about different bugs and issues. Anyone who hasn't experienced any issues after installation?

Even with the problems I had which mostly apps refreshing content aggressively (poor memory management compared to KK) and contacts stopped working bug - other than those the user interface was snappier than KK. There was still a delay when going to recents, but the makeover of system apps was so needed. Back to KK now I miss those aesthetic changes, but performance is better on KK overall for me.

The thing is also that your sister may not even notice aggressive memory management or get the Contacts bug, or Wifi issues some also having - so it depends on if they did, how much it would pee them off.
