Found the Galaxy Note Edge specs:

Its 5.6in 2560x1440 display curves off the right-hand side of the phone, creating an extra area that can be used to display notifications, app controls and widgets.

Inside, the Galaxy Note Edge packs a quad-core 2.7GHz Snapdragon 805 processor, 3GB RAM and 32GB storage (expandable by up to 128GB using microSD). There's also a 3,000mAh battery to keep things chugging along; naturally, it's removeable. There's a 16MP rear camera with optical image stabilisation, and a 3.7MP, f1.9 front-facing snapper – which can snap wide-angle selfies using a new panoramic picture mode.

So it's pretty powerful. I can see the modding community going nuts for this one haha.

No, it is the same as every single flagship that will be released in the next weeks. Hell, it might actually be one of the last flagships to be released with that SoC.

So it has nothing to speak about. Same components as every phone.
Speaking of... Weren't you the one that were bragging something about this phone having a 4k display? I said you didn't knew what you were talking about, and then you quoted phone arena, so you admitted (and samsung too) that I was right.

Agreed. Not sure what the point of one downward curving side is.

Agreed as well.

Pretty cool concept if it can be used as a ticker and how the notifications will display but how do you hold it without hitting the side buttons frustratingly?

I will admit I am impressed by the look of the new Note 4 and Edge but again, it is still made by Samsung, will still have Touchwiz on it which I will never go back to until Android is redone.

Awesome hardware, absolutely terrible software.

More and more it seems to me Samsung does stuff just because they can, not ever stopping to think whether they should. The Verge and Engadget are both in full on Samsung hype mode this morning but oddly this time the comments sections are less enthusiastic than the actual reporting.

No it's not, Samsung said the S5 is for everyone, whereas the Note 4 is more about productivity etc (i.e. business, geeks etc).

OK. Well I get insurance for my devices anyway. So it's not a deal breaker.

I do want a removable battery though.

I am not too sold on the side display gimmick, the prism effect on the front glass to give it the illusion of being curved just reminds me of kiosks at tech and auto shows . While I am sure they addressed my first concern, (spurious unintended inputs), I still like to grasp my phone in a way that would interfere with the button or display functions they want there.

I do like the feature of having a section of the screen be used for various separate functions, It reminds me of the lower ⅓ of my Audi's central display that can show me information separate from any Navigation or other main functions I may have selected.

I will just have to play with one before I decide if I want one or not.

Actually no, not all devices will have the 805 soc, in fact I believe these are the FIRST devices to have it so your wrong to make that claim.
And nope, you're also wrong that I said this phone would have a 4k resolution.

the metal around the phone looks really nice.

It's honestly a really beautiful device. Especially in white.

Looks even better in video:

Too bad I don't want a device that large nor like TouchWiz. But for the phablet category/crowd, this is looking quite nice.

Aye - Samsung should just stick to the Note. It's by far their best and most innovative product.

And it's still the phablet leader by a wide margin. We'll see what Apple and others have to offer as the fall continues on.

a better place
It's alright.... didn't blow me away. Kind of everything that was expected is there, and I was right about 4gb memory being nonsense.

I'd still likely go for a Alpha simply for the size / ergonomics, but with 720p and only 2gb ram - knowing how memory starved for multitasking the S5 is I'm not convinced.

I would actually like a Galaxy Alpha but with perhaps 1080p and 3GB ram, so Samsung has actually put in me a place where despite all their plethora of products - doesn't offer me one that I would rush out and buy... (given I bought the S4 / Note 3 / S5 all on their launch)..

The Note Curve - seems like another niche device released because they can - rather than a real need for it.

So yeah ... Nice but underwhelmed - and a can't seem to see any new radically cool features of the S-Pen either.

It would be nice if for example they made an Alpha sized note 4. That would be compelling to me.

My Vodafone contract ends in December so i will not be buying this sim free. Will start a new contract with three and give the note 3 to my dad i reckon.

Looking forward to seeing the reviews of this. Looks better in all the key areas for me too.

Right - all these lines yet you still can't get a phone that offers what you want.

IMO, the Note series is Samsung's best. They should streamline the Galaxy S line to offer a few sizes with mid-range specs at cheaper prices.

The Note line should be their flagship. Offer the phablet and a smaller one (even with the s-pen) - best specs and released together.

If Samsung were more focused, they could really dominate. But as of now, it seems like they are on their way down.
