It should still have the warranty, I don't believe Samsung checks where you bought it, at least they never asked me when I called for warranty support. With Samsung warranty support being so utterly useless I'd just get squaretrade anyhow, you can get it for eBay purchases.

Okay, with the price difference between what I had before and this, I paid up for the Note 5. I'll be coming back now that it's somewhat more worth it.

Got my Note 5 today :) What a beast! It's nice, perhaps not as well made as an iPhone? But the best Android device I've seen build wise.

Have been sandpapering the Brodit holder and it's not too bad. I do have an issue though which is with my EE SIM it say's my number is Unkown and there is a little sim card picture at the top of the screen with 1 in it.

Anyone know how to fix it so it does know my mobile number for my SIM card? I've tried turning it off, removing my SIM and turning it on, then turning back off and putting my SIM in and turning back on again but still the same. I did try it with my 3 PAYG SIM and it picks the number up for that .

Do I need to call EE and have those text messages sent?

I assume the sim card symbol with 1 in it is just to tell you which sim card is currently active.

I would give EE a quick ring and see if they can adjust some setting on their end too to change it from showing up as unknown.

I have to wait :( I googled it and it seems they need to send the OTA text messages, I used the online chat and was told I have to wait 24 hours from when I put the SIM into the new phone, so I'll wait, I don't think the sim picture and 1 is supposed to be at the top?
Hmm I'll have a look. I should be able to get EE to send the messages tomorrow if needed.

Yeah I'm not sure as mine is a single sim only device but I have seen videos with the symbol your talking about on devices with dual sims.

It's all working otherwise? How are you finding it so far (initial impressions).

If you do stick with TW launcher the material light and material dark themes are very recommended.

Took a couple random shots outside of my work today. Love the camera on the N5.
Tapatalk does compress the photos.

Here is a shot of a manufacturers info tag on a repair I have to do. This was about 20ft up in the air and I didn't have my tall latter, so the picture was taken about 10ft away and zoomed in about 4-5x. Still can't believe the text was legible at this distance. Amazing camera.

Found out the little 1 indicates which SIM is active for the cellular voice calling. Like the phone it's a lot to setup... a bit more to it then my Nexus 5 haha. Trying the Google launcher but may go back to the Touchwiz one. I see I need to use Evernote too to make the most of the S pen.
The wireless charging doesn't work but a google showed a lot of people finding it to be finicky, think I'll have to buy the official Samsung wireless charger for it.

Service was great though, phone delivered as expected from Hong Kong today and it was sent on Friday. So yeah mr MRU you get a big thumbs up from me for your recommendation :D

It's a very nice device I have to say and looks cool with my case on it hehe. It's nice to have fingerprint unlocking too.

The Note 5 also feels a lot nicer than the Note 4 does, more premium, overall a really nice feel, the screen is ridiculously good. Need to decide on the apps I want to use. Get it all setup.... I've been so busy getting my Brodit to fit and setting this and that up I am yet to play with the camera.

Is there a way to set the mute on it by geographical location?

Between the GS6 factory unlocked at $430 vs a Note 5 at $590 factory unlocked, which one should I keep? I like the form factor of a smaller Android device and the IR blaster, but I think the battery life on a GS6 Edge was bad in my past experience. The Note 5 was decent battery when I tried it out, it has better specs, a bigger screen, the S-Pen, and more software features. Huge difference is a $160 price tag.

Just so impressed with this ROM + kernel combo. I am getting amazing battery life even with heavy usage, easily 6h Screen On time. This is as good as my old OnePlus One battery life, and much better than the Nexus 6 battery, and this Note 5 is getting close to iPhone 6 Plus battery life.

Today, I really hammered my phone all day. Unplugged off charger at 6:30am, was on 4G network all day, I used GPS Navigation for like 1 hour this morning. Made a ton of phone calls. Sent a million texts. Did a lot of e-mails. Surfed the web a ton. Watched YouTube tonight.

From 6:30am to now 9:15pm, here is my battery after all of that;

Thank you

So I tried on ad blocker for safari on my 6 Plus and really liked how it improved the web browsing experience, is there a way to do this with chrome on my Note5? Tried looking in the play store and couldn't find one.

I don't know about chrome but UC browser has an ad blocker.

It's a bit different to chrome though.

I'm chuffed with my battery life, it seems to be noticeably better than my Note 4 after a days work.

Maybe I wasted money on the fast charge external battery?

Never thought I'd be complaining that the side bezels are too thin but, after using this for a week now, the amount of times apps are opening or the home screen is going to the settings page or some other unintended touch in an app is ridiculous. It's really annoying to know that I can't hold it how I want to, and in what feels like a natural way, even with a case on it.

Yeah weirdly the S6 Edge plus suffers less in my own use from accidental touches on the sides. Maybe it's slight difference in how you grip it or maybe antitouch rejection algorithm in the edge plus but I definitely make less accidental presses on the + than note 5.

That was my experience as well. I had the S6 edge and traded it for a regular S6. Far too many false touches for me on the sides. That is the main reason I bought the Note 5 over the S6 Edge Plus.

Very nice, I wished I took a screenshot of mine but over the weekend I finally got the best time on my phone 12 hrs+ & 5 hrs+ of screen time with 25% battery left over. Was so amazed and shocked, I forgot to take a screenshot, duh me.

Hey MRU, where did you get your Note 5 from, can't remember the name of the shop...?

So, I found the Google launcher to be pretty fast. But I will have to use the TouchWiz launcher, it is still fast. I like to use the calendar widget and reading up on it, if you use the google calendar then you can't disable the S Planner otherwise it mucks up everything. And under the google launcher the S Planner widget is not available for some reason?

But I've got it all setup now, spoke with EE and my number doesn't need to be displayed in the SIM card if the phones working, had to setup the SMS contact centre though.

Anyway anyone got any tips on how to improve the battery life? I've disabled some of the tracking options.
