So, I found the Google launcher to be pretty fast. But I will have to use the TouchWiz launcher, it is still fast. I like to use the calendar widget and reading up on it, if you use the google calendar then you can't disable the S Planner otherwise it mucks up everything. And under the google launcher the S Planner widget is not available for some reason?

But I've got it all setup now, spoke with EE and my number doesn't need to be displayed in the SIM card if the phones working, had to setup the SMS contact centre though.

Anyway anyone got any tips on how to improve the battery life? I've disabled some of the tracking options.
For me turning off Google Location History always helps battery life.

Likewise expect it to level out after few days. My edge + was great initially then when I put in my sim after unlocking it battery depreciated significantly but now it's back to somewhere in between which is enough to get me easily through my day (I decided to turn off battery percentage indicator so that i wasn't obsessing about it).

How are you liking the edge plus?

Using it as my daily driver right now. Really like the edge plus. I alway lived the aesthetics of the edge but battery life and the ram issue kinda spoiled the party for me.

The extra real estate afforded by the edge copyhold with the extra ram and bigger battery have essentially addressed my main issues.

Sure it's still overly aggressive ram wise but not too the extent where I notice it with my main set of apps open. So it no longer is the consistent pest. And battery life has been noticeably improved. Despite only being around 12% extra capacity, it is yielding around 35% more battery life than the edge

Essentially same as the note 5 however I prefer the edge plus add it feels more balanced in the hand, curved screen feels natural with android swipe from left menus. As much add I like the spen I still prefer the edge plus overall

Yeah I've turned that location history off, also turned off the percentage haha. It is lasting a day but does seem to drain fast, maybe I'll see if it goes two days. Or maybe I'm comparing it subconsciously to my tablet which at 63% after 3 days since charging so far, been using my new phone a lot though haha.

Do you or anyone else know which wireless chargers are known to work with the Note 5? Seems on the forums they are a bit hit and miss, my Nexus one doesn't work :(

AdAway requires root though whereas Adguard doesn't.

OK it needs root ?

I never understood why anyone would buy an Android phone, and at least not root it. That's half the reason to get one, over the iPhone IMO. These phones are meant to be rooted and ROM'd to bring out the best in them.

I understand ROM'ing is only for the 0.5% [H]ard core nerds. But basic root is simple and easy, and does allow some nice benefits and extras over stock.

That's my opinion.

Between the GS6 factory unlocked at $430 vs a Note 5 at $590 factory unlocked, which one should I keep? I like the form factor of a smaller Android device and the IR blaster, but I think the battery life on a GS6 Edge was bad in my past experience. The Note 5 was decent battery when I tried it out, it has better specs, a bigger screen, the S-Pen, and more software features. Huge difference is a $160 price tag.

where did you find a Note 5 at $590 ? I've only been able to find Note 5 for 660 for 32gig..

Thanks, installed it and so far it working great. 2 things though that kind of worry me, it seems to always be running in the background. And from what I understand, it filters my data, which means it sees everything I do, how is it from a security standpoint?

I used it for a bit, but then decided the hassle of using it wasn't worth it so took it off, that was on my Nexus 5. Probably won't bother with my Note 5.

Can someone clarify which model I can use with ATT service? There are a few international models that are easier to purchase then the Tmobile unlocked models for some reason.

It was on sale last week at Monoprice's eBay page. Listed as daily deal. They might put it up today too. I wish I saw the Edge on sale instead and would've gotten that for sure.

Ok not sure if this is normal but I got like 2 hours of on screen time and it only took out like 15% battery life?

My T-Mobile Note 5 setup, giving me around 6h Screen On time, and buttery silky smooth performance;

First you need to root and install a custom Recovery, here are some good videos to watch on how to do this, it's really simple, just follow the step by step directions;
http://galaxynote5root.com/galaxy-note-5-root/how-to-root-galaxy-note-5/

And then the ROM I am using;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-galaxy-note5/development/deodexed-stock-n920taoge-t3186037

Kernel;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/note5/development/arter97-kernel-galaxy-note-5-t3189907

Debloat zip
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2075993

So in a nutshell, you root and install a custom Recovery on your T-Mobile Note 5 first. Download the ROM + Kernel + zip debloater, and throw into the phone. Reboot into Recovery, do a complete system wipe, and then first flash the ROM, and then flash the Kernel, and then flash the zip to run the debloater, it will give you an option for full debloat, go with that. And then reboot, setup your phone and profit :)

Giving my iPad a black background actually does wonders for the battery, and that's an IPS panel and it only affects the background. I can only dream of the effect it would make system wide on an AMOLED display.
