A bug with gmail?
8085245a62ae6fa00b398453bac0b2cf.jpg

I just got a notification that I was close to my data usage for the month. I checked and gmail is using a ridiculous amount of data. Has anyone noticed this? I have attachments set to auto over WiFi only, only thing that's set to auto download over cellular is pictures.

Wow that's insane ... That would have cost me a small fortune based on our meagre data alowances.

Never seen gmail use that much data. Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling ?
Not yet, I'm not even sure if it's still doing it or if it malfunctioned one day and then fixed itself afterwards. I'll be keeping an eye one it, just wondering if anyone had seen something like this before.

Is it set to auto download attachments? That's really the only logical explanation besides a bug.

It is, but only over wifi, and even then I have not received that many attachments. And I just check WiFi usage on email, and it's even more insane.

Yeah, I'm going to have to remove it and install again.
Or maybe just turn off my accounts one by one, I have 5 so maybe one is acting up?

5 reasons to pick the Galaxy Note 5 over the Huawei Nexus 6P
http://www.androidcentral.com/reasons-galaxy-note-5-better-nexus-6p

- S-Pen
- Multi Window apps and apps designed for Tablet sized screen
- Great camera and TW software is actually really good for the camera
- Wireless FAST charging
- Found at Carriers

I can easily flip the script with this one. Five reasons to pick the Nexus 6P over the Note 5:

1) No TouchWiz
2) Less fragile aluminum vs. glass back panel
3) No TouchWiz
4) NOT found at Carriers
5) No TouchWiz

To be clear, my list was made with tongue firmly planted in check. ;) I honestly think the Note 5 is Samsung's best device...ever...and one of the best smartphones available on the market today. I personally really dislike Samsung's software, desire stock Android with timely updates, and refuse to buy a carrier branded phones (no unlocked, carrier free models in the US, Samsung, really?)--enough so that I would forgo what's likely a better camera experience (stock Android camera app is certainly bare bones and no OIS) and wireless charging for the Nexus 6P.

I'm seriously stuck between a Note 5 and a Nexus P, and heavily leaning towards the Nexus P. Dual front facing speakers, getting Android updates first instead of dead last, or never at all, and having no freaking ugly Samsung logo on the front!!! Note 5's can be easily had mint condition for $500 now so it's a pretty even decision in terms of cost.

So to be honest the biggest thing I love about the Note 5 right now is the ability to use my phone to pay for things. I haven't taken out a CC since I got it. I use it when buying anything even if a terminal doesn't have android/apple pay. The magnetic strip thing is awesome, not going to lie.

I don't have pictures right now, i can get those later this weekend. I love my Note 5, naked it's an awesome phone, but a slippery mofo, I'm afraid will drop and crack, so a case is a must when going to work or out and about IMO. At home I run naked :)

Least liked cases :(

Tech 21; = Grade D
https://www.tech21.com/en_us/evo-tactical-tactical-case-for-samsung-galaxy-note-5-black

Great protection, but very wide, and thick, and too plain jane looking. Buttons hard to click. Just not a fan of this one, made the phone heavy like a brick.

Tech 21; = Grade F

Flexible TPU case. This cased sucked, doesn't even fit my Wife's Note 5 snugly, always comes loose.

Ok Case;

Poetic - Affinity case = Grade C
http://www.amazon.com/Affinity-Premium-Protection-Material-Protective/dp/B013A1FTNS

Cool looking case, not thick, but not thin, sort of medium. Offers nice protection, but gets very oily and messy, and the rear of the phone itself needs to be spotless, or else it will be shown through the clear gel. Was ok to me.

Awesome case, must have's;

Ringke slim = Grade A+
http://www.amazon.com/Ringke-Essent...18016&sr=1-1&keywords=note+5+case+ringke+slim

Wow, this case is so thin, and tight, it hugs the phone like a thick skin, and not an actual case. But covers it well enough to keep any scratches from happening, and looks really cool in the matte black, and offers minor protection from small drops. The matte black version has a sort of sticky rubbery feel, in a good way, but still slick enough to slide in your pants. If you want a super thin case, but still offers a bit of protection, that's looks great, this case hands down is the best.

Caseology; = Grade A
http://www.amazon.com/Caseology®-Wa...4418476&sr=1-3&keywords=note+5+case+caseology

Wow, this one surprised the heck out of me, just wow. My Wife hated her Tech 21 TPU case that didn't fit for ****, so I took a gamble on this Caseology salmon colored case. Holy crap this thing is amazing, just blew me away with the fit and finish and feel. The feel on the back of this case, is just so perfect, and the two tone color, with the pink and gold trim, really looks rich, not cheesy at all, but very well done, and classy. Not my color choice, but for my Wife and her White N5, it really does look superb. And yes it's more bulky than the Ringke Slim, but really not that bulky. Out of all these cases I have tried, I would say thickness wise, the Caseology is thinner than all of them, except the Ringke. I am going to buy the Black Caseology now.

Well, it's definitely something with gmail, even when down to one account it kept downloading a ridiculous amount of data, 700mb yesterday. So I've disable all my accounts in Gmail and started using Boxer. With the same accounts with the same settings it's only used a little over 5mb today.

Boxer also seems really good, the ui is similar to Gmail but with a little more customization options. It's free for one account, but $9.99 to get the full version which allows more accounts, seems worth it so far.

Time, because it rules EVERYTHING!
Thought I would update on my Note 5. As you may know I returned it to eglobal as it was just too big for me, they have received the phone and have refunded me the cost minus a £15 administration fee, no restocking fee has been charged :D

I can wholeheartedly fully recommend buying from eglobalcentral. Thanks to MRU for the tip.

Wow, the battery life of these custom ROM's + kernels is blowing me away. My Note 5 is getting me same battery life as my iPhone 6 Plus last year, which was rated my #1 best battery life smartphone ever.

Getting 7h Screen On time with my Note 5, mostly on 4G network, not WiFi.

DarthStalker ROM and Arty97 Kernel 4.2

Unplugged the phone at 6:00am with 100% full charge, and at 10:00pm and 15h 25m later down to 47% battery left, and had used the phone a ton, with 3h 53m Screen On time. I can get close to 8h Screen On time.

So I picked up an S6 Edge last week...

There's a lot I like about it, but I can't deny still being drawn to the Note 5.

Let's see. I'll probably stick with the Edge until Feb/March and then reassess. By then the Note 5 will be ridiculously cheap, it's less than £420 now as it is.

I'm actually enjoying the size of the S6. Forgot what it was like to use a phone one-handed :)

Are you enjoying the iPhone more than edge+?

Nah, both much the same tbh. I use same apps on both so experience is much the same. I do prefer iOS keyboard compared to Samsung's generally, but prefer the number row on the Samsung keyboard.

Resolution wise I honestly can't tell any difference, both excellent screens and with my Edge + set to basic mode (my preference) there is parity across all my devices colour wise so when I'm looking at photos for example they all look the same.

I prefer some things on Samsung Edge & Note 5 like the camera app compared to iOS and Moto's camera apps but other than that I could really live with any of them.

I would hate having to choose as my level of preference is about the same for all and therefore would make it difficult if I had to choose say only 2 to keep.

Essentially I have SIM cards in two devices at any given time, but which two will continue to be swapped around like putting on new socks each day :)

Yeah, right now I'm having hard time deciding which 2 phones to use as my daily drivers. Still using the Note 5 and iPhone 6S, but my 6 Plus is still calling my name with its large screen and my HTC One is also there. It would be so much easier to switch back and forth if I could easily sync sms and mms messages between them.
