Has anyone heard of this issue with the Note 5. Just got one & it charges OK but it will not turn on. Tried the reset by holding the power button & down volume button together, but to no effect?

Never had that issue on my Note 5.. Is the battery fully charged ? When you hold down the power button for a few seconds does the device vibrate ?

Did it work/power on when you first opened it out of the box ?

Appears to be a hardware issue from your description..

Since you just got it, a retail swap should be easy!

How long are you holding them down for?

Hold power button and volume down together for at least 20 seconds. If it doesn't restart you need to get hardware support and I pray you get better support than I did lately.

Wow, frustrating.

Is there a way to remove the widget from the lockscreen?

Yes, you can remove the widget, you have to go into weather settings.

It doesn't even vibrate when I press the power button. I held the buttons down for about 30-40 seconds when I tried resetting it. This was from the first time I tried using it. When I was charging it the battery symbol appeared on screen OK & said it was at 100% power when I took it off charge.

Not good :( can you try connecting it to a computer and see if it can be seen.

If not its looking like hardware support is going to be next port of call.

Only tricky bit about hardware support is as I'm in Europe & obviously the phone isn't sold here so I had to buy it from someone importing the global C model.

Well this gets odder when I got the phone & plugged in the charger for the first time it said it had 61% & then after a while 100% so I naturally assumed it was fully charged.

After leaving it a couple of days I plugged in the charger again on an off chance & it said 0%. Anyway I've got it charging up normally now whilst turned on.

I am using a UK fast charger from my GS6 with it which was advised is OK to use with it?

Yeah that should be perfectly OK. Others have reported the issue you experienced. Hopefully its a one off :)

In my opinion, the Note 5 is still the best Android device released in 2015. If you get a version that can be rooted and ROM'd, the development community is really turning this thing into a beast. No lag, no stutter, just pure butter smoothness, with AMAZING battery life ( 6h Screen On time easily ). Thanks to the great ROM's, and some really good kernel development.

The display is gorgeous, and the camera takes perfect pictures. And the shape and feel in hand with a skin or very slim case makes it easy to hold. For a Phablet it actually is a small phone to hold.

I think the Exynos 7420 SOC has a lot to do with this, and sadly most Android phones in 2015 got the poor SD810, which I am staying far away from. Even phones with huge batteries still have crap battery life, due to the 810 being a drainer and oven. But next years SD820 devices will rock, it is a MAJOR night and day improvement over the 810.

For now, I am saying the Note 5 is the best Android phone released this year. And yes it may even be slightly better than the Nexus 6P, but we'll see.

Curious what's coming next ? What's the next big phone release, that's not a tiny mini like the S7 or M10 ? I'd like to see a 5.5" screen size phone with the SD820 and 4GB RAM, running Android 6.0. I suppose that may be the LG G5 ?

My pick is the Note 5 as being best Android phone in 2015. I haven't gotten my 6P/5X yet, but I still will give the nudge to the Note 5.

I agree, the Note 5 is really one amazing device! ( reminds me of Nokia's N95 series.. )

The audio quality ( wired cans, UHP enabled ) on this beast is beyond rediculous!! It's an eargasm to me :D

Well done Sammy!!

Just making some comparisons to the GS6. It actually has a decent battery life unlike the GS6, the 2K resolution is far more noticeable on the Note than GS6 & useful. The ergonomics are better too, it's the smallest big device I've owned & the screen is actually easier to use than the GS6, the screen feels fat on the latter compared to the Note. The camera is easier to hold steady & the camera bump less noticeable.

I could only get the gold model which I wasn't too sure about, but it's actually OK as it is a very pale colour more like brass than gold.

All in all I'm even more mystified why Samsung wouldn't sell it in Europe.

So a friend of mine was robbed at gunpoint of his Note 4 earlier this year, after everything he got a S6 Edge, liked it, but hated the drop in batt life from the Note 4, fast forward to last week, he got the Note5, he is loving it, but he says the battery doesn't last anywhere near as long as his Note 4 did, but its much better than the S6 Edge.

Got to play with his Note5 and I must say, what a beauty, the curved back makes so much more sense, the phone is very palm friendly. The display and UI are fantastic, not much of a jump from the 4, but great at the same time.
The new SPen is stunning and looks far classier than the 4's.

Overall, nice job Samsung. The lack of MicroSD is the only thing that truly put me off, but we've gone over that many times.

The Note5 is a fantastic device, I'll gladly recommend it to fellow Power Users.

The Note 5's battery will get a lot better in about 2 - 3 weeks of use [ of course, depending on RF and settings ]

My Note 5's battery is now much better than my Note 4s' (both bought 2 weeks apart!)

My battery is about the same from my 4 to 5 for the most part. I have noticed standby is quite a bit better on my 5 though.

Speaking of battery, mines has been on the decline as of late. I have VoLTE off, WiFi calling off (unless I'm in a dead zone) to list a few and I'm only averaging 3hrs of SoT.

Turn off google location history if enabled. Google settings app, location, location history.
I forgot to mention it but yes, Google location is off.

Something is definitely eating my battery, just don't know what

I posted those images before bed, woke up this morning and now I'm at 33%!

Android OS seems to be the issue but not sure exactly what though.
