a better place
I forgot to mention it but yes, Google location is off.

Something is definitely eating my battery, just don't know what

I posted those images before bed, woke up this morning and now I'm at 33%!

Android OS seems to be the issue but not sure exactly what though.

Yeah definitely a wake lock there and something has gone array.

Wipe Cache Partition

Push comes to shove, I'd turn off device. Go into recovery

Galaxy Note 5 Recovery Mode
  1. Power Off the Galaxy Note 5
  2. Press and Hold the Power Button, Home Button and the Volume Up Button at the Same Time
  3. Continue Holding These Buttons Until You See Some Blue Text at the Top of the Screen
  4. When You See the Text ‘Recovery Booting’, Then You Can Let Go of These Three Buttons
  5. Now Wait Until the Galaxy Note 5 Fully Boots into Recovery Mode

Once in recovery, go down to Wipe Cache Partition using volume buttons to navigate and power button to confirm.

Then once cleared restart / reboot device.

Going to give this a shot but I'm not feeling good about it; I'll report back. Thank you MRU.

Wow cool thanks. But it's not exactly like Virtual Home for JB iPhone's which you just rest your thumb lightly on the home button and it vibrates and goes home. This you have to tap, not really hold it lightly. So a little different feel to me.

Really? Maybe it's a bit different for notes. I just tap lightly and itbworks. I'm on an s6. Even the tip of my thumb makes it work. Never have to rest or hold at all. Always a light tap. Like any capacitive buttons. Or the back and app switched capacitive buttons. Feels just the same.

Dunno.

Well i took the root and rom flash route yesterday. I unlocked the BL rooted and flashed Darthstalker rom on my TMO Note 5. It is amazing how much faster and how much longer my battery lasts. My battery uses less power now when idle almost like my IP 6s+ now. Really loving the rom and speed and battery life increases it brought to my Note 5.

Was it fairly easy to root? I'm familiar with the process but with Odin, it can get tricky--that's been my experience.

It was fairly easy and done in just a few minutes. There is a guide in the TMO note 5 section that has a complete walkthrough guide.

Just been offered a good value Note 5.

2 weeks ago I would have jumped at it, but I'm pretty much set on the 6P now.

Wonder if Samsung will officially release it in the UK.

Yeah, the 6P is super tempting, I'd say it's between it and the Note for best android phone. I prefer the extra features offered by the Note, so I prefer that, but if updates and having stock Android are your preference get the 6P.

Yeah I'm currently on a S6 Edge.

I love Samsung hardware more than any other manufacturer. The camera is amazing too. Tbh I know I wouldn't use the S Pen much as I don't need it.

But it's just TouchWiz, I've only had it 2 weeks and it's started hanging a lot already, the RAM management is poor, and the battery life is actually really awful for the way that I happen to use it.

But my wife loves her S6 and the battery life for the way she uses it is just fine.

I think the 6P will probably be more suited to me, just down to personal preference.

I went back to my OnePlus One, as I was itching for some stock type Marshmallow 6.0 goodness, and there are some pretty good CM13 ROM's out now for the OPO.

I haven't used my OnePlus One since the Spring, dusted off the old OPO, flashed the latest firmware, then erased everything, and flashed the best CM13 ROM, got it all setup, and I was like hot damn, Marshmallow is pretty sweat :) I took my SIM card out of my Note 5, and popped in the OPO, and ran it all night and this morning.

Long story short; I am back to my Note 5 and happy as a clam

Short story long; I forgot just how poor the OPO display is, holy cow is it bad compared to the Note 5. Seems like light years apart in technology. The OnePlus One looks like the stone age screen, and the Note 5 screen was built by Commander LaForge on the Starship Enterprise.

And the curved back, I forgot how much I HATE phones with curved backs, my Nexus 6 had that curved back too, and God I couldn't stand that terrible design. It rocks back and forth like a canoe in choppy water when laying on a table. I love laying my phone down on the table and using it while eating, and doing some computer work, and with a flat phone like the Note 5 it's just so simple, easy, and smooth to tap away on it while laying down flat.

One thing was the speed difference, or almost lack thereof in a way. I run Nova Launcher on both phones, and have the speed set up exactly the same to " relaxed", and also Developer options the same too, with 1 second animations. While the Note 5 did feel smoother and overall faster, I can't say the OPO was a lagging turtle or slow motion, the speed difference did NOT feel night and day. Where my rooted and ROM'd Note 5 has ZERO lag, the OPO maybe had a hair hiccup lag here or there, but just a little.

Biggest thing, was how the newer stock Android 6.0 Marshmallow compared to Touchwiz running 5.1.1 did not feel or look, or perform all that different from each other. I am running a Material theme on my Note 5, and it looks pretty cool, and I have stated over the years how much I HATE Touchwiz, just loath it, but not sure what happened, the Note 5's TW + a Material theme is really slick, super smooth and fast, and I admit I like the Dialer, and Contacts, and E-mail, Lock screen better on Touchwiz than I do stock Android.

I don't think anyone likes th OPO or even OPT screen.

As much as I love my Note 5, I could see the OnePlus Three next year possibly being a great phone if;

- AMOLED QuadHD Display
- Similar high end build and flat back like the new OnePlus X
- SD820 processor + 4GB RAM

Which all three above are very realistic for OPO to use on the ' Three '

I know your pain. A few months back I was watching a film with a friend with his OPO in the dark, and the backlight was absolutely blinding and the colour accuracy and contrast was awful. Not sure if the OP2 display is the same, but I'm glad that they moved to AMOLED in any case.
Meanwhile I'm extremely impressed with my S6 Edge+ display. Beautiful colours, amazing contrast, pretty much everything the OPO display isn't. And the curved screen is the icing on the cake. Really brings out the photos, videos and general navigation of the phone. Thank you Samsung.

Yeah, I always hated touchwiz too. And with the stock theme, it's ok. But as soon as the material theme is applied, suddenly it seems great, and if Samsung can ever truly optimize it, it would probably be my favorite skin.

The ' Material Dark ' theme for the Note 5 is amazing, and really makes this phone look so much better, it's outstanding what a theme like this can do for the phone.

Look it up on the Samsung Theme Store, it's free.

I've got to agree. When I got the phone I didn't think I would like Material design, now material and material dark are pretty much the only two themes I use.

I like most of the dark themes.

I'm using circlemosaic today, I love how I can change the (almost total) look in an instant. It's almost the best feature.

Does anyone know how to turn icon labels off? Like how you can in Nova but without using Nova?
I'd love to know how if anyone knows. Thanks in advance.

Black Friday deals are coming up. I am tempted to get SAMs club $300 gift card this Saturday November 4th.

Add a line. Put it on ATT next. $15 activation for new line. Put flip phone on plan. Cancel data plan (I have older plan) where I can add a subsidize or unsubsidized Next line

Msrp is $739.

So like getting phone for around ($739-$300 gift card). Plus add $15 activation fee plus pay $10/month x 3 months in order to than fully payoff Note 5.

So around $500 for the Note 5 for me. Brand new.
