Black Friday deals are coming up. I am tempted to get SAMs club $300 gift card this Saturday November 4th.

Add a line. Put it on ATT next. $15 activation for new line. Put flip phone on plan. Cancel data plan (I have older plan) where I can add a subsidize or unsubsidized Next line

Msrp is $739.

So like getting phone for around ($739-$300 gift card). Plus add $15 activation fee plus pay $10/month x 3 months in order to than fully payoff Note 5.

So around $500 for the Note 5 for me. Brand new.
You can get a mint one on swappa for less than 500, just as another option.

Yeah. That's a good option as well. Just already concerned spending that type of money on something someone may decide 3-4 months down the road to stop paying their bills.

I have only been burned once. But once is too many.

I was eligible for an upgrade in September. Decided to give an iPhone 6 a try. Had it for about two months and sold it. I missed the flexibility of Android OS.

Having had a G3 before the iPhone, I wanted to get a big screen phone again. Bought the Note 5 and I'm quite impressed. the RAM management issue I read and watched videos about isn't an issue the way I use the phone. Battery life in the first few days were subpar but I was also setting up the phone. Now about a week and a half in, the battery life is satisfactory, especially after disabling some apps. Build quality is nice, i like the weight of the phone. The phone's screen is crisp, bright, and big but the phone is manageable in the hands thanks to thin bezels. Also finding the S-Pen quite useful which is a feature I didn't think I would use very much.

Haven't rooted the phone yet. I rooted every Android phone I owned so far. But I don't feel the need to root the Note 5 (yet).

The Marshmallow update for TW looks promising!!! They say TW on Android 6 has no memory issues!

This is TouchWiz on Marshmallow — Note 5 Android 6.0 Leak Hands-On

"TouchWiz on Marshmallow has changed in various ways, and after a few hours of testing it last night and this early morning, I can bring plenty of information about its changes. First and foremost, you’ll be pleased to know I found no memory management issues at all during my usage with the ROM. That being said, this is clearly a test version of Marshmallow and is likely not final, so some things might change come the final release later in December."

lol I know right. C'Mon Samsung....lets get it right this time!

Well in fairness the Note 5 & Edge + aren't too bad anyway (the extra 1gb did noticeably help)

It would be interesting to see if they fix it more for the S6 & Edge which suffered far worse.

agreed! From all the leaks the S6 & edge should be getting Android 6 in December so we will know soon.

Lol, I'm not laughing at you but every year we hear the same proclamation "the next version of Android solves the Touchwiz memory issues".

Can anyone venture a guess when Marshmallow might be released for US carriers? I know it's a crapshoot, but I'm considering grabbing a Note 5 just to play with but don't feel like waiting 9 months for marshmallow. Part of my hope is that ATT enables wifi calling on it, as that's one of the main reasons I stay with my iPhone.

Next month for Tmobile, right? I'm stuck with ATT if I want wifi calling. I'm assuming I can't load this onto an ATT one since it can't be rooted.

Wifi calling is awesome on ATT. It allowed me to finally ditch that piece of junk Microcell. I've been eyeing Note 5's for a while now but man I don't think I can deal with bad reception in my house.

Got the Titanium Silver Note 5 today....Could not resist. The phone is a looker! And I have forgotten how bad Touchwiz was on my Note 3...time for a reminder. However, this version of the Touchwiz, like everyone says, is not bad at all....

Can you post some pictures of the Titanium please? Does it look like a mirror or deep more of a deep matalic? I love the look of this phone but don't want a mirror type effect.

Samsung Pay....once you root and trip Knox there is no going back. Samsung Pay will not work. Even if you go back to pure stock.

So there is no root which doesn't trip Knox? I've made up my mind to grab a Note 5 for use on ATT but I haven't decided if I should get the Tmobile one in order to root it, or the ATT one so I can have peace of mind that it works. It seems the Tmobile one on ATT may be more trouble than it's worth, between having to unlock it, not having wifi calling work on it, and now tripping Knox, maybe I'm better just resigning myself to no root.

The TMO model does have WiFi calling on TMO. Only iPhones have WiFi calling on AT&T so far.
