I'm going to have to go to an E event one of these days and yes, big failed powerpoint presentation. They are getting worst each year for Samsung.

I was at mwc in Barcelona (either 2013/2014) and Sony gave out their flagship devices to attendees after their keynote.

That was fun.

Exactly that, they chose which model to ensure they had enough off to sell in all regions, and they chose the Edge. I think they chose wrong. Should have stuck with the Note and undercut Apple's pricing.

Good point but Samsung is too proud and stupid for that.

Here is a Samsung event I attended, it's a lot bigger than it looks.

It needed some bright flashy lights and i would think you were at a concert or rave.

I wasn't even in the back I was somewhere in the middle.

For every guest there were at least 3 Samsung employees.
It is a lot of fun though.

Have you tried Swappa.com? Not only can you usually sell your device for a higher price, the fees are quite a bit less ($10 for selling and the usual paypal fees). Compared to ebay, they have a better reputation (clean imeis). At present, there are only a few selling for less than $400. Maybe, by adding some accessories, you could get a bit of a bump?

Being a Note 3 user, I was really looking forward to the Note 5. But, I constantly swap batteries. So, that's a disappointment, but because of fast charging, not a deal breaker. Believe it or not, the slimmer body just may be a plus? We'll see how it feels in the hand. If Samsung offers a 64gb model soon, and it's not terribly expensive, I would be okay with the sd card slot omission. Hopefully, some of the s pen improvements will be tempting. Also, I am interested in how the camera performs in real-world tests.

Since I am switching carriers (after 9 years, I am leaving ATT for Tmobile), I will have to wait a little while to upgrade (it will cost me $600-$800 to cut ties with ATT but will save over $1200 for the year). So, I will be reading the ensuing posts for some hands on experiences. Can't wait.

An added thought, the price of Samsung's flagships is going to be a barrier to getting more mainstream customers on board. Yes, Apple has been able to get away with it, but they are the only one to make ios devices. However, Apple isn't immune to consumer's reluctance to paying these high prices; the iPhone 6s will not come close to selling as much as the 6 and 6 plus did. Part of it is that the upgrade probably won't be that great ( the larger screen made a huge difference and it's been done now) and the China market is expected to be less, but also, the prices are getting too high. With Motorola coming out with pretty nice mid-tier devices, many will not pay the price Samsung hopes.
Thought about it, but I don't know if I want to deal with shipping out an item, I prefer to meet the person face to face to make the exchange, with shipping stuff out there's always the possibility of fraud.

Kinda disappointed with today's announcement. I guess the big disappointment for me is its been 6 months since the GS6 was announced and I expected things to move forward, but it's basically a bigger S6 with spen. Actually, they even removed a feature from the S6, no ir blaster on the Note 5.

Still plan on getting it for the performance boost, but if they knew they were releasing the same phone in a bigger body, why not just release it 6 months ago along with the S6?

My impressions on this event and news that came from it--quite simply, Samsung is just out of their minds. WTF are they thinking.

First, they are slowly trying to morph in the Android version of Apple, yet have no grasp on what actually makes Apple, well Apple. It's like they are just picking and choosing certain elements of Apple's strategy without actually understanding why they're actually done. The Galaxy and Note series devices are literally just trying to be Samsung's version of the iPhone (and I don't mean their physically copying them ;)). They are abandoning much of what made Samsung devices unique all to have a prettier package.

The greater travesty is what they're doing with the Note series. Samsung was right in their presentation, they defined the segment. Not only were they the unequivocal sales leaders, the Note has been the best available phablet since its inception, right through the Note 4. I love my 6+ but take away my preference of iOS and the Apple ecosystem and I can see that the Note is a better phablet.

So they get their nose bloodied a bit with the release of the 6+ and their response is to basically turn their back on it? I don't have sales numbers but I always understood Europe to be a much stronger market for the Note than the US. Why on Earth would you just stop selling it there and instead focus on trying to go head to head with Apple in their strongest market? They misjudged the desire for the S6 edge and now assume everyone just wants a curved display device, so 'to hell with the Note.' Mark my words, this may be the last (or at least second last) version of the Note we see. Next year, Samsung is going to have a curved S7 and curved S7 Plus...and that's probably it. Boy that lineup sounds vaguely familiar.

Enjoy the view from the top of the Android OEM mountain Samsung, because at this rate, it's going to get a bit more crowded up there in the next couple years.

The one thing that really stands out to me is how atrocious the Note 5 makes the 6S+ look from an aesthetics perspective.

I'm curious to hear from current Note 4 owner...hell, even Note 3 owners. What about the Note 5 makes it a worthwhile upgrade over what you're using now? What features/functionality are you gaining with the Note 5--Samsung Pay comes to mind but anything else?

Genuine question, not trolling you--Apple devotees generally done need much to encourage them to upgrade to the new model and I'm wondering where that line is for Samsung fans.

I honestly think they look nice together ... I don't have qualms with the aesthetics of either other than perhaps top bezel on iPhone 6 Plus if it was 1/4 to 1/3rd smaller.

Atrocious is a little 'dramatic' ... But it's a subjective thing.

Haha. Wow. Samsung has ZERO chill with their new watch.

Here's the round version of the Apple Watch.

I'm guessing you meant compared to the iPhone 6+, because the S6 edge plus is pretty damn beautiful as well.

And I won't disagree that the Note is a beautiful design...I personally really like the curved back. The rear panel on the iPhone is not their best--Note clearly wins here. But I'd argue the front of the iPhone is still much nicer to look at (bezels withstanding). The front of the Note (and all Samsung devices for that matter) would look much better if this omitted the company name. It's already on back...that's enough IMO. A better comparison would've been next to a space grey iPhone with the all black front. With no company name or logo, it's a beautiful, big black, monolithic slab--and those slightly oversized bezels just disappear when the phone's off. And the waterfall edges on the glass nearly blend seamlessly with the aluminum to make a smooth continuous curve with no sharp edge.

Of course, it's all really personal preference.
