So a few hours later:

  • Lag is mostly gone. I guess now it's just the generic, usual TW stuff here and there.
  • Fingerprint scanner still not awesome.
  • Speaker - much louder than I anticipated! It's not a rich sounding speaker but this thing rocks it for conference calls.
Overall I'm still completely jazzed about this device. I'm curious if it keeps me from an iPhone 7 for the first couple of months.

Edit - so I removed my fingerprints and rescanned. I get waaaay too many error messages while setting up a print (you know, where it tells you to move your finger slightly with a red fingerprint graphic). I get this on 4 different fingers. I think my scanner is wonky. I would absolutely hate to have to exchange this over something like that. Crazy annoying.

I looked at two other Black Note 7s other than mine, and notice the pink along the top and right side as well

I really think its just a side effect of the screen technology, as well as the color pop being more noticeable on the black models. I at least feel better its not just mine. Im sure people dont have it on theirs, but I cant keep exchaning in search of the perfect one.

What carrier are you using?

I think the scanner is just not that good compared to the iPhone scanner. However hopefully the iris scanner will Solve all those problems!

To consumers it is. To someone who builds/designs the phones, it's a redesign. It requires the engineers to bring the phone up and figure out to move the antennas, and making the phone waterproof. So removing the headphone jack. Again, it is still considered a "REDESIGN". facts are facts.
Out of curiosity I have to ask.. has any iPhone release not been a redesign?

Let's see if reviews will knock the iPhone 7 plus price point, too.

At this point in time, you get so much better value with the note 7 versus the 64gb iphone 6s plus. More features, easily better hardware and design, and arguably better software.

A phone with such an easily scratched screen is enough to make me think about cancelling my order. As though I use a case on the rest of the phone I never use screen protectors as really you shouldn't need them. Especially one you're going to use a stylus on.

So I picked up mine yesterday afternoon. Some good stuff but some bad stuff too.

Good:
  • Phone is gorgeous per every review. Sammy's design is amazing here. A 5.7" phone that's probably the most comfortable phone to hold ever produced. (Aesthetic note: Black is beautiful out of the box, but then it is a fingerprint magnet. If that kind of thing drives you nuts, buyer beware.)
  • TouchWiz: this version isn't just an improvement, it isn't just cleaner, it is GREAT. Period. If you straight up prefer vanilla Android or a different skin, that's fine. But anyone still claiming TW is ugly is just making sh*t up at this point.
  • Iris scanner: I called it a gimmick. I was WRONG. It works, works great, and is only going to get better.
  • The most useful iteration of the stylus yet. It really does feel like a pen writing on paper. Gif creation is beyond cool and brilliantly implemented.
  • Yup - they completely fixed the false touch issue with the GS7E. Palm rejection is spot on. And this is *not* an Edge phone. Yes, the screen runs down the sides but it's not as pronounced, not even close. So if you're hesitating because you don't want an "edge phone", stop hesitating. This is a Note.
  • Secure folder: I see virtually zero circumstances in which I will need this feature except maybe for work here and there BUT it is awesome and brilliantly implemented.
Bad:
  • While this may be the most useful version of the stylus software, it's also the cheapest. This thing feels so flimsy and breakable. C'mon, Sammy. So close to perfection on build, why go cheap on the stylus?
  • I set my device up as new and it's not running fantastic. I'm getting good amounts of stutter and lag. Most disconcerting is that it seems the phone fails to register touches a good amount. I'm clicking things multiple times.
  • Fingerprint scanner has straight up sucked. I've wiped and reregistered my prints a couple of times. Phone fails a good amount when I try to activate through this route.
As you may have guessed, I'm starting to think the unit I got specifically is a lemon. I'm going to give it today and if nothing changes, I'm off to VZW to exchange.

Having said that, I disagree with anyone who says this is just an S7E with a stylus or there isn't much reason to upgrade from a Note 5. Use it for a few minutes and it becomes really apparent that this is going to be a much better experience than those two phones, and that's coming from someone who greatly enjoyed both those devices.
On your comment on the phone with the fingerprint scanner not registering a good amount of times. I was very concerned with this as it was not working well on the note 5

I love the fingerprint scanners but I haven't had a good one since the iPhone 5s. That sucks to hear. Let me know if you do get another one and the fingerprint does improve.

This has to be the first time that I'm using the finger print sensor the least. And this is my 6 phone with a finger print sensor.

It's still way to early to say, but the Iris scanner has the potential to be how the majority of users will mostly unlock their phones. As of now, the Iris scanner is looked at as a backup to the finger print scanner. It might end up being the other way around.

Anyone on sprint get the phone yet? I'm still a bit torn if I want to pay off and upgrade my note 4 and stay on sprint.

Hmm... I have this theory that ATT's TouchWiz version does something to their displays. Call me crazy, but compared to TMO display, you can notice a difference--at least with the Note 5 I saw a difference.

Maybe you can walk into local TMO store to test this?

Edit: I don't see the pink hue on my TMO note 7.

Did you happen to check if you have access to Samsung Cloud?
[doublepost=1471727019][/doublepost]Seems like my lag has been better today. Maybe because I'm not using it as much as yesterday. But now I'm noticing that the phone is EXTREMELY hot when it's charging and even for a little bit after it's charged. Anyone noticing anything similar?

Actually, I found the fingerprint scanner on the S7 Edge to be excellent. Same was true of my Note 5.

iPhone is the gold standard, along with Nexus 6P, granted. However this is more than just not being the best. It's gotten a bit frustrating at moments.

People were having the same issues with the ATT version of the S6/S7 edge models. Something about ATT tampering with the adaptive display. Remember reading a thread on XDA about it.

I also don't notice any hue on the T-mobile version on the Note 7.

Sooo, I'm not crazy ! I immediately notice a difference when I had both variants of the Note 5. The ATT display was warmer than the TMO variant; the TMO had bright whites and colors had more pop!

From the sounds it's only easily scratched if you are trying to harm the device like that guy was trying to do. I'e not seen any other person who's reviewed the device that they have seen any scratches.

Very interesting.... How hard is it to get rid of the ATT ********?

This is exactly why I wanted an unlocked Note 7... I just cant wait until they come out with the unlocked versions my 6s Plus has a shattered screen, and even when I get a new one from Applecare I dont want to use it anymore Im just gonna sell it on craigslist.

I see a number of posters and threads over on XDA reporting the keyboard lag that many have reported here too.

Hopefully it's a software glitch and they patch it ASAP.

In regards to the display, I don't think you can get rid of it cause it's baked into the ATT TW version. I could be wrong, though.

I remember my Note 5 had that keyboard lag too, as did my S7 Edge when I first got it, but that was fixed with a later update. I didn't have the lag problem either on my Note 5 after I got the replacement, but that was a clean install, so not sure if it was fixed because of that or if it was in MM.

I don't get why Samsung always has problems optimizing their software for their hardware, they definitely have the money and manpower to do a great job here.

Well that's a bummer. And the t mobile is still t mobile branded right ? Even if you pay for it outright?

In my situation, being on the JOD plan, I can buy the phone out right and unlock it to use on any GSM network.

Not quite sure if I answered your question

No the question is , is the phone t mobile branded. AKA is the t mobile logo on the back and does it have t mobile software like the ATT version.
