So what will happen with those returned devices? Massive refurbs they'll have for sale? Sounds like a good sale to wait for actually.

That is a lot more reported cases than I thought. And that was just reported. It sounds low but this is basically a bomb in your pocket. They did the right thing. Wow....this will be costly for all involved. Many heads will roll at Samsung too. But good to see them taking care of it quickly.

As it is a recall, I guess you do not get a choice to keep it and take a risk not when it involves safety of yourself and others?

Literally just sold my 6s+ to get this phone. Wondering how log I will be without my personal phone. Any ideas on purchasing new ones out yet?

Probably at least 2 weeks according to Samsung but they were abit vague and did not guarantee this.

Why take the risk if someone is gonna give you a shiney new one for free?

Judging by some posts I think some will take the risk. What I am saying is where do they stand legally when there is a recall?

On to Vodafone at the minute - decided I was just going to cancel and wait for this to blow over.

Vodafone currently telling me that I should upgrade to something else. Basically it sounds to me like they're not offering a replacement Note 7 at all. It's a recall and an upgrade to something else or nothing basically.
That's what I'm getting so far from them anyway.

Now she's put me on hold as I asked if I could upgrade to an iPhone 7 but she doesn't know as it's not out yet (duh), so she's 'gone to find out when I could upgrade to an iPhone 7'. I mean what the hell.

At this rate, think I'm just going to cancel.

Didn't Samsung announce that they would start selling officially refurb models like Apple?

The note 7 recalls, once the battery is replaced, will give Samsung plenty of stock. Expect great deals for black Friday and the holiday season on refurbed models.

Just Got back From Sprint Store 100% Refund and $70 Bill Credit on my account $36 activation fee refunded. Will rethink my Note 7 decession did not catch fire but my Note 5 will now be my main again.

Definitely staying away from the Note 7 Until there is a redesign or at least I can be sure I am not getting a Refurbished unit.

Over $500 Back in my Bank Account FU Samsung today thanks Sprint.

I've cancelled.

They're comin to collect both of the devices on Monday (the new connection and upgrade).

No offer of a replacement Note 7 - they're not doing that so it would seem there's no plans for them to stock it.

Absolutely gutted. At least I still love my Priv! :)

Sucks for you that they aren't offering a replacement when it's available again. You with Vodafone did you say?

It's obvious that there will be no word on stock until Samsung can tell them when to expect stock. The recall was announced only hours ago so you cant expect every carrier, shop, supplier to know anything at this present time.

Hence lies yet another issue with relying on carriers. This will not be pretty. Everyone will have a different policy and story. So many retail situations and supply chains to consider. Carriers have no idea what to do right now and are just trying to calm down customers. Samsung's actual support is basically nonexistent in this situation.

Going to piss off a lot of customers in the end. Perhaps this will finally make Samsung reconsider the benefit of being in the pockets of the carriers.

Luckily those in the UK have kind of dogged a bullet here seeing as official release date was suppose to be today. Granted I know the option was to get theirs on the 30th.

Luckily I cancelled my pre order a week ago Before this issue for other reasons like worries over speed and lag. Certainly didn't' expect this.

Yeah it's really a shame. They had such incredible momentum after the initial unveiling of the N7 - what a lost opportunity. In the end I feel like everyone loses because of this. In fact I was happy that Apple was getting some true competition - the N7 is the first Android phone in years that had made me put the iPhone aside without a doubt. But now I think Samsung will in fact just underline the reliability aspect of Apple's brand, and the unreliability of their own. They might end up losing far more than the flow they were having with N7 sales.

I hope they really take their time and do this right. And then come back with a properly tested N7 and pick up where they left off before this crap hit the fan.

I agree. So far it's been difficult for Samsung because they haven't struck a really solid design to build upon and refine. But with the Note 7, they certainly have the opportunity to just chill with an already excellent design and simply refine it, at least for one cycle. I really, really hope they leave the Note 7 design be and just go quality quality quality for next year's version. And that would include customer support and software design...

I agree and disagree.

Generally, Samsung devices hardware-wise have been unbelievably rock solid for me. I realise that isn't the case for everyone on this forum, but I'm reaching annoyance at my S6 Edge for being so bulletproof because I need an excuse for a new phone! Conversely you have something like Antenna-gate which was an unmitigated disaster.

However, I will fully admit that an antenna problem was a design flaw - not something potentially dangerous that could literally BLOW UP. Factoring that in, Samsung have royalled messed up here.

It's been on the UK news for hours now, as the lead news item. Which is frankly insane. Can't believe it.

This is the messed up thing, Samsung. You're literally going to leave so many people without a phone.

That's just crazy.

I wasn't asking about stock, I was asking if I could return it and get a replacement, which they were not offering.
If people want to stick with the phone despite this issue then they should be at least putting you on a list so they could notify you when they know if their getting replacements.
But then that would mean good customer service, something that Vodafone seemingly cannot deliver.

@The Game 161 - yip Vodafone.

Interesting

My dad was going to order the note 7 at some point but if there are no clear signs that it will remain available to order I imagine he may just keep his note 4.

Yeah I hear you.
Although I know from experience that if you rung Vodafone now and asked the same questions you'd probably get a different answer. :p

That's what I'm saying. I'll use my work phone until then but would be at least nice to know

@Aneres11 Interesting response from Vodafone, I wonder if this will prompt some carriers to not restock the device.
I think until the issue is fixed I wouldn't be surprised to see all note 7 gone from sites. Carriers can't be happy with this as the amount of calls I bet they are getting over this issue is through the roof. So the relationship with Samsung over this can't be great.

The recall was the top story on the BBC radio news today which must rate as terrible PR for Samsung considering how many must have heard that.

True, it fecks up carrier promotions and in store marketing too especially with other devices due soon.

If we are looking at a couple weeks before recall details are sorted for territories where phone has been released, they clearly get priority but it'll easily be October or later before Europe is sorted and start to see supply, the advertising so far will have been wasted.

Honestly if in a couple weeks they announced they were not going to bother releasing in some countries after all it wouldn't come as a surprise.

They have to balance the cost of re-manufacturer, supply, re-marketing and it may turn out to be less financially viable especially in some less populated countries.

Definitely a case of watch this space.
