I'd never give some corporation a grand for a phone unless it **** gold through the charging port. And I am not big on VR. But I don't care what the odds, I would NOT strap this thing on my face if I owned one.
Awesome! Report back and let us know your thoughts!Got mine here in the UK delivered today (rearranged from initial delivery date of Tuesday).
I have seen some places are giving credit etc as well as the new phone do you think that Samsung UK will give anything extra above a new device once they are ready?
I'm not too fussed as I still want the phone and am selling the iPhone tomorrow but it would be good if they sweetened the deal.
I just won't be charging the phone while I'm sleeping to minimise the chances of damaging stuff if mine were to be faulty.
Can't wait to get home and try it!!!
From the rumors it doesn't look like it'll be anything flashy, but it should be a really solid phone. Battery life should be even better on the plus, performance will be even faster, and camera should at least match the Samsung's.Yeah I'm just going to hold onto my S7 too now at least until the S8.
Haven't made up my mind about the iPhone 7 but I'll likely give that a pass unless there is something truly wow worthy - though not convinced there will be.
I'm down around €50-60 in accessories for the Note 7, but I'll just sell those off cheap when it's finally available here and people would be looking for them. No point trying to sell them now.
Yeah, I do commend Samsung for doing the right thing, in this instance.http://www.theverge.com/circuitbrea...msung-galaxy-note-7-device-exchange-recall-us
Samsung will exchange
US Galaxy Note 7 devices as early as next week
Customers can swap for a replacement Note 7 or a Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge
Note 7 customers taking advantage of Samsung's exchange program will have two options, as detailed by Samsung's press release:
1. Exchange current Galaxy Note7 device with a new Galaxy Note7 (as early as next week)
2. Exchange current Galaxy Note7 for a Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 edge and replacement of any Note7 specific accessories with a refund of the price difference between devices.
In addition, affected customers will receive a $25 credit on their phone bill or a $25 gift card for their troubles.
In my opinion, these are the two best options that Samsung could have provided. Simple replacement; your choice of returning to a revised Note 7 or try the s7 or s7 edge + refund.
And everyone gets a bonus, too.
They are handling this crappy situation really well. Owning up to it quickly, communicating well, and providing a simple wide-sweeping solution.
Now they have to deliver -- literally and figuratively. If they can really carry this out without any hiccups, I'll be even more impressed. I foresee delays and other issues popping up very easily. They're not out of the woods yet.
Good luck, Note 7 owners. No matter who the OEM is, the customers suffer the most from this.

Still weighing my options, i will see when i have time to go to the at&t store and talk with them. If i can keep all my free stuff, then ill probably return it and wait until all the fall flagships have been released. I dont feel like immediately exchanging, they're probably rushing the manufacturing right now to fix this and other issues may show up, so I would rather get one later.
If I can't keep any of the free stuff, then I'll wait until the end of the deadline to exchange to hopefully avoid more manufacturing defects. The phone is awesome, so I have no problem sticking with it if they fix all the issues.
I also plan on not charging the phone over night anymore, what I'll do is charge it before going to bed and shutting it off before going to sleep.
Oh, it's only temporary that I'll do that, just until I either get the replacement or return it. Just dont want to risk it going off next to my head while im sleeping. Of course I could just use my S7 until then too.Good points. But that last part sounds really inconvenient! As someone who confidently leaves my s7 edge on my fast wireless charger over night every night, I wouldn't give up that convenience. I'd personally just exchange it. =T

Samsung's handling of Galaxy Note 7 recall raises conerns for U.S. officials
A federal official says the Korean phone maker should have gone through the U.S. Consumer Safety Product Commission.

Seriously. By the time our last crib was recalled for the design causing the deaths of other babies, our baby was already in Kindergarten.Considering how slow the Government moves on this stuff if they had gone this route it would have taken months to get the product recalled. Generally the only time something goes through the U.S. CSPC is when the manufacturer is trying to avoid a recall and the CSPC has to fight to make them do one.
With that said, they probably should still file the recall through them, but by the time the CSPC actually gets around to initiating their "official" recall most phones will have already been replaced.
Seriously. By the time our last crib was recalled for the design causing the deaths of other babies, our baby was already in Kindergarten.
Our government needs a kick in the tail and an overhaul in places.
I do appreciate though, that they are concerned the Note 7 is still being sold in various places.
My husband and I very much want to keep our uncracked one. (Hubby dropped and cracked the corner of his). But I took it off the charger this afternoon and it was hot. Not as hot as my Apple Watch has gotten on occasion, which is almost hot enough to hurt, but a lot warmer than it has ever been previously. My husband said that was no big deal and meant nothing, but after reading on Fox News that some lady on Las Vegas had a Note 7 explode on the charger next to her and burn her as she was reading in bed...I decided I won't take a chance. Back it goes.![]()
Where do you get a grand from? I've seen so many people mention bogo deals and whatnot. I myself got a -$200 CAD discount for trading in a dumb phone at the samsung store. Total cost for me was $850 CAD ($650 USD).
night
so are you just going to wait for a replacement then or not stay with the note 7?Seriously. By the time our last crib was recalled for the design causing the deaths of other babies, our baby was already in Kindergarten.

I don't really know. I will go to AT&T and give them my Note 7 and my husband's cracked one and either take a loaner Galaxy until they get Note 7s or just select a Galaxy S7 and be done with it. Those appear to be the options AT&T is offering. I could choose a non-Samsung phone but then I'd have to give back my GearS2 watch. I'm pretty sure I'm sticking with the Note 7. But I am waiting to see what if they develop any more problems to deal with in producing them.so are you just going to wait for a replacement then or not stay with the note 7?
It was just the one time today.Mine doesn't get warm at all while charging and I have been using the fast charge mode so there could be an issue with yours. I'm not that worried, but until I can get a new phone I'll keep an eye on it while it charges.
It's too risky for them to get this wrong as people's lives are at risk. The best option is just to recall everything and start a fresh. If the defect did not have the potential to cause serious harm then they wouldn't have to be so drastic with their actions. What is strange to me....if Samsung knows where the faulty batteries some from... Then they should easily be able to match up serial number of impacted batches. Why not just recall those? Like any other recall? Why don't they make it easier for the customer so those not at risk don't have to go through a return?
I agree Samsung are handling this very well imo. It has shown them to be a responsible company. They are trustworthy and I would buy more devices from them in the future.I'm dropping mine off tomorrow, keeping the 128gb as card, they're giving me a J5 in the interim (but I'll be using my old S5) which I get to keep and they'll have a new Note 7 for me in 3 to 5 weeks.
Considering the "crap" hitting the fan yesterday, I'm pretty happy on how this is being handled really![]()
The J5 is a bit of a step down. It's a shame they couldn't offer you an s7/s7 edge or something. Or even a note 5. However it's good that they are offering you a loaner phone. I'd rather have a phone than not have one if it were my only device.I'm dropping mine off tomorrow, keeping the 128gb as card, they're giving me a J5 in the interim (but I'll be using my old S5) which I get to keep and they'll have a new Note 7 for me in 3 to 5 weeks.
