iVerge at it again in their review of the iphone7 when comparing cameras to the Note 7. They used an optical illusion, cropping out the table light in the Note 7 picture to make it darker.

Not a low light test with the big lit bulb. Nevertheless, not as bad as 6S+ but 7+ still has loss of detail (compared to Note 7 where I can make out the hands on the watch), oil painting effect and blown out (white spot on his forehead and growth on hers). Nothing mentioned about auto focus tracking either so it must not be good.

Samsung users, actually phone users regardlesss what brand or os should want the competition to come out and outdo your device of choice. This will only make these companies work harder which is good for consumers

HOLY CRAP, while looking at my phone back for any scuffs I noticed the glass on the camera lens has a crack going through it!! I thought these were made of sapphire these days? I've been a bit more rough with the phone the past couple days to test out the GG5, and can say there are no other scratches or scuffs. The crack goes from one corner all the way to the opposite one. I can feel the crack if I run my finger across it.

I've always had an issue with Samsung QC, never owned a Samsung that I didn't have to warranty exchange at some point. So far with this Note 7:

-GPS issues: GPS tells map app I'm in a different direction or on a road parallel to the one I'm on
-wifi handoff: Terrible handoff from wifi to cellular, sometimes it can take several blocks of travel before my N7 realizes there is no wifi, this is even with aggressive handoff enable.
-wifi calling: poor, dropped calls, once I had literally 7 dropped calls in a row, when it does connect it's often garbled and I can't hear other person or vice versa, this is with a strong wifi connection.
-Reboots: my wife's has rebooted several times, mine has once, just random
-Lag
-Camera lens cracked, wtf?
While I have an S7 edge, I'll still check my camera lens every time someone posts about their camera lens cracking or shattering, just in case.

Also, the lens is made out of glass. Slight downgrade from Apple's sapphire lenses.

Cropping afterwards doesn't impact the lighting. Take a look at the girl on the left in all 3 photos. She's clearly brighter in the iPhone 7, then the Note, and worse in the 6s+.

If you spent any reasonable amount of time over the past year reading their articles or listening to their podcasts, it would be quite clear that old stereotype doesn't fit like it used to...quite the opposite as I hear them rip Apple apart in some fashion on almost every single podcast. Even Walt Mossberg, the long time Apple lackey, has been pretty harsh on them in many areas.

Really it's only glass? I can't imagine why when that's the part that's most exposed to abuse since it sticks out. Did the s7 edge also have issues with cracked lenses?

The iPhone has been the only one that I'm aware of to use sapphire for the camera lens.

Wouldnt worry much about cracking, even though it happened its not too commin. While the lens sticks out, it's also smaller, so it's harder to break. Bigger problem is scratches.

Does anyone know who is supplying the replacement batteries and whether they are the same mAmp?

Surely a bespoke battery takes time to manufacture.

I've only had the phone a couple of weeks and am VERY careful with it. I have no idea whatsoever what could have caused it. Doesn't inspire confidence.

I'd like to share my battery life stats of my Note7 (Chinese battery I'm assuming, says manufactured in China on the back of my Note 7). Screen was on auto brightness, AOD is on.

That does not automatically mean it's the Chinese version at all. It's the model number which dictates that. What is the model number ?

Post a screenshot of the model number in about device inside settings.

If you imported the dual or single sim version from Hong Kong or similar parts of Asia (SM-N9300 etc..) - you could in all likelihood still have the international model with the potentially dangerous battery.

Not for mi7chy it isn't. Check post history, he has a consistent habit of having a swipe at Apple irrespective of thread topic. Never has a poster had a clearer modus operandi....

Who doesn't like mi7chy? He's the best. Jokes/sarcasm aside, his i7+ trolling can go elsewhere.

The thing though is that they've never really been biased towards Apple, just the features Apple has excelled at. In fact, I'd say most "apple biased websites" share this trait. It's not that they blindly follow Apple, it's that what Apple has produced fits their "taste" in what they feel makes a good smartphone.

Let's say you enjoy pizza, but your favorite part of a pizza is the cheese. And there is this one pizza place that has the best cheese, and it's just your favorite pizza. Sure, the other toppings they have are ok, but the cheese is spectacular, so you always go to that chain and recommend it to others. Now are you biased towards that pizza chain or are you really just biased towards having really good cheese on your pizza?

I believe it's safe to say the verge's biased is towards solid build and design, consistently good and easy to use features with fast performance, all things that have been a staple of iPhones since the beginning.

For some when getting a new phone, it's design. Nothing else matters for them. For others, less flashy features like removable battery. Starting to see it in many comments and hopefully it's duly noted by Samsung. Note7 totally goes against my beliefs. I should be hating this phone.

- Glass back
- Gorilla Glass 5 is prone to scratches
- Dual edge is a cosmetic gimmick
- Laggy software
- Bit too large, iPhone 7 is my max height
- Lower battery life than S7 edge
- Overheating charging which causes the explosion
- Expensive
- Non removable battery
- FAA telling us to turn it off
- It's a Samsung (more of an LG fan myself)
- Project Valley around the corner
- Note8 might bring back removable battery

Almost everything about Note7 I should mostly hate. Yet, for some crazy reason, I still want it.

Stupidity I know. Love is blind. Why do fools fall in love? Because we're fools! We're in love! Call me crazy which I am sometimes. It's kinda like that ex-girlfriend. You hate almost everything about her but you still love her. Or that Gnash song, "I Hate U I Love U". I'm also naughty and into forbidden, taboo stuff.

I'm also Sagittarius, a fire sign. An adventurer. You see my avatar. It is a throwaway shot in color. A webcam selfie from late-2011 until I edited into a silhouette that I dub my "Shadowman" pic. Wearing a fedora similar to Indiana Jones but in black. I'm like Indy. And like a Note7, I have my moments of spontaneous combustion!

If the problems keep happening or say I can't tolerate the lag, scratches, or the battery life isn't satisfying enough, there are always other alternatives...

Samsung Galaxy S7 edge (silver)
Xiaomi Mi 5 ($350, white)
LG V20 (removable battery, yay!)
Apple iPhone 7 (256gb matte black or jet black)

Or I'll use it to buy more PS4 games (ahem, PS3 remasters). Whatever we buy, we are usually a winner either way. And if Note7 is a dud, many other great alternatives to choose from. Choice is a beautiful thing.

Update from Vodafone here.

So they have finally begun collecting devices from those (via courier) that got them before the cancelled launch date.

Vodafone here are simply refunding any payment and rolling back the contracts to their prior state - users can upgrade to any other device once rolled back. Essentially they are undoing the Note 7 purchase / upgrades.

They are unsure IF they will be restocking the Note 7 in the future hence waiting for a replacement is simply not an option here.

Umm.. that's worrisome.

I've had thoughts that Note7 will no longer be on shelves. And I'll have to return the Note7 for a refund. Now, the CPSC involved it doesn't help Samsung at all.

I was hoping to wait on the iPhone 8, might have to pick up a iP7+ after all. Just ruined my plans!

It will be dependent on country and carrier. I guess from a carrier perspective this has likely caused them a headache and by delaying it, it's likely missed the retail space / advertising partition made for it.

Three Ireland still seem to say they will replace the handsets, but they likewise here are cagey about when and if they will be stocking it for general purchase. I suspect if they do it will be a very subdued release just appearing on their site for order. The marketing will be minimal at this stage.

You are far more likely to see it relaunched in a country will 50 or 60 million people, than in a country with 4 ..... They have to weigh up the advertising/marketing budget and chance of recuperation at this stage.

Well, at least here they're still talking about deliveries starting at some point next month. Hope it'll happen.

Yeah it will just depend on Samsung and the carrier. We will see what will happen, I just wouldn't be expecting some big mass market relaunch affair. Next month will be telling.

Looks like the kid who got hurt wasn't using a Note 7 after all. Not that the actual result would be any better for Samsung, but right now we don't know if the device was using the original battery or a third party replacement. http://www.androidauthority.com/exploding-galaxy-note-7-childs-hands-clarification-716245/

Yeah that was already revealed in the thread about it ....
Samsung phone explodes in little 6 year old boy’s hands, burns him

Nether the less it's just more bad publicity and regardless general consumers will associate it with the Note 7 anyway.
