Count me in this camp also.

Although I haven't got my Plus yet. Instead I've gone for a normal 7 on contract as it's cheaper than a Plus, and intended to sell it when the Pluses were readily available and put my mounting John Lewis vouchers towards the purchase of it.
Pop my contract sim in and away I go.

However, after a couple of days with it I'm just not sure.

The Note was God tier phone. Like really really impressed me.
And the 7 camera is just not that good in my opinion.
It's much better than the previous iPhones, and low light is pretty impressive, but it doesn't really match up with the Note.

Whether the Plus is different? I don't know. But apparently it is sharper, which is all I feel the 7 is lacking right now.
It may be the size of the iPhone 7 though. I hate the 4.7 size. I do find the Plus to be a little too big, but it's more what I'm now used to so can't wait to get a device with a bigger screen again.

iOS has come on leaps and bounds in a year since I've used it though, enjoying it. Aside from notifications, which are sorely sorely lacking compared to Android.

Argh. I dunno.

Yeah, I still haven't called TMO to cancel my iP7+; I guess I'm stalling to see what happens with the Note 7 replacements.

All the vloggers I follow don't seem impressed with the iP7. The consensus seems to be that it's an upgrade to the iP6 but not the iP6S+ which is what I'm currently using.

Yeah I hear that.

I think the iPhone is in desperate need of a redesign. More the screen to bezel ratio, which would then make the white models a little more appealing.

I just chose a gold 7 (just as it was the only one available and I have zero intentions to keep it) but my Plus will definitely be black (matte) which I think looks better given how much bezel there is. Having said that though, Apple (IMO) are the only company that can do colours well. Blue Note 7 aside :p. This gold is pretty gorgeous on the back, and my sister has the rose gold 7 which also looks great.

What you've read online seems to be the same as me. It's a great upgrade from the 6, but the 6S? Maybe not so much.
Whilst I'm enjoying iOS 10 too, I do find myself rolling my eyes somewhat at the widgets. Feels like they're tucked away and could be so much better than they are. iMessage is impressive though, can see me using WhatsApp much less now I'm back on iOS as all of my family use iPhones and a lot of my main WhatsApp chats do too.

See how it goes. One thing is for sure, I will definitely buy the Plus and use that for a week at the least before I make any decisions. That way I get used to the size, have some time with the camera, and see if I still crave the Note 7 as much!

Disagree with your vloggers. This phone is a powerhouse. iOS 10 is fantastic, and battery is stellar. I think we've become too desensitized to these devices.

They don't hate the device, most believe it's not worth the upgrade over the 6S+, that's all. I'm not sure who it was (I believe it was Leo Laporte) who said if you own a 6 then it's worth the upgrade; if you have the 6S+, you can hold off till next year.

This. While I didn't have a chance to own a Note 7 (only played with it in stores), I got my 7 Plus on launch day and I absolutely love it. I love the redesign of the home button and haptic (taptic?) engine. iOS 10 is a joy to use and no scrolling / animation jank that my 6p and even Note 5 have to a certain degree. I may still get a Note 7 through my employer as a work phone but I'm definitely loving the 7 Plus. Plus this matte black is hella sexy :)

Again, the reviewers liked the phone, just don't believe its not much of an upgrade over the iPhone 6S+, but a definite upgrade over the regular 6--I don't think anyone would disagree with that.

well, I had a 6s and I feel like it's an upgrade. But I did want the bigger size, so it is more of an upgrade for me than 6s+ to 7+.

EDIT to say: I still feel like it's an upgrade when you factor in the new home button / taptic engine system, water resistance, and speakers. Those alone I feel like could justify the upgrade, but that's pretty subjective. I know I will be getting the 2017 iPhone regardless and I had a year left of paying on my 6s, so I figured I'd just do the new iPhone every year plan :)

The Note 8 needs to knock it out of the park. So much bad press between exploding batteries and piss poor performance.

Nah, the Note 7 has already knocked it out of the park. No matter how you cut it, the Note 7 is the complete package. I'm not politically correct and believe there is a phone that can be called the best, and that would be this phone. Even Cult of Mac couldn't help but come to the same conclusion with that devestating review. Devestating, absolutely devestating to crush it's reader base with that cold hard truth of a review. Dang, so cold.

Once released, the update will automatically download and install on affected Galaxy Note 7 handset, after altering the user to the update of course. As well as limiting battery capacity to just 60 percent, customers will be alerted to turn off their device and return it to their place of purchase. According to Samsung, this alert will appear every time the user reboots their phone or connects it to a charger. This repeated reminder will probably persuade a few people to return their phones, just to avoid the irritating message.

Good on Sammy for this one. Nice to see they're finally taking the correct steps.

Those users who have had their devices replaced. Please let us know how you find the new device. Are any of the initial reports of performance hiccups still a reality, or has the replacement seemingly (whether by placebo or not) fixed those.

How is battery life ? Any improvement ?

Many of us are still in a limbo as we didn't receive our orders and have to wait till end of October before we get the opportunity to possibly get ours. So the next few weeks of these replacement devices being in hands of users and their feedback may prove very useful for those still on the waiting game.

I've been curious about likewise. What are the odds Sammy took the break in sales to tweak the device a bit to run faster/smoother, especially now that it has to compete with Apple's A10 chip? That would be kinda awesome.

Yeah. It would be also very interesting to see if there was a correlation between the dodgy battery and the performance hiccups many users reported, especially as (i can only speak about the exynos though) S7 & S7e are very smooth and mostly hiccup free (occasional stutter/dropped frame when you press on home screen and bring up home screen management) in day to day use. The battery life would also be interesting to discover.

I had the snapdragon GS7E and it ran smoother than my Note 7. Faster too. You may be on to something but my guess is the new version of TW had more to do with hiccups. I'm rooting for you to be right. ;)

I'm inclined to blame Samsung's software for performance issues considering how much CPU time the various services are using. I was able to bring it down a bit with PDP, but that was never necessary on the Note 5.

I will add that in some cases the fault lies with app developers who don't know how to properly handle the big.LITTLE configuration. Up until the most recent version of OneNote it would get stuck on a low power core and perform terribly. I see the same thing with Chrome's GIF rendering: they're slow and choppy in many cases but will play smoothly if you're scrolling and forcing the app to ask for more power. Samsung's own browser doesn't have this issue.

The Note 5 was exynos wasn't it - and we know Samsung's software does tend to favour their own processors.

But, well the new Grace UX could certainly have a few chinks that need ironing out because their were reports of similar performance hiccups also from exynos variant owners of the N7 (which like I saw are not there on the S7/S7e anyway), which means it can't all be snapdragon 820 variant fault, so perhaps it is more of the changes samsung made when introducing Grace UX. That grace UX may simply need a few updates to bring it to the same level of performance as TW on the S7/S7e.

Either way it will be interesting to see if there is any difference after they have been replaced with newer rectified battery units or whether there is no correlation at all.

Looks like Verizon is pushing the "green battery" / "device unsafe" update (new note / old note, respectively) to the Note 7

http://www.droid-life.com/2016/09/2...alaxy-note-7-also-adds-warning-unsafe-models/

Also added it back to their website for sale:
https://www.verizonwireless.com/smartphones/samsung-galaxy-note-7/

"Available now the new Galaxy Note7. The Galaxy Note7 was previously recalled on September 9th by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) due to an issue with the device's battery. This new Galaxy Note7 has been approved by the (CPSC) for all purchases and exchanges."

My AT&T store still don't have replacements, should have them before next week, I was told. He also said it shows the replacements have been shipped, just no date.

Who else switched to the iPhone and misses their Note 7? For those idiots who spout that the iPhone "just works" please go jump in a lake. Lots of issues and bugs so far, more so than the Note 7, well not counting the blowing up thing. Lots of very cool stuff as well so it's a tough decision. But besides the issues there are still things I cannot fathom why Apple does them, lack of a file system, crappy widgets and inability to use 3rd party apps as default are the ones that are rubbing me wrong currently.

what issues are you having? I've been running my iPhone 7 Plus since Friday without issue. And I do claim that iOS just works, so are you calling me an idiot? ;) That's not allowed around here... ;)
