Lots of very cool stuff as well so it's a tough decision.

Well, I'm officially out.

I had did a reserve for my Note7 at BB. Was told my account had to be current in order to do a exchange.

I'm on a family plan with members paying their portion separately... which now since I'm past due, they won't give me a new Note7.

I was under the impression it would be a simple swap in and swap out process. Its disappointing... but I'm returning it.

what issues are you having? I've been running my iPhone 7 Plus since Friday without issue. And I do claim that iOS just works, so are you calling me an idiot? ;) That's not allowed around here... ;)

Lol, no I don't mean it like that. No issues which are deal breakers like an exploding phone, well one might be. I drop calls a lot, and full signal areas turn to "no coverage" frequently while driving. It's a somewhat known issue on all the carriers so I'm confident Apple will have a solution soon, but in the meantime I feel like I'm slumming it with a $1k phone that doesn't make phone calls. I'm also finding carplay to be very buggy, kind of a disappointment after using android auto. Carplay is basically not usable for me with its current bugs.

But other than that really no other issues. I don't miss the lag of the Note 7, the iPhone 7+ is smooth as butter, kind of weird at times to have something that smooth after being on Android the last 2 or so years. Reception is better, I can make calls at my house without wifi calling, where the Note 7 sometimes wouldn't connect. The earpiece on iphones I've always found much more clear than the Note series. The mute button...I'm in heaven. I love imessage, incredible and really should alert Google they need to change up their idiotic messaging strategy. Having no file system has reared its ugly head a couple of times already, although there are janky work arounds. Widgets really suck on iOS, but I'm glad to have something and am still exploring, but have yet to find any widgets that come anywhere close to replacing the ones I had on Android.

I don't mean to sound like I don't like the ip7+, no I love it. But I loved the N7 as well. I can't be happy unless some mad scientist combines them both.

haha, I know. I had to give ya crap.

yeah, not having service is a big deal. Luckily, I haven't had that issue at all (Verizon) but I did see that some phones were having that issue. Apple does tend to have issues with the initial software that ships with brand new phones and issues get fixed with subsequent updates. I remember my iPhone 6 with iOS 8 was atrocious right out of the gate. But so far for my 7+ and iOS 10, it's been smooth sailing <<knocks on wood>>.

I would actually love to be able run iOS 10 on a Note 7 (with a fixed battery, of course). That would be awesome. Even have a mini Apple Pencil for the stylus. But if rumors are true, I guess that's what we'll be getting with the 2017 iPhone (sans Apple pencil);)

Who else switched to the iPhone and misses their Note 7? For those idiots who spout that the iPhone "just works" please go jump in a lake. Lots of issues and bugs so far, more so than the Note 7, well not counting the blowing up thing. Lots of very cool stuff as well so it's a tough decision. But besides the issues there are still things I cannot fathom why Apple does them, lack of a file system, crappy widgets and inability to use 3rd party apps as default are the ones that are rubbing me wrong currently.

Disagree on the widgets, I personally like this implementation. However on the other two items...did you expect something different in this OS that hasn't been featured in the previous 9 iterations? Not a defense pro or con for their omission but you did know going into it that these things aren't part of the Apple package right now?

Last time I used iOS was iOS8, I was hoping Apple did something to shore up these issues. Yes I was aware there was no file system, I was just a bit blindsided by how difficult it was to accomplish what I was trying to do. I was able to find work arounds through research, but they are definitely work arounds and not very good ones at that. The widgets are ok, but if you are used to Android widgets you would f ind it hard to go back. I can list out several examples of widget functionality that I don't see on iOS no matter how hard I look, I don't even think iOS 10 is capable of what I'm looking for.

Now keep in mind that I'm not a rabid fanboy on either side, I've owned both sides and have complaints for both iOS and Android. I like to have discussion over things and not blind fanboyism and think it's healthy, and maybe another forum user doesn't know about the file system and that may factor into their decision or I can help them. Am I giving up the iPhone? No, I love it and plan to stick with it for a bit, maybe until the holidays then I'll grab a very cheap used Note 7 and use them both.

Well I have an iPhone 7 plus. When I get my Note 7 replacement, there's no question I'll end up using it the majority of the time.

My Note 7 is just too feature rich, feels much better in hand, has such a crisp 2K display, micro SD storage, looks sexy, and is unrestricted.

The iPhone 7 Plus does have great sound quality when I used the included lighting earpods. The duel speakers are also very good when it comes to loudness, but it sounds borderline monotone when the volume is at max. I'm satisfied though. Samsung needs to work on their speaker and headphone sound, this is where Apple wins without question. Their sound is even better than the Note 7 when using my BT headphones.

I also like the static home button, but I personally think it could be implemented better. I'll reserve full judgment until I get more used to it.

I love the duel camera for the sole purpose of using the 2x zoom which works flawless. Low light pictures have too much noise for my taste compare to the Note 7. The focus speed is excellent, but the Note 7 has a slight edge.

The iPhone 7 Plus screen is the best screen I've had that's not OLED 2K. But Apple knows what they have to do next year.

Have you tried using iCloud drive? Depending on what your trying to do, it can work like a pseudo file manager.

My iPhone 7 Plus won't be here until thanksgiving, but my wife's phone arrived yesterday and it is very fast indeed, can't wait for mine.

Yeah icloud drive works very well especially if you have a mac. Personally the handoff and continuity features are what make the iPhone my prinicipal work phone. My notes, calendar and all the continuity features just make it more insync with my work flow.

I love all my androids though for messing, customising them and media (camera or listening to music). There is no perfect device, there is always compromise. For me the best solution is a mixture of the two android & ios.

I've used Android phones pretty extensively. Other than on/off toggles and sports scores, I've never really found them to be that useful. After a point it becomes more clutter on a home screen. Not to mention I've found a lot of widgets don't necessarily save me swipes/taps.

It's all in how you implement widgets. I only had one home screen on my recalled Note 7. I can view the five day forecast, view the monthly calendar, and able to make icons much smaller using widgets. No scrolling or clutter. And my home screen is only like level 1 when it comes to creativity.

Yeah, I appreciated scrolling cal widgets and the like, but never a big deal for me. Also, and this may sound lazy (cause it is) I never want to get too "creative" with how I set everything up because when I switch phones or should I have to do a hard reset I do not want the hassle of setting it all up again.

Yeah I messed around with cloud drive, but it didn't solve my issue. Basically my issue was getting apps to open files I had on OneDrive. A total non issue on Android, but required a lot of hoop jumping and silly work arounds and even then was only done half a$$.

It's all good, we just have different uses and preferences. I had all my widgets laid out very nice and neatly, nothing like a clutter at all. Certainly nowhere near as much of a clutter iOS is with pages and pages of similar looking icons, ugh. Anyhow the incredible amount of information I can get from android widgets at a single glance was great.

I'll give you a few examples, there are many more. Scrolling, such a small thing but so huge to have on a widget. I've looked and looked and iOS does not have this as far as I can tell. So in Android I can have my email widget, and can scroll up and down and see my emails and take action on them, or I can just glance at my first 4 or 5 emails without any scrolling or action at all. iOS email widget only lets you assign VIP's and then you only get icons for those. Even awesome android widgets like Bluemail don't even exist in iOS. Frankly I've looked for literally hours and have yet to find a decent email widget on iOS. I thought Airmail had one, but it's only icons for contacts you have email from, useless.

Another great one is the camera feed for my daughter, it's a live feed so I can check on her sleeping and make sure she's ok. Once again no interaction needed, simply a glance at the screen which has all my other widgets.

Once again each system has pros and cons, and that of course depends on how you and I use our phones, which is bound to be different.

Yup, I understand that, and it's still one of the existing frustrations of Android. Unless you root, image style backups are nonexistent. And I don't want to root any Samsung flagship nowadays, cause I might lose some features I like due to security.

I will say that Samsung is at least making an attempt. I factory rest my Note 7 then tried Samsung Cloud. It did put my home screen exactly how it was, even though I had to activate the widgets. But backups/restores don't seem to be reliable yet. And it's only an answer for Samsung phones.

The home screen arrangement restore is actually part of marshmallow. Assuming you are restoring from same device backup it will restore the home screen arrangement, it's not actually a Samsung thing itself, it applies to any marshmallow backup of same device.

For those of you wanting to know how good Samsung Cloud is, you can rest easy. I got both phones up and running and restored just like my previous phone. Home screen, settings, apps, and widgets all restored on the new one. My photos are on my SD card, so no need for that to be restored.

Cool, I didn't know that.

Yeah it's handy. In an ideal world of course it would work across different oem android devices, however the limitation is understandable as of course as there are so many differences from launcher to stock apps across different android OEM'S.

In cases of switching between different OEM android devices the restore backup will restore your home screen wallpapers and will mark to download all the apps applicable and available on the alternative device. You just have to set up the home screen layout yourself though.

I haven't done a backup from Google since years ago, cause back then it would just backup my wallpaper, simple settings, and reinstall apps. What annoyed me was that it would install damn near every app I download from even years back. I'm gonna try a Android backup on my Blu R1 HD and see how that goes.

Google gives the option of what apps to install on the restore
Yeah I wish they make it clearer visually you can select which apps to restore, often you press next forgetting to hit the drop down menu which allows you to then check/uncheck the apps. Still if you know to look out for it it's handy alright.

Sweet, got my replacement device today. Setting it up now. The software does seem slightly tweaked, while setting up there was this blue animation on the curved edges that wasn't there before, or at least I don't remember it. The phone feels slightly smoother, though this is either a placebo or it's a fresh device. Hardware seems the same, but the black metal rim is a little darker than my original, my original one matched the antenna lines while this one is darker.

And here is my software info if anyone wants to compare, forgot to take a screenshot before with my original note. This is the at&t model.

What about app data?

What about app data?

I know it's not the same thing, but Samsung sync preserved all my app data, accounts, passwords, settings, etc. If it's an option I highly recommend it. Of course if you are replacing a phone that was lost or damaged it may not be possible.
