Bad news European folk waiting for a Note 7. It's looking like we won't be seeing a launch till late November now.

--------

"The Galaxy Note 7 recall is now well under way, with fresh safe stock beginning to make its way out to many pre-order consumers. However, it looks like Europe has one again drawn the short straw when it comes Samsung’s Note range, as the company states that sales won’t recommence in the region until sometime in late November.

This news means that Europe isn’t due to start receiving fresh stock for store shelves until much later than the rest of the world. Samsung has already confirmed that it will recommence Note 7 sales in South Korea on September 28th, while sales in Singapore and Australia to be reinstated sometime in October. Retail stock will also return to the US on October 21st. The longer delay will no doubt be a double disappointment to Samsung fans in Europe, who were left off last year’s launch of the Galaxy Note 5 as well."

------

I can't help but feel Late November is too late, by Dec we will be hearing the leaks for the S8. It explains why Vodafone were reluctant to say whether they would be stocking it going forward.

I think many smaller European countries may simply not see it launched at all ...

Oh bugger, I had heard some rumors about early November but late November would be even worse. Still waiting, though.

Sooo.... I must say I've been really disillusioned with my 7+, I just keep saying to myself "that's it?" It's funny because I was whining about Samsung's QC just a few weeks ago, but now I feel as if I don't have the confidence in Apple's QC anymore. My phone completely drops reception several times per day, this lasts several minutes. It hasn't been addressed by Apple, or any of the carriers except Tmobile, and reports on the internet include all the carriers. I know, a bit off topic, but I'm just mentally weighing the pros and cons on both these phones. So far the only pro on the iPhone is imessage and knowing that Apple isn't picking through my information with a fine tooth comb like Google does.

Plenty of others are having the same issue. Fortunately I haven't had one issue with the 7+ yet.

Even though I don't notice any call or data issues. Indoors only, the field test shows my strength at -100(3 bars), which is below optimal.

Besides the coverage issues, my 7+ has better reception than my Note 7 does. This is especially apparent at my home, where the Note 7 dropped calls a lot and only showed one bar where the 7+ is rock solid, usually showing 3 bars but occasionally showing 1 bar. I'll have to measure the specific strength and compare them to get a more scientific comparison.

I'm also scared of the wifi handoff, which on the Note 7 majorly sucked, even with aggressive mode turned on it just refused to switch to cellular for way too long.

I guess karma has spoken. I was going to pick one up off swappa for about $170 less than retail, but when I hit the buy button someone must have also hit it seconds before me, sigh. So I figured I would buy one from a Verizon store on the way home from work. Online looked like both corp stores on the way home had stock of them, nice. Right before I left I checked again, and no stock. So looks like more and more are getting theirs replaced. Oh well maybe I'll try again next week, I still have a week to return my ip7+, or maybe I will just keep it and throw it in a drawer as a back up phone.

Why let it devalue and pay interest sitting in a drawer instead of returning it? After the initial hype it could take a hit in value due to all the hardware and software issues. There will be plenty of lower priced refurbs since many are going back to the uncastrated 6S series or you can always rebuy a newer revision down the road with the kinks worked out.

True, but then I won't be able to take it out and fondle it every so often.

Samsung is amazing...i received or am receiving 3 gifts from their promotion...already got the gear fit watch 2 from old note 7, 256 gb microSD card shipped for loaner s7 edge, and now just got approved for gear vr with replacement note 7...no other company is this generous...i will stick with samsung high end phones forever

I don't understand how you are getting all those? I'm considering sending my 7 back because of the hiss and pick up a note.

Are we able to get notes yet?

Agreed. I'm sending mine back as I feel better about just keeping my iPhone 6s Plus for now.

Yeah I thought about it, why let it sit around for no good reason. I'm trying to see what my options are for getting a Note this week, as it's my last week to return to Apple. I'm so disappointed in the 7+ and Apple as a company. The Note 7 isn't a panacea at all either, but I feel they deserve my money more than Apple.

Yeah the second half of the year has been a little dissapointing device wise.

From the iPhone 7 which is more of a sideways step than an upgrade, from the N7 mess up, the Moto Z which is not the successor to the Moto X many of us wanted. The new Pixel phones still need to convince and I'm not sure they will ...

So yeah pretty meh! second half of 2016 for me.

Doesn't even confirm if it was an.original OEM battery in the Note 2
By equal logic though it doesn't confirm it wasn't. But either way it's utterly unrelated to the Note 7 battery recall. Samsung SDi were established 2014 - 2 years after the launch of the Note 2.

But it does show how perception wise going forward many of these incidents will be associated with (rightly or wrongly) with the Note 7. Once something gets lodged into public perception it is very hard to change that. That's the challenge Samsung has going forward.

I picked up the 7+ as well a few days ago and it's already boxed up and going back. Does absolutely nothing for me over my 6S+.gonna go to AT&T tomorrow and see if I can snag a Note

Good news! My insurance company has told me that my Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge + 64GB is beyond economical repair and they'll be sending me a new one.

two questions:
1) Will it be a refurb?
2) Does that matter when it comes to selling/recycling?
3) Do you recommend me selling it privately or recycling it. Quite frankly i'm happy to lose £50 if it means I don't deal with dishonest buyers.
4) Does anyone know of a place where I call sell pretty hassle free?

The Note is probably the best phone out now hardware wise, it is just so incredibly designed, the screen is awesome, and they managed to fit so much in a small body.

The iphone 7/7 plus in jet black I think look better with the screen off, like just a shiny black monolith, but once the screen comes on and you see those fairly large bezels the advantage goes back to the Note.

If it's an insurance company replacement then it will be a new device. Even if it's not it will be in pristine as new condition.

Even if they send you a new device, when you sell it will technically be second hand and so you won't be recouping anything like the initial purchase cost.

You would be looking at anything around £340 resale value privately selling.

CEX UK will pay you only £214-240

Well, I'm in the US so it may be different where you are, but in my experience:
1. Yes, normally refurbs, but you may get lucky and get a new unit.
2. Not really, as long as it looks new and works fine.
3. It depends, you'll be able to get more selling it privately, but recycling is so much easier.
4. I've used gazelle in the past and they're pretty hassle free. Also the carrier store and best buy.
