It's is worthless without context. That's like saying that Jay Cutler is obese by looking at his BMI.

The context is phones basically the same size as being discussed right now. Not saying one is better than the other. I prefer bezel over none.

Why the heck is everyone so aggressively defensive around here?

No the iPhone is actually, physically wider, not because of the curved display on the N7. But I agree, I prefer the flat design on the 7+ and feel the curved edges on the N7 are wasted, I just wish the 7+'s side bezels were more narrow. A hair is 0.4 to .25mm versus the 4.7mm difference in height, but we are splitting hairs now...:) But once again "negligible" is in the eye of the beholder. If you've actually held both of them at the same time and feel it's negligible I can't argue with your opinion. But I've held both and to me it's substantial. Not a deal breaker, other shortcomings on the 7+ added up to my decision not to use it, but the size alone I could have dealt with. I did see the video and never denied the Note 7 lags occasionally, so does my 7+, neither affect the usability.

I don't mind the side bezels. But I'm caseless, that makes a huge difference.
I actually don't mind the top bezels, give me something to hold comfortable when the phone is in landscape, I use the them to rest my thumbs, it makes it easier to hold and read.

I would prefer it if apple slims it down to 6.7 mm

Your right holding both the iPhone 7 plus and the note 7 the note 7 is narrower but also thicker. Can't really remember only had it for a day.

I will compare. When the note 7 goes back on sale, they are saying sometime in November for the U.K.

Yeah, we're different. I use reachability all the time and find it superior to Sammy's screen shrink. With Reachability, the buttons stay the same size, it just moves down to your finger vs smaller touch targets. Then again I didn't have the Note 7 for too long so maybe I would have gotten used to it.

(Hey, we need to be careful - we're having an adult conversation about different devices. I think we're supposed to call each other stupid for liking or disliking wireless charging or something. ;) )

I prefer reachability too.

It's convient.

Don't you ever get tired of just steamrolling a conversation? Conversation are not contests. If you make them that way you'll just start talking to yourself.

Lol, no adult conversations allowed in here!!!!

Size of the phone was the key issue.
Body to screen ratio is worthless. The nexus 6 was a prime example.

Body to screen ratio is priceless, not worthless. It tells you how much screen you have versus the overall physical size of the phone, I'm not sure if that's obvious. More screen, smaller phone. I'm not sure but I think you are trying to say a larger phone is a larger phone, am I correct? The Nexus 6 was a larger phone than the 6s+, but had a more favorable body to screen ratio. I suppose I'm just confused, it seems like we would know a larger phone is larger. Of course the 2 should be taken together contextually, but it just seems obvious.

Edit: Ok I didn't realize you were responding to phoneguy's post. I do agree that the actual phone size should contextually be included with the screen/body ratio. But in his defense, he isn't wrong. Fitting a larger screen in a smaller body is still a good thing no matter how you look at it, whether it's on a 4" smartphone or a 12" tablet, laptop, or a 40" monitor.

Doesn't give much weight to depth.

Do you mean thickness? Yes that's definitely a valid point and should be part of the contextual information. Still, I'd prefer a larger screen in a smaller height, smaller width, but thicker phone any day of the week. Once again, just personal preference.

Yes depth or thickness.

Phone guys comparisons were flawed without them, pouted considerably afterward.

The nexus 6 at 10.06mm was a brick of a phone. Body screen ratio doesn't take that into account.

You prefer thick phones others prefer slim, it's a personal preference.

Since I know alot of people are debating between the iPhone 7 Plus and Note 7, here is Flossy's review of the iPhone 7 and in it he makes lots of comparisons to the Note 7, most of which I agree with. Disclaimer, I have only played around with my wife's iPhone 7 Plus, I won't have mine for a couple of months.

As for it being "on topic", I think comparisons with its closest alternative are definately on topic as long as they dont get into a pissing contest , which unfortunately happens alot.

And for the sizes, I find the width and thickness of the phone to be more important than the height and to me the Note feels quite a bit better in hand than my iPhone 6S Plus, but I do get more false touches than my iPhone. Preferably I think it would be perfect if you look at the iPhone and see the slight curve the glass has at the edge and just bring the screen all the way to that edge. The screen on the iPhone also "feels" bigger even though its not, and i suspect it's because of the curve on the Note. Combine the 2, I think the perfect phone is in there somewhere.

The main problem with the other phone talking is it brings out the insecure who identify with their devices and have to defend or cheerlead them and ends in constant pissing contests with the people who do that with the device that is the topic at hand. People like me who do not personally identify with devices have to wade through the endless crying and playground antics to read about the topic at hand

Well after receiving an email from Best Buy today saying my Note 7 order had been delayed (was supposed to receive today) and would be delivered within 30 days I was pleasantly suprised when the phone actually did deliver today! Can't wait to try this thing out again will report back my personal findings regarding lag, pros and cons etc after a few days of usage.

Loooove Flossy but he's a total Android guy. I personally find comparisons between the OS's at this point a waste of time.

Turned on my AT&T Note 7 and went to system update and it's showing that there are none. I was under the impression that I should be getting an update turning my battery icon green (among other things). I used the Samsung IMEI checker to verifiy that my new device isn't an affected unit and it's not but not getting the update is making me think that I possibly have old stock? Not sure if that makes sense cuz wouldn't ALL the phones (affected or not) get the AT&T update and only the unaffected or fixed ones have the green battery icon?

Time, because it rules EVERYTHING!
I've owned both. No idea what you mean by "poor quality device". iPhone 7 Plus feels sleek yet substantial in the hand. I have a matte black, and owned Note 7 black. Form factor on the Note was better but the feel of it wasn't. Material felt somewhat greasy to the touch whereas the 7 Plus feels just right. Definitely prefer the feel and look of the matte black 7 Plus to the 6S too.
[doublepost=1475063673][/doublepost]

Maybe? I was hoping maybe Sammy tweaked the software a bit.

IMO the iPhone 7 is cheap, the Taptic feeling is horrible, and the way the entire thing vibrates hen the speakers are turned up is awful. The top speaker is poor quality too on it's own.

Neither do you, either the note 7 or the iPhone 7 plus.
I never stated they didn't show a difference, just didn't show as much of a difference as you clearly want people to believe.

Pictures don't lie.

You stated their was not much difference, I stated I will listen the folks who actually have both as they seem contradict your claims.

Do you have an active AT&T sim installed? I think it needs to know it's active on service (not just wifi) to get the update... but I could be wrong.

The first time I checked I didn't have an AT&T sim in and it said no software updates available and to check back in 24 hours. Then I put in the sim and same thing happened. WOnder if I just have to wait the 24 hours and check again..

You can change your date in settings and try as many times as you want, but every time you try it resets you another 24 hours.

When you first set up your Note, it'll give you options to do this. The app to do this is called Samsung Switch, and it's pre-installed on the Note. No data connection needed.

Shouldn't I be getting this update though? Forgot how android/samsung updates work. Are they randomly pushed to you or is it like APple when they release an update you just go into software updates and it's there?

Edit: Changed the date manually and that seemed to do the trick! I guess because the first time I checked I didn't have a sim in it was waiting 24 hours to check again. Thanks spine..
