Definitely a wicked time to pick up a Note7. In Canada Rogers is reintroducing it for under $400 for a 2 year plan. Not bad as it was $550 new.

Well I've given in. I ordered a Note 7 from Clove last night. £680 smackers!!

I put my S6 Edge + on my work's internal intranet for £350 and it went immediately. Thinking I could have charged more now!!

Yep, but dont expect any of our local Samsung haters to post that part, it ruins the narrative they are wanting to push, lol.

Let's not forget the usual suspects who don't initiate those posts, but are more than happy to give weight to those posts by hitting up that like button for said posts. At the same time, they never hit the like button on the posts that discredit those initial "confirmed reports." And they swear they're as objective as anyone can be. ;)

Its important for them to stick to the narrative, even when it keeps getting rubbished and being shown to being nowhere near as bad as they want to make it out to be.

I've sat back and had a good laugh at all of it I must say, these guys will post stories that have so many holes in them, I mean the Jeep story, the Note 2 story, the tablet story etc etc etc... And when the holes are pointed (ones that any logical person would've picked up on) they get very defensive. Interestingly enough, mostly guys who probably would not have even bought a Note 7, thats the sad part.

I am genuinely interested in getting a Note 7, but the rubbish posted by our local Samsung haters has had me avoiding this forum. In other forums the Note 7 discussions are civil and logical, and it has been interesting to see posts from ACTUAL Note 7 users who went through the process, not just some haters with their own agendas.

The note 2 story always had no relevance in this thread ... it should never have been posted here as a Note 7 incident when the article clearly said Note 2 and given Samsung SDi didn't actually come into existence until 2 years after the Note 2 came out, it has no relevance to the N7 battery recall issues.

Anyway back on topic, are the N7's actually available in J'berg then ? (To buy now) and if so are South African models the same 'F' variants as the European ones ?

Sadly seems Clove won't have them in till end of the month, but I'm tempted myself. Because of the currency conversion it would actually be cheaper to buy it from Clove instead of what I pre-ordered with Vodafone here for (€790 Clove, €820 Vodafone) ... Plus I wouldn't have to debrand it as it should come with BTU variant firmware .... With Vodafone still cagey on when or if they will stock it here now, it may be the way I have to go.

Someone was selling an un-exchanged Note 7 on Irish classified adverts but they wanted €800 ... There was no takers at that price especially as seems an air of uncertainty as to why the seller hasn't had it replaced / exchanged.

They are available only for the people with recalled units :( the rest of us have to wait until late October at earliest it seems. I am honestly eyeing the LG V20 at this point, LG SA say late this year, if it arrives in Oct or early November I may just go with it.

I was so close to getting it (the Note 7), literally a week before the recall they had begun delivery of preorders and carriers were getting their stock. My Voda 'Upgrade Guy' was waiting to put a beautiful Black Onyx aside for me and then BOOOM! They began exploding, and my Note 7 dream began going the way of the Titanic.

We got the F (Exynos variant) to indeed.

Yeah, the issue I am facing is I have already invested over €100 in accessories before they cancelled the launch here too.

If Vodafone and Three decide that they won't get the phone in at all now, and that's possible as Vodafone here are not even doing replacements, just refunds. It means that if I don't import one, then I am €100 down and the demand for the cases and screen protectors will be minute that they won't sell ...

I am very intrigued by the V20's audio and cameras hardware wise, but really don't like LG's skin. Plus it's another device i would have to import.

The Pixels could be OK but I'm expecting prices as high as iPhones ...

So the Note 7 despite the ongoing messiness, is still one of the only phones that's tempting me. But don't know whether I should just chalk up my loss on the accessories and look at something else or simply keep my S7 which I am genuinely happy with overall ...

Now that is quite a dilemma, I cant even try advise as you never know what Voda and Samsung are saying to each other behind closed doors, but the fact that they are just doing refunds is worrying.

Maybe wait a bit and hang on to the S7 for another month? It seems the logistics in areas like Europe, the Middle-East and Africa, are still not 100%, Samsung are focussing heavily on the USA and parts of Asia 1st.

Some days I just wonder if I should forget upgrading this year altogether and wait for next year, this Note 7 debacle is truly off putting, I must say.

Yeah I will just hold onto my S7 for moment and see what happens. Maybe in a couple months eGlobal will carry them at decent prices. Will have to wait and see, but I'm not going to just rush ahead, if anything the N7 incident has been something to make me consider if jumping onboard at launch of these devices is really the sensible thing to do. Like i said previous here, the start of 2016 looked amazing for smartphone devices but since summer and now into fall and winter it's all a become a bit of an anticlimax.

OK then, Rogers has put the price right back up to $550. Well that was quick. Jeez that was only one evening at that re-release price.

I haven't been following the thread but I am in the market for a new phone after returning my iPhone 7 plus. Is the exynos version available to buy in the US? I was waiting for it to be available on BH Photo website then the recall hit and its not even listed on the website. If anyone knows where to order a new exynos note 7 please let me know

The exynos variant won't be available until it begins to hit retail within Europe and other parts of the world.

Possibly October 28th to sometime in November.

Just keep an eye on B& H or you could import from the likes of Clove.co.uk who will ship to the USA or alternatively keep an eye on Hong Kong based retailer eGlobalCentral who will hopefully carry the exynos variation when it becomes available. They will offer better pricing than Clove or Expansys.

Absolutely agree, although I jumped on both the S4 and Note 4 on their launches and have never had issues, I think we have been lucky.

Even with cars, its best to wait sometime before buying a whole new model, around 2years into production is best. With smartphones a month or 2 may be best.

Had the Note 7 arrived at our respective countries same time as US, we'd both be now waiting for replacements and worried that our new phone may burn up at anytime.

Cant help it though, when you want something you want it now, if I wait for the S8 Edge or Note 8 I'll probably get them at launch and swallow the early adopter issues.

I'm fine with having some bugs on a new phone as long as they get fixed. What always worries me is things like overheating or terrible battery life that just can't be fixed. My last experience with the first one was with the Sony Z5 Compact because the touchscreen felt just a little bit hot at all times, enough to feel uncomfortable. With my Oneplus One I get none of that and I hope the same is true with the Note 7. I understand that the phone will get hot when you initially restore from a backup but that is fine as it is not the norm.

Manufacturers insisting on the metal backs is not necessarily a good idea. While it surely helps dissipate heat, I'd rather not feel the heat from the phone when I use it.
