Everyone looking forward to the follow up to this story? As an actual owner of a replacement Note7, I'm definitely interested in the full complete story. So far everything is running smoothly for me. Not a single sign of anything running hot. Knock on wood. Hopefully the follow up is posted here just as quickly as the original story. Regardless of the results, I can't imagine anyone would only want half the story.

Evidently Google search isn't working on your device. You sure everything is running smoothly?

Thankfully this is an open fora and not anyone individuals personal playpen where they get to dictate the conversation.

I'm sure there will be follow up posts regarding the issue, especially if it turns out to indeed be a battery at fault. However it is in Samsung's hands and it is up to them to release a statement on this latest incident.

There onus is on Samsung to do so and not on any individual to supply that data. If anyone is feeling aggrieved by that, they should perhaps address that with Samsung themselves.

If you are happy and content with your device, these reported incidents and the discussion here thereof are not dependent on each other. It is possible to discuss these reports without feeling your devotion for the device threatened, that you feel the need to stem any discussion around the ongoing issues.

Issues that do directly affect many of us who have not been given the opportunity to even purchase the device, and on going reports which could make that likelihood of doing so an ever decreasing chance. We have as much right to discuss these, as you have to enjoy your Note 7.

If you don't like the flow of conversation, do something else. But stop demanding we appease you by censoring the topic of discussion to only things you want to hear.

That by the way would be only hearing half the story, which as stated; why would anyone only want that ?

I think you're right. This has certainly created an element of distrust for Samsung phones all round I think. The good thing is it'll push people to other Android makers that may have been in Samsung shadow until now. Plenty of choice out there.
Unfortunately though none of the other Android manufacturers come close to Samsung in overall design and build quality.Software?Yes.Hardware?No .I had hopes from Google but something about the Pixel didnt quite seem right to me.

I'm interested in seeing what the results of this airplane thing is, not making any judgments until the investigation is complete but man if this is another major issue then I'm done with Samsung. Already a little peeved about the first recall and then to top it off I happen to have one of their washing machines that have the potential to "explode". This would pretty much put the nail in the coffin for my purposes. The Note 7 is an awesome device for sure but not worth it imo if these QC issues with the company continue to persist.

Absolutely a fair comment. I totally agree.

Even if it was an isolated incident, I would be miffed if it results in airlines banning the phone or not being able to use it onboard. That would be inconvenient enough that I would not buy it.

Why are you so bitter? The only people censoring anything, are people that don't give the full story. But you really don't seem to have an issue with that. I'm asking for the full story and not feeding into the fear mongering the way you are. It seems you're the one with the issues with the flow of this thread. You're the one with all the accusations. I'm just saying I'll wait for the actual results of the investigation before making a judgement of any kind. I have a right to say such a thing. That's my input to this discussion. Why do you have such an issue with that? Telling people to go do something else is censoring the conversation. It seems you only wanna read posts that agree with you.

Doctor friend has been waiting for the Note 7 and now has to go in another direction,

What are his options for phones with a stylus?

You've taken this way too personal. Having a discussion means possibley hearing things you may not agree with. No need for personal attacks.

Depending on what market he's in and how quickly he needs a phone, I'd say, wait for the results of l the investigation if he has the time. If he's in North America, just go for the Note7. For now, the facts are, it's been cleared for sale once again. But if he wants to play it safe wait for the results of the investigation.

I'm keeping my Note 7, just too good of a phone to give up. I guess they will have to pry it out of my dead, burned hand. In other news I am still driving a car, crossing the street, and eating food, damn the risks.

Yeah, my Note 7 is running great. Compared to my iPhone 7 plus, it's just a step above (and I like my iPhone 7 plus). With my note 7, not only did I get a year of Netflix, I got the Gear VR, too. And, on swappa, I got a new Gear fit2 for $70.00. Seriously, my replacement (my original was good, too) doesn't get very warm. After the update to get the green battery icon, it runs better. Hopefully, there is not another recall.

In all seriousness: what are you guys gonna do if they issue another recall? Would you try to keep your devices or hand them in?

Good question. Truthfully, my Note 7 is running well. At this point, I'll have to wait and see. Having both the Note 7 and iPhone 7 plus, the Note is so much sleeker. Also, to me, it runs better. Videos are quicker to load, the camera is great (though the 7 plus is good, too), and the screen is just better. Plus, like a lot of ios folks, I have a lot invested into android (specifically Samsung). So, hopefully, I don't have to make that choice. If I had to turn it in, I probably would get another Note 5 (great phone, but the 7 is better). Compared to the 5, the 7s s pen is much preferred; it's thinner and writes clearer. Plus, the software improvements are nice.

Are the S-Pens backwards compatible? If so and there is another recall I suggest you "lose" the S-Pen when you turn it in :p

If there's another recall we will hand them in. No smart phone is worth the risk of a house fire. I have spent the past couple of years watching one of my dearest friends rebuild her and her family's life after a house fire whose cause was never determined. They fled with just the clothes on their backs. They lost everything but their lives. They're grateful for that much but it hurts and is traumatic.

I really did not know exactly how volatile lithium ion batteries are until this Note 7 stuff happened and I got a crash course in it all. Oh sure, I knew you can't throw batteries in an incinerator, duh. But I didn't really conceptualize the risks they can pose just sitting around in closets and drawers. I have a lot of older lithium ion batteries belonging to robots and various other gadgets. I need to take stock of their condition and look into safe storage. We also have really old cell phones and camcorder batteries, some are lithium ion and some are older tech. I never gave them much thought, I just assumed they were inert. I was used to old fashioned alkaline batteries leaking and making a mess, but didn't know the newer batteries could cause problems as they age. There is a lot about battery safety I need to learn.

Getting back on topic of the Note 7, well I guess I'm in sort of an owners limbo. I'm really enjoying this phone every day, but it's upsetting wondering if my time with it is limited. Because of all the new and older phones I could get, this is my favorite. It's frustrating because it's so perfect (to me) except for the shadow of potential safety issues rearing its ugly head again.

That's the biggest shame of all of this.

The Note 7 was / is perhaps the most feature packed android smartphone (the V20 is pretty close though) and had this issue not have occurred it would have been a major hit for Samsung and really help address their profits after declining flagship sales the last few years which the success of the S7/S7e looked set to do, and now this ... No one could have predicted or foreseen such unfortunate series of events (including Lemony Snicket).

None, zero!

The Note series stand as the only series of smartphones where the stylus is fully integrated from hardware (WACOM Digitizer, the way it gets power from the device without needing a battery etc....) and in software, even LG and Apple's solutions don't come near what Samsung has done with the Note range.

If they already have a Note 4 or Note5, they must rather wait until next year.
