Now the only question i have would be if i would have to return everything else I got in the deal (bogo S7, $50 gear classic, free tab s). Last time they said I would have to stick with a samsung if I wanted to keep them, which ment either another S7 (see no point in that), an S7 Edge (prefer the regular S7), or the S7 Active (again prefer the regular, plus i see no point in having bot the regular S7 and the Active version). If thats the case, I'll hold on to my Note 7 for a while longer until the investigation is done.

If I dont have to give anything back, then an LG V20 may be in my future.

If I can keep everything and simply return it, then a Pixel maybe in my future.
I'm in the same boat as you. My husband and I got the two Gear S2 Watches and we got the BOGO deal for his Note 7. I think at this point we would say this is freaking ridiculous and let us keep the freebies for going through all of this--if there is another recall or if we decide to trade ours in.

I would totally go for the LG V20 if I weren't so stinking scared of the boot loop issue. First it was LG G4s that had it and then it was cropping up left and right in the LG V10s. I don't know what the odds are of having this happen to me but after this Note 7 thing I don't want to play anymore lotteries with such expensive phones possibly experiencing epic failure like that.

My husband is happy with his Note 7 so I don't think he will trade unless there is a recall. Ideally I would keep mine. But I am seeing some weirdness crop up in mine like when it plays my Apple Music playlists or my Google Music play lists over my Bluetooth speakers it will stop suddenly in the middle of a song and skip to the next track. It's actually been doing that for awhile but now it's happening every time I play my music as opposed to once in a great while as it did in the beginning. I'm not sure what's going on. I've rebooted and checked my apps and don't see anything amiss. My S7 loaner, crappy overheating melodramatic mess that it was, never did that. My SE doesn't do that.

And then there is the whole issue of where I can't fast charge it because the whole phone and charger get scary hot but my old Note 7 and neither of my husband's Note 7s ever did that. So I am keeping an eye on it and bracing myself for the possibilities.

I'd be willing to try the Pixel but they're sold out and not sold through my carrier. If AT&T is only allowing exchanges that pretty much leaves me with an S7 or a V20 for phones that can record stereo audio video and take decent pictures. I am interested in the iPhone 7, but not for this line. I want to keep this line open for Android phones or I'll end up with all my eggs in one iOS basket again.

What is this boot loop issue?

The last thing Samsung needs to do is speed up development of any of their devices at this point--that may have been exactly what did them in with the Note 7.

I'm not a Samsung smartphone customer or fan but if I was, for the sake of the brand, I'd prefer they take a little extra time if it means dotting their i's and crossing their t's in regards to quality control and performance.

Was about to post the exact same thing.

WOW! Breaking News: AT&T considering permanently ending Galaxy Note 7 sales!

Damn, Samsung...

http://www.theverge.com/2016/10/7/1...t=chorus&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter

Actually the article doesn't say anything is confirmed it's just a rumour.

"AT&T is considering ending all further sales of the plagued Note 7, according to a report from Bloomberg tonight"

Considering ... And from an outside source which means until we hear otherwise it's just speculation.

As much speculation as it was when I posted that carrier's here may never sell it again as they are not offering replacements and only issuing refunds, with note 7 pulled entirely from online mention other than in complaint return threads on their customer fora, an no date for restocking the device at all.

It's seems therefore like a safe bet that it won't be sold here in the future, but until carrier's here say themselves what the story is, it's still just speculation here on my part as much as the Bloomberg story is.

However....

No doubt a report like this however will prompt an official statement from AT&T sooner rather than later.

Whilst it's certainly costing Samsung $ to sort this, it likely is also costing carrier's a lot of unforseen $ in man hours dealing with it and the returns processes involved both in store, online and over the phone.

----- this is speculation (conjecture/hypothesis) if the rumour proves true ------

If they did pull out in such a fashion, i think it wouldn't be surprising to see a daisy chain affect ripple through the remaining US carrier's. No carrier will want to be seem as the ones who put customers at risk..

As discussed by some of us here controversially if this is cancelled by carrier's, and in turn Samsung, i can not see how Samsung could rebuild the Note name. It would carry too much negative baggage.

I think we will 100% see a new S-Pen device in the future. But it may not be called a Note. It could be just the S8 Pen, to go along with S8, S8 Edge.

So would this make my unlocked Att Note 7 be worth more or less? Trying to figure out when to sell, I have it listed for $775

I wonder how many folks are done with Samsung all together? I guess less early adoptions too?

Can't you return it to AT&T? They might take it back and you can get more $ back + have an opportunity to go iPhone, Pixel, or whatever else?

Wait, would this mean no software support either? Like no updates?

It will probably be discontinued, so no more support is expected. Don't forget, AT&T isn't obligated to provide updates, especially one with significant health concerns.

A dearth of quality phablets doesn't help. LG's boot looping makes it a no go in addition to their ugly UI. The Nexus 6P isn't available through AT&T. Huawei Honor 8 has some low reviews through sites like Best Buy. HTC doesn't have a phablet. The Moto Z isn't available through AT&T. Windows cancelled any potential Lumia XL plans. So the choices are boot loop, exploding phone, redundant iOS experience, smaller S7 with hardware issues (exploding history too), or S7 Active.

Might want to try the S7 Active since it's a nice looking phone, but I can't trust Samsung now. I prefer my iPhone 7+ experience so far. It's great as long as your phone doesn't hiss. My phone's hissing is too quiet to notice unless I put against my ear. If you want to dabble on the cheap size, there is the Lumia 950 for less than $300 with AT&T. Their Android selection = rock and a hard place for those who know cell phones.

Oh goodness, you haven't heard of the S7 Active "scandal"? That was the hot topic on Android forums before the Note 7 started exploding. First off, Consumer Reports forced Samsung to acknowledge that there was a manufacturing problem that resulted in many S7Actives being far less water resistant then their non ruggedized counterparts. In fact they absolutely failed to have any water resistance at all. So Samsung fixed the problem but they and AT&T refuse to help customers determine if they are buying a repaired version. They both will only honor the warranty and that's all.

But it gets worse. Apparently according to many members on Android Central, their Actives are developing spontaneous cracks in the glass. So frustrated Active owners are warning people to steer clear. At least that was the situation I saw there about a month ago.

I'm just going to hang onto my Note7 and have my husband check it out. I'm hoping there won't be a recall.

LG phones are self destructing via something called a bootloop. They just spontaneously reboot over and over and you can't do anything with them. You can only replace them. Some people on various sites and discussion areas claim their replacements died the same way. I've seen people claim to be on their third or fourth replacement. It seems to happen on all their current models like LG V10.

Here in Sweden, all carriers but one have erased all traces of the Note 7 from their sites.

Bah. I really hope Samsung doesn't mess up the re-release too. It would be too sad if this device didn't get a proper shot at existing at all. I still want one, more than anything else on the market this year.

I heard about the S7 Active not being water resistant enough and damage the screen, but Samsung acknowledged the defect and offered warranty support. If that's the case, there is no flagship Samsung phone that offers a no-frill experience. It's a shame because their products are their best ever excluding all the defects.

Im in the U.K. and was lucky(?) enough to get one of the preorder UK ones before it was pulled. I got my replacement last week and it's working fine, better than the original in fact but that could just be placebo. But, if there's another recall it's going back and I'm asking for a full refund. I bought it direct from Samsung and not a carrier though so it wasn't as easy as it seemed for some of the posters in the US and I can't just walk into my nearest carrier so this should be fun. I also don't want to have a nonsupported phone in terms of software and I worry about the resale value, never mind the constant thought of is this thing going to go on fire? I really hope for Samsungs sake that these 2 or 3 latest reports aren't directly because of the battery, and there is something that doesn't sit well with me on the reports. The first one, the SouthWest flight, the pictures floating round the web show the actual phone? If so where is the subframe damage done on the plane? I'm just not seeing it. The second with the Taiwan woman in the park, wheres the damage when the phone was thrown on the ground. I thought these things scratched easy? Just my thoughts. I'm not starting a fight but if someone can show me the pics I'd appreciate it. By the way, @MRU I'm just outside Belfast in NI. If you really want a Note 7, gimme a PM! One careful owner, 'safe' Note 7. Illhave to work out a way to get it via Royal Mail though...

What a shame, it looks like the Note 7 is done for. Every single piece of publicity will be magnified and scrutinized x1000. Why did this have to happen to what is by FAR the best phone of 2016? I have no idea what phone I'm going to replace it with, maybe it's better to save a ton of money and grab a Note 5 until next year.

Looks like they'll have a hard time shaking this off. If the re-released models are still going pop then they've got huge problems coming.

My contact is up in a few months and was weighing up a flagship earlier. I was leaning heavily towards the Note7 so hopefully things get sorted and there's justifiable reasons why these incidents are happening.
