In all seriousness: what are you guys gonna do if they issue another recall? Would you try to keep your devices or hand them in?
There is an early release of the S8 rumored.Samsung knows the Note 7 is out of the running. They will speed up development of the S8.Hopefully they do a better job on itThat's a good question, I'm not sure. I'm kind of stuck, the iPhone kind of sucks technologically for my needs, the Pixel really sucks, and there is nothing really on the market that I feel is worthy of my hard earned money otherwise. I might just go back to the Note 5 at that point, it's still a better phone than any 2016 phone released by far.

The last thing Samsung needs to do is speed up development of any of their devices at this point--that may have been exactly what did them in with the Note 7.
I'm not a Samsung smartphone customer or fan but if I was, for the sake of the brand, I'd prefer they take a little extra time if it means dotting their i's and crossing their t's in regards to quality control and performance.
Note 5's are getting good money here in NZ, used.
I gave mine to my partner, she likes it but it's kinda a waste on her really, the didn't even know it had a pen until I showed her lol. Still, it's a great phone.
If the Note 7 turns out to be dangerous (in the kinda scale that would worry me), I'll get an S7 edge...

This is the kind of line from Note7 owners that's worrisome. If the company recalls the device, I can see some stragglers out there deciding the risks are worth it. Hopefully if Samsung is forced to take the device off the market, they brick all existing Note7's out in the wild and force owners to exchange or refund.
The original risk was something like 24 per million, or 0.1% according to Samsung. I know some stats wiz ran the numbers and it's still less of a chance than dying in a car accident or choking on food, even if we magnified the numbers. I'm NOT saying it's ok to use the recalled phone, I turned mine in and would turn it in again if a 2nd recall happened. But if there is no 2nd recall I'm not thinking twice about keeping and using the phone. The biggest drag will be if it can't be used on a plane or boat, but I'd usually have my 8" tablet at that point.

If it's determined to be a replaced Note7 and Sammy doesn't issue a recall, the FAA will likely ban the device entirely from flights regardless.
Yeah I can see that happening with the immense amount of publicity this is getting. If it doesn't get recalled but the FAA bans it I'll be a bit pissed if Verizon doesn't take it back. Sprint and ATT already announced they will exchange even replaced units for any other phone. My last day to take back the Note 7 is Sunday, but I really really want to keep it.

Not sure as they didn't say. I read somewhere though Verizon says indefinitely.Wow, any idea how long? It will be nice to know I have some extra time to decide.
[doublepost=1475875255][/doublepost]BTW my lag is back In all fairness I am rooted so it may very well be my own fault. I'm playing with it and seeing if I can find an offending app.
Yep. All it takes is one poor programmed app.Wow, any idea how long? It will be nice to know I have some extra time to decide.

Edit: Uninstalled Rootcloak and device seems back to lag free self again. Scary how a single app can affect so much.
I disagree, plenty of great choices for Android this yearI do feel for the guys who want an Android phone as their daily driver right now. I normally carry both OS's, but I"m pretty satisfied with the iPhone 7+ so I can wait out a bit for a decent Android alternative. Pixel doesn't do much for me, LG V20 looks aight. The new Asus Deluxe 3 sounds amazing on paper but I have no idea what their track record is like.
In short: not a great season for Android phones.
Now the only question i have would be if i would have to return everything else I got in the deal (bogo S7, $50 gear classic, free tab s). Last time they said I would have to stick with a samsung if I wanted to keep them, which ment either another S7 (see no point in that), an S7 Edge (prefer the regular S7), or the S7 Active (again prefer the regular, plus i see no point in having bot the regular S7 and the Active version). If thats the case, I'll hold on to my Note 7 for a while longer until the investigation is done.
There are only 4 Android handsets that interest me, the Note, the S7, the V20, and the Pixel. After the Note, the Pixel would probably be my choice but it's not available on at&t and then it's a toss up between the S7 and V20, with the S7 being water proof and having better software, while the V20 has the larger screen and removable battery, neither of which I feel are as good as the Note 7 or Pixel XL.I disagree, plenty of great choices for Android this year
The Pixel is way overpriced IMO. Google isn't a premium brand so they can't charge Apple prices. The Nexus line wasn't a huge seller and yet they offered great value for money. Who on earth is going to spend iPhone and Samsung Note money on a Pixel XL? I see them tanking bigtime. There are only 4 Android handsets that interest me, the Note, the S7, the V20, and the Pixel. If only the Pixel was on at&t, this would be much easier.
