What a shame, it looks like the Note 7 is done for. Every single piece of publicity will be magnified and scrutinized x1000. Why did this have to happen to what is by FAR the best phone of 2016? I have no idea what phone I'm going to replace it with, maybe it's better to save a ton of money and grab a Note 5 until next year.

Might be a good idea to wait like you said.

Yeah, I'm taking mine back tomorrow to AT&T. Done with this mess. I love the phone to death, but I am not going to be stuck with it either. Sadly I sold my 6s plus and no longer have a good phone to use. Will have to use a crappy lumia 640 to get me by till I either get a new ip7+ in or LG V20.....

I seriously can't understand why are people still using this phone.

If I were an owner, even of a replacement device, I would turn it off until confirmation about these new explotions.

Wow, doesn't look good for Samsung. Tomorrow is my last return day, although Verizon did say they would exchange it after that due to these incidents. But at least tomorrow I can get a refund and maybe grab a Note 5 from swappa, they are trending under $300 now and still trounces phones released in 2016.

I still have till Wednesday to return mine for my 14 day period. So I will give Samsung till Tuesday to say something, if not, I am done.

Im already past my return period, but it looks like that wont matter. At this point I think I will wait 3 more weeks and see if the rumor of the Pixel going to at&t is true. If it is, I'll trade it in for that, if not I'll do the v20.

Samsung is going to need a smash hit next year to win customer confidence again. They need to pull out all the stops next year

The only company who probably benefited the most from this is Apple.Wouldnt be surprised if sales beat expectations for them

If these replacement incidents are true, what did (or didn't) Samsung do?

I thought it was all on their battery division. Did they just use batteries other suppliers?

And where are LG?! Sniping a tweet here and there instead of capitalising by going big on the V20? Other OEMs should be trying to maximise this opportunity I'd think.

What rumors? Gosh that would be great of the Pixel, would come to AT&T. I'm not ruling out an S7 though but my sister-in-law just got back from a flight from Texas and said the flight crew wasn't letting ANY Galaxy phones be powered on. She had to show them she had an iPhone.

I used my Note7 tonight to make videos and take pictures of my mom's & dad's birthday party (they have their birthdays a week apart in September but celebrate together with my husband's family when my sister-in-law could join us). It did heat up really bad and then of course heated up some more backing up to Google. I guess it's normal to heat up while doing stuff like that but the thing is I made long videos just about a week ago and it didn't heat up while I was making those videos. That was a video I made comparing it to my 6S Plus. I held both and recorded a video as I walked through my house abd yard and tested how both cameras handle challenging lighting situations. It was a long video. Neither the iPhone nor the Note7 heated up then. I made two videos with each phone.

When my loaner S7 ran gave me all the problems of running hot it did so from the beginning. This one I've had since September 21st and played hidden object games and did emails and a really long phone call and many photos and videos and music though headphones and via Bluetooth to speakers. I think the only thing I haven't done is GPS. It overheated while fast charging from the beginning but ran cool doing all that stuff until just the past couple of days. Odd coincidence that it's just starting to run very hot when these other incidents are starting to happen. Well I guess I don't have to worry unless it starts running hot when it's doing absolutely nothing.

I'm not taking it back yet only because I won't have a chance until probably around next weekend.

I read on Android Police that the flight crew asked someone owning a Moto X to turn it off .Seems they are indirectly just saying that if it isn't an iPhone you can't turn it on

If these incidents aren't isolated like I first thought what was the point of the recall?Did Samsung just do a software update to make the battery icon green? They just can't be this stupid .Its like shooting oneself in the foot twice

Oh jeez, I bet Apple execs are loving that. Maybe Google was on to something in making the Pixel look like an iPhone.

I wonder if there was some sort of update to an app or the OS or something that's causing the system to flake out and overheat. Just like there have been updates that cause severe battery drain.

It's kind of crazy that two people would have their phones since September 21 with no problem and then within two days of each other we'd have these meltdowns now. And now my phone is running a lot warmer to hotter than it has been doing.

I don't expect mine to melt down but I am bugged it can get that hot making a video because I make a lot of family videos and don't want to have to worry about the phone overheating. My iPhones get hot, too, but they can record up to 30 minutes before that happens. I wonder if it's the Samsung Smart Cover case causing the overheating. I used one on the S7 that was also routinely running hot. I'll try my Ringke case I used on the first Note 7 and see if that helps.

This one is new and the worst I have seen, terrible look for Samsung here. Guess my Note 7 will probably be going back soon.

http://www.wkyt.com/content/news/Ni...ung-Galaxy-Note-7-catches-fire-396431431.html

NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. (WKYT) - Around 4:00a.m. Tuesday, Michael Klering says he and his wife woke up to a hissing sound in their bedroom.

SAMSUNG28.JPG

“I was scared to death for a minute,” Klering said.

Klering says when he opened his eyes, he saw his bedroom was filled with smoke.

“The whole room just covered in smoke, smells awful. I look over and my phone is on fire,” Klering said.

Klering said he had only had his replacement Samsung Galaxy Note 7 for a little more than a week before it caught fire.

“The phone is supposed to be the replacement, so you would have thought it would be safe. It wasn’t plugged in. It wasn’t anything, it was just sitting there,” Klering said.

Later in the day Tuesday, Klering said he started feeling sick, so he went to the Emergency Room.

“I was vomiting black so it was very scary. It was a lot of black stuff and it didn’t look right,” Klering said.

Klering provided WKYT with his hospital records that stated he was diagnosed with acute bronchitis. A Nicholasville Fire Department report was also taken after the hospital called the fire department to notify them that Klering suffered from smoke inhalation.

After an alleged replacement Samsung Galaxy Note 7 on a Southwest airplane at the Louisville airport earlier this week, Samsung released a statement to TIME: “Until we are able to retrieve the device, we cannot confirm that this incident involves the new Note 7. We are working with the authorities and Southwest now to recover the device and confirm the cause. Once we have examined the device we will have more information to share.”

Klering says Samsung also wanted possession of his device but he refused to give it up. Klering says the company did pay for him to have it x-rayed.

Klering says he felt Samsung was helping him, until he got a text message from a Samsung representative that was not intended to go to him.

That message read: Just now got this. I can try and slow him down if we think it will matter, or we just let him do what he keeps threatening to do and see if he does it

"It made me think you know they're not taking this serious enough and it's time to move on," Klering said.

So now Klering says he is seeking legal help. And, he says he just wants to get this information out to the public, so it doesn't happen to someone else.

"They're in kid’s pockets, people's cars, all kinds of things. We saw with the first ones. Samsung needs to do something to get these off the market,” Klering said.

WKYT did reach out to Samsung for a response. We have not yet received a statement.

Yeah you don't want to get caught up in media induced hysteria but these incidents are cause for concern because they're so unpredictable. With most battery meltdowns the owner had an accident or sat on it or used a cheap charger. These three incidents so far defy explanation beyond some kind of clustercluck going on inside the phone that nobody can predict.

This last one though sounds odd. Why wouldn't the man let Samsung take his phone for examination and what exactly was he threatening to do?

Do you really have to ask? Obviously because the idiot lied, and like your typical lazy American in 2016, he wants to file a lawsuit and collect money the easy way.

He's probably from Florida too because stuff like this usually happens there.

Yeah, my S7 gets pretty warm, but I really haven't had any problems with my Note 7, except that recently it's been having problems reconnecting to the network when I lose reception, I've had to restart it to get it to connect.

Yeah, that's scary that already there are 3 that have been reported, 1 of them was shut down and another wasn't being used when it happened. There doesn't seem to be any type of pattern as to why it happened.

I don't know where he is from originally but he's in Kentucky now. I'm southern, too, so watch it, mister. ;)

I kind of thought he might be trying to pull a fast one except he's got a hospital report claiming he's got a lungful of that nasty toxic smoke. I can't imagine compromising my health like that for any amount of money. But some people are bonkers.

Damn it Samsung you are making it harder and harder for me to defend you to everyone **** talking the Note 7.There is now even a mod made in GTA 5 where the Note 5 is modded into the game as a weapon

That unauthorised message that guy received makes it seem like Samsung isn't taking this seriously

Like I've said before these companies don't care about you or us. Just the pr hit/legal ramifications. Lol at giving Samsung some moral credit in the beginning of this ordeal. "Stepped up......" Lol. All that talk is pretty quiet now.

If this really is an issue with a mishandled recall the last thing he should do is give the phone to the company at fault. I certainly wouldn't trust that company to conduct a fair investigation if it could potentially cost them millions of dollars. The best thing to do would be to hand the phone to an independent third-party organization like the CPSC or hold on to it until testing is done on that other phone that caught fire.
