guess we will see on battery size and what else it comes with as you know something else should try and make people upgrade i imagine.

Remember and it's important to realise that is this isn't aimed at s7/S7e users.

I'm sure they know only a very small minority of current 2016 Samsung flagship owners, will side-grade to the Note.

No the new Note 7 will be aiming for those many European Note 3 & 4 owners who never got the Note 5, and those in other parts who did get Note 5 but we're disappointed with lack of SD card and waterproofing, and perhaps are now looking for the Edge screen of the current most popular Samsung flagship without sacrificing the things they like in the Note series.

So the specs when you take into account who this is primarily aimed at are still 2016 Flagship Specs.

Well if it's really the same specs as the S7 edge, smaller battery and only S Pen plus new storage system that would be such a downer.

Samsung seems set on becoming a form over function company which is sad.

Very true

The upgrade to this is the note 5 and not other devices.

I do feel though if the note 7 will have edge features and the same then maybe going forward a S line and a note line is all that's needed

But really is waterproofing & SD card that important?

I got a Note 5 & didn't immediately throw my hands up in the air in disgust at their omission. After all do you think people were buying a Note 5 so uninformed that they didn't realise beforehand that it lacked these.

Also I doubt that the market for the Note really care much if it has a curved screen as its target audience is not the same as the Edge devices.

Yeah it is

when you can spend 500-600 on a device and stick it with a 128-200GB SD card is pretty damn huge. Certainly when you can put alot of apps on it. Pics, Music, videos take up most of the space on a phone and this solves alot of issues.

Its why my 32GB is enough on my s7 edge where on my iphone i need pretty much at least 64GB to 128GB

The SD card slot is important if samsung are not going to offer more than 32GB of internal storage and moreover for me 128GB of internal storage. The S6 edge plus had limited release above 32GB and that made the phone dead on arrival for me. 32GB is just not enough if there is no option to expand it. I think Samsung tried to offer more internal storage with the S6/S6 edge line, they offered 32, 64 and 128Gb but I don't think many people were willing to pay for more storage. I suppose if they are used to being able to use a micro SD card they are not going to pay for more storage. iPhone users by contrast have always had to pay for more storage because an SD card slot is not an option.

Look at the sales of the S7/Edge phones this year. They brought back the SD card as one of the reasons. Then there are rumors the base model Note 7 will have 64GB storage and an SD card.

That responds to the memory card slot issue but not the other issues I mentioned with the OP.

I can't actually remember the last phone I phone I owned with a memory card slot as on the Android side before the Note 5 I owned a Galaxy S6 & before that a Nexus 6.

The note 5 was only available with 32 gigs of non expandable storage, which for me anyway, was completely useless.

If the note 7 , as rumoured, is 64 GB along with expandable option, I'm all over it. That's perfection.

The Note 7 is shaping up to be a worthy upgrade for Note 5 users.
1) Rumored slightly better camera
2) Better TW with the new UX software
3) Water proofing IP68
4) SD card and possible 64GB on base model
5) incremental speed bump with snapdragon/exynos processors.
6) enhanced S-Pen optimizations.

I wish they had a flat display model too but it doesn't look like. They are correcting the mistake of not releasing in the UK though.

I think I'll just end up getting the international version of the Note 7. Given that the 821 (823 is non-existent) is simply an overclocked 820 - and the performance difference between the Exynos and SnapDragon in the S7 was huge (not to mention the locked bootloaders across the US carrier ones, which I'm sure we'll see again with the Note 7 - regardless of John Legere tweeting out that his engineers will be talking to Samsung about unlocked bootloaders), I think that's a better option. Of course the biggest caveat is I have to wait to receive it - instead of picking it up day 1. But we'll see...

Actually same photos as the other ones - the source all point back to phone arena. The amount of tech sites that just recylce others articles is surprisingly large.
I know...flipping through some news sites on my iphone that say they have "new" Note 7 images posted 2 hours ago. Turns out to be from last week!

Yeah they all just continually trying to drive traffic and at times of a big launch they will post anything even tenuously related if they think it'll get them more page views ... Parasitic vampire articles I call them ...

If its only a repackaged S7 Edge with spen, I'll be highly disappointed. That being said, I'll probably still get one because at&t is requiring me to get a phone if I want them to cover the cost of my phones from t-mobile, and at the moment at&t has a buy one get one Samsung deal going which will hopefully include the Note 7 and that would cover it. But if not, I might just get the regular flat S7 or maybe the S7 Active.

Or maybe I'll just wait for the iPhone, but I really want off t-mobile ASAP.

I've never owned a Note (currently own the S7e) and there have been so many times that I want to draw on a photo or jot down a quick note with a pen (not type it in), so the Note 7 will do me just fine. The bonus for me is the 64gb standard internal storage, new UI, and of course the usual internal upgrades from previous gen phone. Maybe I am in the minority, but I really want that S-Pen functionality.

I saw on Reddit that the Note 7 will have a 3500 mAH battery. Is it safe to say the Note 7 is basically a S7 Edge with an S-Pen? It's hard to justify buying a Note 7 over the S7 Edge from the specs I am looking at.

You also get a free Gear S2 with the ATT deal!! I'm hoping they let the Note 7 count as well, that will convince me to stay with ATT versus going with Verizon. I plan on selling one of them right away while they are hot.

It pretty much is. You really have to want the spen, otherwise I don't think there is much reason to justify it. I'm usually first in line, but this year I'm only going to get it if someone has a BOGO and I can sell one of them. I'm getting a bit irked at these $900 phones.
[doublepost=1469325345][/doublepost]White looks super nice, but I think it's a mistake and looks terrible that they left the frame silver. A white color matched frame would have looked exceptional. http://www.techdroider.com/2016/07/galaxy-note-7-spotted-in-white.html

It also has the iris scanner, which the S7 doesn't

Maybe also a slightly better CPU plus bigger screen and new Touchwiz.

I'm starting to think more and more that I'll just go with the S7 edge. The note 7 doesn't sound drastically better than the S7 edge so far. I'm not fused about the s-pen. I've owned the original note and the note 3 and I didn't really use it. The note has always been a way to get a big high resolution screen for me and back in the day the specs were improved over the S series. Now I can get a big screen with virtually the same specs as the note. I'm wondering if I'd even notice the extra .2 inches. I've also been using the plus model for almost 2 years and I think that 5.5 inches might be the sweet spot for me. Plus I can get the edge in rose gold ;)

Yeah I'm seriously psyched for the black frame, it's those little things that can make you happy.

Can't say I blame you, the s7 edge is an awesome phone. Some BOGO deals going around as well which make it that much nicer, or just get it cheap on swappa.

hard to tell until it's out but

it will have more storage as well but yeah it depends what other features are added. Right now it appears it's more storage, bigger screen and S Pen features.
