It's a s7 edge with a slightly larger screen and slightly smaller battery. A good update for note 5 owners but no reason to upgrade for a s7 edge owner.

Agreed, would not off the top know why the s7e owners would EXECEPT to avoid false touches. That is a biggie as far as I am concerned though if the N7 truly minimizes that.

I have an S7e and I'm upgrading to the Note. I want the SPen and its functionality. That is my main reason.
Sames here....S=Pen....slightly better processor.....faster grace UX.....base model with 64GB and still has an SD card. Slight bigger display....not much mind you but that make a difference. Not excited about the iris scanner and will just turn it off.

Note 7 will have the same processor as s7 and grace ux will also come to s7.

And will be perfected by that point :)

Hopefully. Remember the swipe down FP scanner for the S5? They put that in the Note 4 and didn't get the FP scanner right until the Note 5 imo.

Is the snapdragon 820 processor any different ? The exynos variant is exactly same as the S7/e version.

I don't see it as a good upgrade from my Note 5. None of its supposed additional features are of that interest or sufficient to make me want to upgrade.

I thought the N7 was going to get the SD 821? That is just a very slight improvement over the SD820 but it is supposed to have power saving enhancements. I could be wrong though.

Are you sure? I read some rumors that the N7 was coming with the SD 821? Which isn't much but it does have some power saving features. We will find out for sure in a couple of days.

The global version is sticking with the same S7 Exynos. Samsung has no need to upgrade their CPU for the Note 7, as it was already well optimized. US version is getting the SD821. The real question is which GPU is being used for both global and US??? And which tracking sensors are being added for both the new Gear VR and being Daydream ready?

this was posted on AC forums from a guy who's had a hands on with the note 7

820 and 4GB of ram been confirmed

So I was lucky to play with the note 7 for a couple hours today....

What I learned:
Rumored specs are confirmed correct
64gb only variant.

This is the first phone ever that has "HDR".
Iris scanner works very well, even with glasses. Only complication is glasses IF there is a glare.

Phone is IP67 with or without the pen inserted.

Pressure sensitivity is DOUBLED!

Camera is exact same from the s7.

Software:

EXTREMELY REFINED! Looks a lot like that leaked video a couple months ago of the Samsung UX. No dramatic colors. Everything is refined and very flat. No abysmal colors in the status bar.

They have a Gif maker for existing or new videos.
Don't know if that's new...

Look and feel;

This phone feels slightly heavier, very solid and feels really comfortable in the hand. They refined the "edge" it's not as dramatic as the s7 edge and it's really well done. The edge is more used as a bezel remover and not a feature. But you still have the functionality.

The black Note 7 is actually a flat black. It's looks amazing. It looks like a bat phone. The color was eye catching on it..

Pre order is : August 3rd.

Release date is August 19th.

Pre order bonus ether : Gear Fit 2 OR A 256GB MEMORY CARD.

Pumped to order as soon as available! I had an S7 Edge, loved it. Gave it to my son when he broke his one plus one. I've been on an iPhone 6s+ since then (4 weeks) and I can't wait to go back to Android!

If it's really true that you can get the 256 sd card for free as a pre order bonus it would be awesome. This card costs 249€ in Europe.

The greater chances are that we won't get either bonus in Europe.

We don't seem to get the deals America does, we never see these 'buy one, get one free ' on brand new smartphone either. Annoying as we are already paying more for the devices than our USA cousins.

Yeah that's right but with the s7 edge we also had the gear vr as a pre order bonus so my hopes are high:)
It was very limited here compared to USA. Here in Ireland the free Gear VR was ridiculously limited.

The two biggest carriers Three & Vodafone were allocated 50 gear VR headsets each. That's it.

So the usual 'whilst stock last,' was used in the marketing Terms & Conditions, but it turned out that if you did not pre-order the exact second they were online you had no chance. Both carriers stock was allocated within the first 5-10 mins. However annoyingly both carriers carried on advertising the 'free gear VR ' promo even after all their allocated units were gone for weeks. It was really unfair on the consumer, the 'whilst stock lasts' disclaimer while making the misleading advertisment legally accurate, just imho was morally deficient.

I pre-ordered my Edge launch day but after about an hour and therefore missed the free Gear VR. However up until a day before I picked up my device i was under the assumption i was going to get one, it was only after reading someone's enquiry on the carriers support forum where they were highly fed up after being told that only 50 units were ever available for the whole network, that i enquired myself and the carrier went on to confirm that this was true and accurate.

But even then; what really irked, was they were still using free Gear VR 'whilst stocks last ' imagery on their website.

It was frankly an utter shambles. I was so disappointed.

In the end i had to buy a Gear VR, thankfully i got one for €50 new. But yeah it left a nasty taste in my mouth especially with the carriers here.

Sneak peak of the updated grace ui that's coming on the Note 7, ported over to the S6.
So we can now see that the graphic of the man wearing glasses with Iris Scanner was actually animated graphic - showing the person taking them off. So it wasn't an oversight or design mistake that we originally suspected it may be.

In the England it was limited to those ordered from the car phone warehouse and I think EE might have offered it in limited numbers. None of the other carriers had any offers.
