Yeah that's right but with the s7 edge we also had the gear vr as a pre order bonus so my hopes are high
It was very limited here compared to USA. Here in Ireland the free Gear VR was ridiculously limited.
The two biggest carriers Three & Vodafone were allocated 50 gear VR headsets each. That's it.
So the usual 'whilst stock last,' was used in the marketing Terms & Conditions, but it turned out that if you did not pre-order the exact second they were online you had no chance. Both carriers stock was allocated within the first 5-10 mins. However annoyingly both carriers carried on advertising the 'free gear VR ' promo even after all their allocated units were gone for weeks. It was really unfair on the consumer, the 'whilst stock lasts' disclaimer while making the misleading advertisment legally accurate, just imho was morally deficient.
I pre-ordered my Edge launch day but after about an hour and therefore missed the free Gear VR. However up until a day before I picked up my device i was under the assumption i was going to get one, it was only after reading someone's enquiry on the carriers support forum where they were highly fed up after being told that only 50 units were ever available for the whole network, that i enquired myself and the carrier went on to confirm that this was true and accurate.
But even then; what really irked, was they were still using free Gear VR 'whilst stocks last ' imagery on their website.
It was frankly an utter shambles. I was so disappointed.
In the end i had to buy a Gear VR, thankfully i got one for €50 new. But yeah it left a nasty taste in my mouth especially with the carriers here.
