I hope samsung will fix this soon

We have to wait and see tests of the exynos variant. The One plus 3 even after its ram update patch actually still has a lower default limiter than the normal for 4gb devices meaning it's still not using the full amount of memory it's actually capable of.

The Snapdragon s7 and S7edge had much weaker memory management than the exynos variant, indeed when speed tests were updated to include the exynos variant it was it that began taking top spot.

So perhaps it's not much of a surprise to see the snapdragon Note 7 have the same ram performance as it's siblings.

It likely does mean the Exynos Note 7 will be just as robust and efficient as it's siblings. I'm still able to get a good dozen or more apps open and backgrounded without refreshing. Indeed TAPATALK was still on the last post despite it being hours since I checked them and I've been out all day with emails being checked, photos taken and Facebook and social media posts as we were climbing.

Samsung do I concede need to answer why there is this discrepancy between the Snapdragon and Exynos variants. I am assuming it's some aggressive power save they have implemented on the 820 variant.

It's annoying more for you in the USA & Canada where the Snapdragon model will be sold, but for the rest of us - memory management should not be an issue. But Samsung should certainly address it.

Scrap That

Edit .... damn re-watched and realised it was the exynos variant he tested. Well that certainly has put the cat amongst the pigeons.

Must have introduced some aggressive power saving with the new Grace UX. I don't play games myself on my mobile, but it would certainly annoy me if there was the ram issue after both the S7e and S7 have been great for me ram wise.

Hopefully Samsung push out a fix for both variants, they should at least expect them to perform as good as their siblings.

The guy in the video says that is the Exynos version of the Note 7, going up against the Snapdragon powered One Plus 3. So not sure what's going on, but we should probably wait until it's released before we make judgements.

Hopefully they address it in an update.

I don't want to brag, but I know why my phone has a better speed test than the Note 7: hardware and software variations.

The Note 7 has to push out more pixels on a QHD screen, has more features than my OP3, provides more lines of codes for the S-Pen, has a larger display, offers an Iris Scanner, and that Touchwiz overlay asks for more resources.

Meanwhile, the OP3 has the same processor, a FHD panel, a smaller screen, near pure Android w/ Oxygen OS, 6GB of RAM, less features, and requires less resources to get the job done. The RAM management on this phone is actually really good post updates because I don't notice the issues people had at launch. That being said, OP took care of the bug issues quicker than the S6/S6 Edge w/ Samsung.

In this case, less is more in terms of software and benchmarks. However, it's not going to be better in real world usage. You can simply do much and have more with the Note 7. I rather shave a few seconds off on basic apps opening in a 5 minute span to get the Iris Scanner (even if slow and not as good as FP scanning), a S-Pen, QHD panel, water resistance, and the features the Note 7 offers than have pure Android in real world usage if both phones were equally priced. ($400 to $400 or $850 to $850). In reality, the Note 7 costs $450 more, so I am not going to pay up a premium for that.
[doublepost=1471104139][/doublepost]I want to pose a question for the Note 7 owners here:

If Samsung moves to one unveiling for the S8/Note 8, say in February, what would your thoughts be? Would you be frustrated that Samsung wants another $8XX USD or whatever the price equivalency is for the Note 8?

Reserved mine in coral blue from Samsung UK. Can't be doing with dark coloured phones as they always show up fingerprints too much. Hopefully this altered design will fix the part of the Note 5 design I don't really like and that's the rather 'sharp' edges to it.

Looks like the flagship to beat of 2016 supplanting the S7 edge for the throne.

Key feature for me - 64gb internal. Need it for downloading entire TV series over 30gb. Then plan to buy a $80 200gb micro-sd. Will make it my ultimate media player device since Samsung rules in display and battery life for video playback. Will fill it up with 100+ films in HD. Not really into flagships but why not settle for the best when you can? USB Type C to future proof it further unlike the S7 edge.

Want it in black. Wanted iPhone 7 but guess Note7 or LG V20 is calling me a little louder. And iPhone 7 can't do torrent apps out of the box. The 256gb iPhone 7 asking price is also a joke to me. Why need that much when it doesn't download movies for me anyway unless I JB it? Then issues with playing MKV and AVI files and no file manager app to move them.

In a year 777 with an S7 and iPhone 7, I guess the Note7 is the one to get.

Best Android Smartphones
2012 - Note II
2013 - Note 3
2014 - Note 4
2015 - S6 edge
2016 - Note7

Note7 regains its crown again from the S line. The best all-arounder has arguably been the Note series. Not Nexus devices. Not the S line. Not from LG, HTC, Sony, and Motorola. I can live with the name Note7 even though it should be Note6. The Note Edge count as a Note and the S6 edge+ as well. 7 is the God number. 6 is the devil. Go 7.

I think they will keep the two products in different quarters. The S8 will indeed be launched in Spring.

I'm excited to receive my Note 7, however, it wouldn't surprised me if it's same old Samsung when it comes to memory management and battery. But, I'm optimistic and hoping for the best.

I think that's the smart thing to do since it keeps Apple more on their toes, but if Samsung wants true unity amongst the S and Note lines, it would be released simultaneous. I don't like them being united in specs as it is. I want the Note to be the better of the two specs. However, Samsung has the ball in their court.

So what version are US getting? UK?

Guessing it's weaker than 820?
No the exynos is better than the 820 as proved with the S7/e that's what makes it troubling. UK is getting exynos, US 820.

US/Canada get 820
Everywhere else Exynos

Both speed tests now have shown both the 820 and Exynos perform relatively (emphasis on relatively) poorly ram wise compared to how the exynos S7/e did on speed test videos of same ilk.

Given its the same SOC we can only assume it's the software difference here that is causing the differential and therefore there is hope to a solution being patched into an update.

So the Note 7 wins with animation on, and the OP3 wins with animation off. I bet if that's done 20 more times with animation on and off, all you will see is inconsistent race results between the two.
It's more to do with the reloading of applications (games) whilst the OP3 despite it being limited still to 4gb (of its 6gb) with last ram update keeping them in ram. That was the main cause of OP3 winning the race rather than the minute animation scale differences.

I'm in the same boat. Excited to get the Note 7 and see for myself what it can do!
