Phones Galaxy Note 7

So I had my first day in store today for my part time CPW job (you may remember my previous post). Had lots of people in askin about the Note 7! Going to be a popular phone come release time I imagine.

We had 2 dummy units in the back for those who wanted to see them. A black and a blue. The blue looks NICE! I don't know whether I'd buy a blue phone, but I like this shade of blue a lot!

One of my co-workers wants one and has really made me want it too after we were chatting about it today. Damn you Samsung! I've never really been into Samsung's before but this is such a good looking device.

The added VR headset is so so tempting. Along with the staff discount of course ;)

When did you order ? Does your order number start with S0xxx or only numbers ?

My cousin just spoke with TMO and was told everyone who pre-ordered :

- Gets overnighted
- Ships today/tomorrow and remaining on Monday

Mine is from TMO and ordered the first morning it was available. My order starts with S0xxxx like yours. Can't wait to get this baby in my hands!

Nada on mine either, just preparing to ship. I don't think AT&T cares about impressing anyone. I've been really thinking about canceling my order and just buying the dual SIM international one off ebay. It' only $19 more than AT&T's version and it's only missing one AT&T band, and has all the Tmobile bands. But I'd lose wifi calling.

Have you tried to see if AT&T can send you a microcell? I never had luck, they always wanted me to pay full price, but I've seen in message boards others had success.
 
I haven't seen this posted here yet. Excellent feature overview and good look at the black color when it's in a case.

Edit: he actually has a bunch of note 7 videos.

Yeah I've had a microcell for years, I hate it. But wifi calling isn't anything great, my wife has issues with wifi calling on her iPhone 6s. I'm ok with losing wifi calling, but I'm not sure if I want to lose Samsung pay.

Do you want the spen, moreover will you use it after the initial buzz.Same with iris scanner.

If the answer is no, then your S7e is likely perfect device for you and there is no necessity to upgrade or at least 'side-grade'.

But for some tech nerds here even the small changes like 64gb, 0.2 inch bigger display, gorilla glas 5, better display, USB type C and the more ergonomic symmetrical design are enough reasons

Yeah agreed (but us nerds are very much unrepresentative of the whole) :)

if you were concerned about upgrade cost, and are very happy with what you have (it's still a 2016 flagship phone) and have no overriding need or desire for the exclusive note feature (s-pen) that makes a note, a 'note'; then you are probably grand out waiting this one out until either it's available cheaper or until something more appropriate comes along (in gadget world equates to 6 months tops).

It is easy to get swept away in the launch excitement & buzz on a forum like this, even for us gadget nerds.

I like that you have to swipe before the iris scanner activates. It allows you to check your notifications via the lock screen much like I'd press the power button on my iPhone, rather than home button. Don't see the problem personally

I guess that it just means there's a little redundancy there. If you have to wake screen via powerbutton or home button and then swipe screen to initiate the iris scanner, that same amount of time would have unlocked the device via fingerprint scanner. So from a speed perspective alone it's a bit counter productive unless you are wearing gloves or such.

You must ask yourself what are important things to update to a new phone for you.

For me it is Display, Camera, Performance and Battery.

Display is a little bit better on Note 7, you get 0.2 inch more display and higher brightness (1048 nits vs 855 nits) for HDR mode.
Camera is the same.
Performance with identical cpu/gpu/ram is the same.
And Battery with 100mAh less with a bigger display will be worse.

So for me a upgrade is not worth it, because i don't care so much for the s-pen.
And i know i will enjoy the new S8 Edge in six months much more with new hardware specs.

I'm going from S7e to Note 7. I find the S7e to be a bit too small for me. Really wish the note went up to 5.9-6 inches but I will take what I can get.

I am on JOD from T-Mobile so I am only out 4 payments of $30 on my S7, and I will get a free gear fit 2 so it is essentially a free upgrade for me.
