Well seems my problem may be solved to getting one.
My contract with Vodafone is due up in February. So I'd just need to basically buy myself out of it by paying 6 months line rental up front, which is around £300. I should be able to fetch over £250 for my Priv on eBay and the Lumia wouldn't be sticking around either I don't think so I would comfortably be able to take out an additional line and cancel my current one.

Comes at a good time too, as I've had that number for close to 10 years and am currently getting nothing but spam calls, texts about PPI and claims I've never made, so a switch may be a good thing.

I may be about to join the pre-order train!

Great post! Looking forward to this. Switching from an iPhone 6S to the Note 7. I've never had wireless charging.

Two of my three wireless chargers are fast chargers, too (the one on my nightstand is a regular speed one). If you can invest in the fast chargers, they're even better.

The camera will be on par w/ the Note especially with the rumored Dual Camera... But the screen I'm not so sure maybe once Apple move away from their current LED then it won't match the Note display.

It's a shame you only get the camera advantage with the Plus model. I wish Apple would take a page out of Samsung's book and offer the same exact camera on both models.

I think it all boils down to the S-pen for S7 edge users and addition to having the latest from Samsung, but if I had the S7 edge... I wouldn't go w/ the Note 7.

I think if you can push through the excitement and ignore the hype... you'll be just fine with the S7 edge.
What kind of sandwich is that in the photo with the grocery bag.

Man, a lot of people breaking down and pre ordering today. I pre-ordered the morning they were available.

Clearly if people are only breaking down in mass now; the trend has only just been set ;)

You my good man, were simply ahead of the curve

But yeah the sub fora regulars here are the worst intervention group ever assembled.

But it does go to show that pre-order incentives do work.

Good thing about Samsung there is always stock. They don't sell out as often or as long as Apple.
not really

it's been delayed in 3 other countries, sold out on samsung UK site as well. There's a 2-3 week wait on CPW sim free. On contract though thats different

Ahh.. you know Apple is all about profits. Even then how else can you distinguish between both models if you have the same camera... there needs to be some type of separate features besides bigger screen to set them apart.

I'd rather Apple set them apart by camera than going by RAM or Processor.

The glorious Galaxy Note 7 is what happens when a company isn't afraid to go crazy

Samsung’s wild experimentation over the years is now paying off

I once said at these forums how lucky we are that Samsung and LG have the money and resources to experiment the way they do (it was around the time both were trying to beat each other to the punch with curved displays). It seems I was right. We don't have to buy everything they throw at the wall, but the few things that do stick, we gain from that.

We should all -- including iPhone users -- be thankful Samsung exists for this industry.

BTW, interesting comment from Vlad Savov in the comment section:

You have no idea how much doubt and shade I threw at Dan while we were discussing his review scores. I couldn’t believe that this phone could be that polished and that beautiful. But honestly, I have a Galaxy Note 4 and the Note 7 is almost completely unrelatable to it. How you can fit a 5.7-inch screen into a device of this size is beyond me. It’s staggering.

Putting the Note 7 next to an HTC 10 makes the 10 seem so unrefined and chunky. The 10 has edges where the Note 7 has curves. Small things adding up to a big effect. And keep in mind that I actually like the Note 4 and HTC 10 designs, there’s precious little bad about them. Samsung just did an incredible job with the 7.

Maybe this will sound weird but does the black color look that good in real life like it looks on vids? :D Unfortunately i can't see them before pre-ordering and it's a tough choice between blue and black.

@Tsepz

On top of what Game161 has said, I would also add, if you invest in a few wireless chargers, and put them in different rooms, at work, etc., you can effectively "top off" your device throughout the day. That's what I do. I have three wireless chargers collected over the years (I wait for good discounts/sales/promos) and they're all placed in strategic locations. One on the nightstand next to my bed, one in my office at home, and one in my office at work. Anytime I'm laying down my device, I lay it on the wireless charger. Why not, right? So it's always topping off.

I can literally leave work after a full day, and be at 100%. All without ever dealing with a wire; all from just setting my phone down which is what I'd be doing anyway. Instead of setting it down on the table, I set it down on the charger.

This is what anti-wireless charging people don't understand. It isn't so much about "not dealing with a wire" (though that is nice), it's more about just always topping off your device whenever you set it down. It's a luxury and convenience.

I never worry about battery life anymore or check SOT or anything. I simply don't have to.

I'm highly confused by the anti-wireless crowd as well. The main thing that is streamlined for me is getting in and out of my car constantly and having to fiddle with a wire every time. With wireless I just plop my phone onto the charger and it's always at 100%. But don't short sell the beauty of not having to deal with a wire, it's the little things in life like picking up your phone in the middle of the night to check your baby cam and not having to fiddle with a wire.

just ordered the S view cover

not cheap but i like the thought of a built in stand

I plan on going "no case" with the Note 7, but I might do some form of a clear skin.

I've gone "no case" with my prior iPhones... started with the iPhone 5s. I just prefer the feel of the device... and my thought process is that Apple/Samsung put a lot of effort into making the device... such a shame to put a case on it.

I'm pretty careful when it comes to taking care of it... I've had my drops prior to the iPhone 5s to understand the cost of having them fixed.

Really? You wouldn't rather both models have the same camera?

With the S7 and S7 Edge, neither are compromised. They both offer the same RAM and processor. They also offer the same camera. The only major differences are the obvious ones: bigger screen, bigger battery.

I much prefer Samsung's method than Apple's.

Don't forget that the glass curve has been pushed out a bit, in practice that means less false touches, which was my experience when I played with one at BB. The false touches seems to be a consistent complaint and may be a good reason to change up.

I'm planning on using the official Samsung leather case. I have it with my S7 Edge and as nice as it looks, it's going to look even better with the all black Note7.

I like wireless charging, especially now that it's almost as fast as wired charging. But I still feel Palm did it best with the magnetic latch that positioned and held the phone in the proper place. It's been like 7 years now, when will someone else offer this?

My point being if Apple had to chose among Camera, RAM or Processor.

I'm all for Apple doing the Samsung method, but that's not Apple's way... they have to find some way to differentiate both models. If Apple just give a bigger screen and bigger battery for a $100 price hike... small percentage will go for that.

Granted a bigger screen/battery is nice, but $100 will not be justified to many people. They will be selling tons of the smaller iPhone and not many of the bigger iPhone, IMO. Heck, the SE is making huge strides... a smaller iPhone w/ the same specs of the bigger iPhone wouldn't give the profits Apple is looking for.

All of the colors look great in person, though the one that catches my attention the least is silver. I guess I'm just so used to phones that are black or white, so an in-between color (silver) seems sort of meh.

I'm not confused. It's rather simple actually: Apple hasn't done it yet.

Agree with all. Not having to deal with the wire is a lovely convenience.

The arguments from the anti-wireless charging crowds was that, well, the wireless charger itself has a wire, so it's not truly wireless (Apple said this themselves, too, BTW). Which is the dumbest argument. You're never fiddling around with the wire that plugs into the wireless charger like you're fiddling around with a wire that you plug into your phone. Why should it matter if there's a wire connected to the wireless charger? You never have to interact with that wire! Let's see Apple come up with a charger that doesn't need to be plugged into an outlet.

Another argument was that if you want to travel with your wireless charger, you would have to bring it all with you. Well, then just bring the regular ol' wall plug instead for trips (as one normally would have to do if they didn't own a wireless charger to begin with!).

I am quite literal when I say, "People simply won't appreciate -insert feature- until Apple does it."

BTW, very much looking forward to contactless charging one day. If it can one day work like WiFi, that'll be great.

Anyone know how long these Samsung deals usually last? Like the preorder and get a free Gear Fit2 watch or free MicroSD deals going on now. Or do new deals usually pop up? Are they usually better/worse than the preorder deals?

Reason I'm asking is because I'm very interested in switching from my 6Plus to the Note7 but I'd like to see what Apple shows off next month first. The current preorder deals are really good though.

Also, the last time I had an Android phone was 2013 (the original HTC One). Have they gotten "smoother" to use since? With the HTC One, the whole Android OS felt a bit laggy at times and not really as intuitive as an iPhone. Are Samsung phones different?

Yep, I understand the reasoning behind it. Simply saying, it's not the best thing for the consumer.
