My point being there is a place you can go to. And carriers charge you for insurance monthly... It's been years since I've gone that route.

But you would have to pay for Apple care for them to replace that, they wouldn't replace it under warranty as the norm.

I'm a sucker for leather. But how was the protection? There isn't really a lip for drops right? Also, I didn't see anyway to buy those yet.

There's a slight lip on the top and bottom that I think would help with very small drops (like out of your pocket), but definitely not a heavily protective case. I have a SquareTrade warranty, but also have never had a phone break on me (and that was without Gorilla Glass 5).

Take my situation out of the picture.

If I accidentally broken my screen I could "drive" to the Apple Store and have it replaced... granted I'll have to pay to get it replaced, but at least I can get the matter resolved.

Nexus 6P doesn't offer that, that's my point.

Bah...the gym ain't no safe zone! I abuse my note 5 in the gym and it's unscathed. While I'm serious, I'm just playing devil's advocate as well. But this time around I have already ordered a skinomi skin for the back of my N7 just to be safe. The Note 5 had an easily removable back and a new one cost about $18, but with the water proofing on the N7 I'm not so sure the back can be easily removed.

Oh it's definitely a danger zone. It was under that category I listed I believe. :)

Ok so my pre-order is done, complete.
I'm officially on board the Note 7 train!

Went for black, though did seriously consider the blue.

Now I just need to make sure I cancel my existing line and get the funds available for that for my next bill date.

Ended up going with Vodafone. Would have liked EE ideally, just because of their 4g speeds, but Vodafone gives me 30% off line rental so the £57 tariff ends up being about £40 which isn't bad at all for the amount of data and the free Sky Sports.

I am officially really excited!

I see what you are saying, Apple can do on the spot repairs without having to replace anything. I know the screen replacement is substantially less than an entire phone. With the insurance deductible and cost of insurance itself Apple is one of the few where it kind of makes sense not to get insurance because it's not much more expensive to fix damage. Definitely a good point and one where Apple excels.

Edit: Yeah just did some research, $129 to replace a 6s screen. This is less than the price of applecare and deductible. Even with 2 incidents on applecare it's still 129 + 79 + 79 = 287, still more than replacing the screen twice.

Insurance will cover lost/stolen phones though.

Can't wait for the MKBHD review on this thing but I think the hype is getting out of control a bit. Everyone seems so obsessed with how pretty it looks (for sure does) but what about the durability, functions?

Pulled the trigger this morning and preordered a Note7 upgrade. I was all set on holding out until I tried a demo unit at Best Buy and saw that display. Plus I like the all black rather than the black and silver on the S7 Edge.

I'm weird... I've seen plenty of reviews and unboxing of the Note7, but I haven't gone out and demoed it anywhere.

I don't wanna spoil the first experience of using it for the first time I plan on going to AT&T Friday morn and picking one up... Make sure they don't open it.. tell them to scan the box and take my money, so I can go on my way to enjoy the pleasure of unboxing it myself.

AT&T customer... Got my shipping notice and tracking number! Its in Fort Worth now with a scheduled delivery of tomorrow. Sadly, I live in Baton Rouge, so not sure if all the flooding will affect anything.

No you can't. You have to make an appointment first. You might get an appointment the same day if you're lucky.

I've done it twice this year for my family.

Once you arrive... they will allow you to set an appointment there, they will give you available times. But I've got same day appointments the few times I went. I even had a friend of mine that got same day appointments. So, yes you can.

Anybody order at At&T? Can you get the gear s2 deal and also get the SD card from Samsung?

When I broke my 6 Plus screen I tried to make an appointment online and could not due to a problem in their system. Had to go to the store and make one and wait for hours when they agreed to see me the same day, only to be told they would have to send my iPhone out to the depot for repairs because some machine was down. It was a couple of weeks wait I think. Week and half, maybe. At least they gave me a 16 Gb loaner.

I'm not sure where I am supposed to take a Samsung phone for service.

Whether you can get seen the same day or not depends on the store and traffic. When the iphone first came out, it was easy for me to get an appointment at the closest store (about 30min away), most of the time I could get in as a walk up. Now, they are booked days in advance and good luck as a walk up, you could be waiting for hours. There is another store further out, but that one is like an hour and a half away, but they get less traffic and I've had luck going there.

Samsung used to provide that service at their flagship store at Westfield. You had to pay but it would be fixed within a few hours. I can't see the new flagship store in Oxford Street doing the same. It's too small.
[doublepost=1471487755][/doublepost]Ugh I've resigned myself to getting this phone. I just need to decide on the colour. Black and blue are not colours that I'd normally go for. I'll have to see them in person before I decide. I think it will most likely be the black though. I will go and see them at the weekend. O2 are offering delivery on 30th of August if I order by August 26th and a free gear VR on orders by 1st September. So I can place my order this weekend once I've seen the colours. I really didn't want to do this. Oh well lol

Not to make your decision more difficult, but give the blue a chance. It really grew on me. I think it's gorgeous.
