Do yourself a favour, save money and just get Galaxy S3 instead. Not much difference.

Has anybody regretted their purchase of the Galaxy S4 yet?

----------

Wow no offence, but that looks hideous!

Not much difference? It's only better in every single area possible and for the price of the S3 you might as well pay the extra amount

This was more than just a spec bump...

I disagree.

I wouldn't pass on a better chipset, a better camera and a larger higher-res screen.

Today i was playing with the s4 and wow just wow, fantastic screen, camera is hands down the best ive seen :) granted i had it for less than 60 minutes but during that time i noticed zero lag and everything was very smooth and by the gods ! Battery was at 37% with 7hrs 2 minutes screen time and 1 day 12hrs since charged  never seen something like that before and im now considering buying a s4.

It was the octo-core version and my friend have say he have never noticed any overheating or lag, btw all the "gimmick" features were ON.

Its good to hear experiences like yours. I wonder why some S4's lag and others don't? I've only played with one but previously owned an S3 and noticed the lag on a friends S4.

I'm enjoying mine a lot.

Just like any Smartphone or Computer, how it's setup plays a major role in how it performs. Demo units in stores are a very poor example, as they are subject to having the various settings, preferences & such, changed & messed with by anyone who walks in the store.

Unlike the Apple store, where well trained employees are constantly walking around checking & correcting this type of thing on the products, your typical carrier has fewer employees on the floor & no time to check all the various makes & models of phones on display.

Next if we talk about reviews, one must remember they're written by individuals that may be biased towards one brand or platform over another. Plus they've got to have something noteable to report on & often exaggerate.

My Galaxy S4 displays zero lag even under the most demanding conditions. It's just as fast if not a bit faster that my "pure Android" Nexus 4. It's all a matter of personal preference, nothing beats owning one and using it over a period of time. It's the only way to decide for yourself, as opposed to relying on others.

I buy the phone I'm interested in, try it out, then if I don't like it I simply return it. That way I'm not cheating myself out of what might be a great experience simply because I made a decision based on other people's comments. Some of which come from people who don't even own the phone they're being critical of.

Does the S4 get hot when using data or wifi? I ask because my Optimus G gets really hot when I'm using I heart Radio app on it. My update is due in June I'm thinking about the S4 or maybe go back to the iPhone.

Oh please. You must be one of those people who called the iPhone5 revolutionary yet refuse to acknowledge how superior the s4 is to the s3

As an option, yes. However, it really depends on your usage patterns and how your battery life is holding up through the day. Mine lasts fine during the day with screen-on time of anywhere between 4.5 hours to 6 hours for the life of a full charge.

After seeing that my battery would last over a day with moderate usage with power saving mode off, I simply recharge my phone every night which I have done with all my prior iphones.

You get up to 6 hours screen time? thats impressive...I have gotten 4-5 hours on average but saying that I have gone gym everyday and used music for 2 hours which doesn't count as screen time i'm guessing?

I realised a while after I posted - I am subscribed to this thread - that I was not paying attention to the fact that this is for the S4 (I have the HTC One). Nevertheless, the S4 should have similar battery life if not a bit better. I am going to delete my post now :)

I don't know about that. But I do know he is one of those people who came here and ended up banned in record time. Hmmmmm....

I can't wait to get the S4 when Verizon releases them. I'm eligible for an upgrade starting tomorrow, I'm kind of impatient now haha. My brother has the S4 and he loves it, sister-in-law has the Note 2 and she likes that as well. I've had an iPhone 4 for almost 2 years and feel it's time to switch. I had a Droid before the iPhone so I've experience Android. I'm just ready for something new and I am intrigued by the features of the S4. Now I just have to be patient for a few more days.

I hope everyone that has an S4 is enjoying it so far.

I have had this phone now for over a week and am absolutely delighted.

A couple of days ago I started using Touch wiz again and reset all the preferences on my apps thus having them all installed and not disabled. I didn't find a lot of lag, and TBH, the place where I found it most was when opening the gallery, gotta admit, its there, not a deal breaker and not worth the hair pulling and wringing of hands that some seem to suffer, it is a slight lag but nothing that would cause me worry. Other than that, it seems quite smooth to me. IMHO, the lag is overplayed.

I find that I like Nova prime, it just seems to be made for this phone and have reinstalled it. Battery on mine lasts me really well, ATM I have 41% remaining after taking it of charge 23h 28m 41s ago with an on screen time of 2h 49m, my screen is on full and all the bells and whistles are active, blue tooth etc.

I think it feels quite nice in the hand and has a premium feel, it doesn't bend or creak and find that I prefer it to the S3 (I hve owned one), IMHO, the build quality has been taken up a notch.

I do think that the screen is not the best in the business when viewed outside in sunlight, but for me it is liveable, inside (Where most of my use is) though, the screen is gorgeous, I like it, but others that dislike saturated colours may not like it as much.

I enjoy this phone better than any of the phones I have had previously owned. In fact, I love this phone.:)

I agree on every single word.

I too love this phone.

I'm actually enjoying my S4 more than I thought. The only adjustment issue I am having is to the screen. Its not nearly as bright as my HTC One or iPhone 5.

Thanks! I'm contemplating whether to pre-order tomorrow (when I'm eligible to upgrade) and wait for it to ship or try to find it in a store (verizon, best buy, target, etc) on the 23rd. Oh decisions.....but it looks like an awesome phone

The "google edition" gs4.

Yeah, but what is that? Sorry, been out of town with no computer, ....just my phone and havent been able to follow these things as well.

EDIT*

Nevermind, i Googled it. Yeah no thanks, ....$649 in the playstore? I dont think so. That would make it the most expensive GS4 going.

It's $700 for the touchwiz gs4 here if you don't have an hup available. I would hardly call it the most expensive gs4.

Not to mention how many people buy $800 iPhones unlocked, this is not so bad.

However I think I'll pass too and rather buy a One. I am done with AMOLEDs and if the next nexus has a nice enough camera would rather get that even if its $400+.

With most of the top of the line Android handsets in the $600 - $700 price range, the S4 is being sold for the going rate. Nothing is free OR perfect, it's a compromise as usual. Want it for less? The major US carriers have them for $199. Everything has its price :)
