I really want to like this phone but the 8-9GB of storage for apps worries me. T-Mo doesn't offer a 32 GB size so I'm really trying to figure out of 8-9 GB is enough... I want to love it becase the camera is awesome which is the top thing I look for in a phone when it comes to features.

At least it's made out of metal.

The display will be identical, I think the lower camera MP is due to supply constraints? I guess it uses the S3's sensor.

Not in every aspect, because it will have a LCD display, resolution will be the same.

You did't get enough life with the 2600 mAh that is in the phone from the start?

Yeah I get a full day everyday but still nice option to have when on the go just incase battery is low...

although everytime I'm at work the battery drains from 90% at 6.am and by 6.PM it's normally at 40% left with moderate use..apart from watching a 30 minute tv show in the morning. which isn't a big issue but still nice to have that extra battery incase I for whatever reason go out after work instead of going straight home for example.

A co-worker literally got one s4 delivered an hour ago. Being on lunch it was the perfect time to set it up and play with :)

I don't know what changed but with nova I don't mind touchwiz so much. We changed screen setting to dynamic, turned off all the motion, air, smart, and voice stuff, and phone was quite snappy and also nice to look at.

I guess a touchwiz custom rom with all bloat removed will do wonders. Sad, but hey for some of us tech minded it is not a stretch.

I would just like the screen to be brighter though. It really is so dim. Even indoors it looked nice over 60% brightness and pretty dim if you go below. Outside it really needs to be cranked to full and even then it will be dim.

Oh well, but the gs4 is again in my purchase choices. Now to see which one gets cheaper in the next month, the one or s4 :)

Yeah brightness isn't great outside.. I have it on 40* and have to put auto brightness on when outside..

One question here

Every morning I watch a TV show in the morning for breakfast when at work...I’ve noticed while I put it on it has started locking...how do you unlock it after a certain amount of time? Is there a setting for that? As normally it stays unlocked and you can just where you are watching it but lately it has been locked while watching.

When going out doors in bright light set phone to auto brightness, when you manually set it to 100% you only get about 375cd brightness and when the phone detects sunlight it will power boost it to around 430-440cd brightness

At the sprint store now picking up a black GS4. Could've sworn it was $149 but they're charging me $250 with a mail in rebate. Anyway I'm stoked and can't wait to get home and play with it.

They are $199 at BestBuy and $129 at AmazomWireless

The wireless charging pad and wireless charging covers (white and black) have appeared on Samsung's accessories page for the GS4, however no pricing of ability to buy just yet.

The issue will be staying on the orb. There are magnets in the n4 and the orb to make it "stick"

One of the great features of the S4 via Android ver 4.2.2 is all the refinements and additional ways you can customize your settings like the lock screen time outs, the method you choose to lock it, etc.

To your question here's the answer.

Go to:
Settings
My Device (tab)
Lock Screen
Select Screen Lock
Then follow the prompts. It will all make sense at that point. It's easy

Cheers :)

No, there's sticky stuff on the Orb that makes it stick. Well, it's kinda "sticky", just a really grippy ring that holds your phone. And with the grippy back to my Neo Hybrid case, my GS4 sticks to my Orb just fine. I just don't have the Orb plugged in, I instead use it as a 'mount' on my nightstand next to my bed.

Another thing I wonder about is if the wireless charging cover is the same thickness as the standard cover. Because if it's thicker, it'll screw up all these cases that are out, including mine.

Can anyone recommend a decent touchwiz ROM that keeps the basic framework but deletes all the motion/air/smart stuff?

I am not sure if i really want to delete every thing touchwiz has.

Also, any big bugs in CM/AOKP/other AOSP ROMs that you notice at the moment?

Thanks.

Looking at the gallery pics for the wireless cover, it is thicker than the standard one. The camera doesn't stick out like it does with the standard cover. So there goes that idea. I don't want to ditch my case.

There are also magnets. I know this b.c I had a few n4s at the same time and one fell off the orb after a few minutes every time. I contacted Google and they confirmed that was why.

The s4 probably stays better naturally b.c it does not have a slick glass back.

Samsung Stock Price Fall on concerns of GS4 sales

(Reuters) - Samsung Electronics Co (005930.KS) lost $12 billion in market value on Friday, hit by brokerage downgrades that have underscored concerns about slowing sales of its flagship Galaxy S4 smartphone.

The share slide of more than 6 percent comes after it recently introduced two stripped-down versions of the S4, fanning worries that profit margins for its mobile business will suffer. It also follows a report that arch-rival Apple (AAPL.O) will begin a trade-in programme for iPhones.

The new stripped-down S4 models will help it widen its lead in the global smartphone market and fend off Chinese competitors, but some fear that the South Korean tech giant is trading in profits for volume.

Analysts say sales momentum for the high-end version of the S4, which became its fastest selling smartphone since it launch in late April, has slowed.

"Sales of high-end handsets are lagging behind expectations, while low- to mid-end handsets are selling briskly worldwide," said Kim Young-chan, an analyst at Shinhan Investment Corp.

"As the portion of low- to mid-range handsets is expected to increase in Samsung's overall mobile phone business, this has also sparked concerns about thinning margins and lower growth."

Samsung is quickly learning what Apple learned last fall: When expectations are sky-high, it doesn’t take much to send them crashing back down to earth. Reuters reports that Samsung “lost $12 billion in market value on Friday, hit by brokerage downgrades that have underscored concerns about slowing sales of its flagship Galaxy S4 smartphone.”

http://bgr.com/2013/06/07/samsung-s...:+TheBoyGeniusReport+(BGR+|+Boy+Genius+Report)

Samsung took a stock hit on Friday, losing $12 billion as prices dropped 6 percent after reports of Galaxy S4 sales slowing down. The S4 looked great out of the gate, with huge sales numbers but analysts now report that sales of high-end Samsung smartphones aren’t meeting expectations. Orders for Samsung Galaxy S4 units from manufacturing partners will reportedly drop 20 to 30 percent in Q3 2013, well short of sales projections.
It seems like only yesterday (ok, last week) that Samsung was posting astronomical sales numbers for its flagship, the Galaxy S4. But now a new J.P. Morgan report is casting doubt on the future, and casting Samsung stock into freefall.

http://www.intomobile.com/2013/06/07/galaxy-s4-sales-slow-samsung-stock-takes-hit/

The Korean stock market got hammered Friday as its bellwether, Samsung Electronics (ticker: 005930.Korea), was downgraded by J.P. Morgan in what may be the first of a number of cuts for the maker of the popular Galaxy smartphone series. Samsung represents 17% of Korea's benchmark Kospi index, which means the whole market may be under pressure. Samsung fell 6.2% while the Kospi dropped 1.8% to 1924, the biggest drop since July of last year. Foreign investors were said to unload $1 billion worth of Korean stocks, their largest sale in 22 months. Most of it was Samsung shares.

Analysts are concerned about two new stripped-down versions of the S4 that were recently introduced, suggesting that the proposition of cheaper phones gaining more market traction will threaten profit margins at Samsung. As analyst Kim Young-chan of Shinhan Investment Corp. said, "As the portion of low- to mid-range handsets is expected to increase in Samsung's overall mobile phone business, this has also sparked concerns about thinning margins and lower growth."

JPMorgan Chase was one of the major firms to downgrade Samsung, cutting its price estimate by 9.5%. Citing disappointing numbers in supply chain checks, JPMorgan lowered its expectation for 2013 Galaxy S4 shipments from 80 million to 60 million. Another problem for Samsung, according to analysts, has been the circulating rumors and expectations of a cheaper iPhone launching this year.

Samsung's 6% drop in stock price equates to a loss of $12 billion in market value.

Of course certain members of this forum would run around calling any other company with news like this 'dead' on the basis of a bit of bad news.....

I however will refrain from such dramatics, but its clear the samsung hasn't met market expectations - but then to be honest given how absolutely stupid the market can be in its 'expectations' (only look at Apple stock pricing ups and downs) I don't think Samsung are going anywhere or in any real trouble... They just need to stop prevaricating that they expect 100 million phones to be sold, and maybe temper the expectations a little.

It also seems that the concern is caused by Samsung releasing too many versions of the S4 and mid range spin offs too - that it's swallowing up it's own market and the lower cost handsets devalue it overall. So maybe having a Galaxy Mega 5.9, Mega 6.3, S4, S4 Active, S4 zoom, S4 mini instead of focussing on the one handset isn't such a wise decision as far as the stock market is concerned.

But you already are by posting this rather LONG negative news about a phone you do not own and publicly compared to the HTC One and chose the One. So do you really need this to make you feel good about you choice?

I never mentioned anything about HTC .... I also said nothing negative personally about the S4 in my thread post, so no need to go all defensive - like someone has 'kicked your puppy'....

I was on a news site and the reuters article was there, and so googled to see what the story was.

We know the status and the struggles HTC are facing as it has been reported many times on different threads here. But HTC's struggle doesn't suddenly negate the news or make it irrelevant.

So i will return the favor every time i read something about HTC or the ONE I will be sure to head over to the HTC One thread and post the full article(s) there for everyone to read....and give the same reasons you state here? Would you consider that to be fair?
It is funny how some people portray themselves to be above the fray then proceed to do what they profess not to be....

1) I then gave my opinion on these news stories saying that rarely does anything make expectations we only have to look at Apple's stock every time something happens, and that I personally don't think Samsung are in any real trouble. But to say 'I'm going to sell 100 million of this' it creates increased unrealistic expectations from the folks on the stock market, so maybe they should reign in a little of the "we will sell 100 million' kind of statements.

2) I then explained that the primary cause of concern seems for the analysts seems to boil down to worry that Samsung is going to sell other versions / spinoffs of its S4 thereby diluting it's own revenue stream.

So please explain how I was being unfair or attacking Samsung ?

Do you know what sour grapes are? So...to be fair....you have no objections of all the posts that were in the HTC thread about all the executives that were leaving HTC? To my knowledge you took offense to those articles. That is what led you to post the very long full articles here on the S4 thread.
So no...i have no objections...post whatever you want anywhere....but don't pretend it was for any other reason that what it is......
But like I said about the glass house.........you might not like the outcome......
Fair is being treated the same as you treat others.....that is only fair.....
