So for those with Android devices already, if I stick a 64GB card in my S4, could it be used as the "main" storage by default?

Looks like April 26th will be an awesome day. S4 delivery, and Iron Man 3 release :p

If you mean for apps, then no. If you mean for camera photos/vids then yes.

If rooted there are ways to make the memory card the default for apps. Even though my Note 2 is rooted I will not use those kinds of tweaks. I have found that on average android apps take up less space than iOS apps (presumably because they are not carrying resources hard-coded for several screen resolutions).

Some camera modes require data to be written on to the internal memory but you can always transfer them afterwards.
I don't know how important the read/write speed of the cards are, maybe someone else can answer that?

I store music, video and photos on the sd card as these take up the most space. Apps stay in the main memory.

On the Galaxy you can set the default storage for both video and photos to the sd card but (as someone else has pointed out) some camera modes have to use the main storage.

Not really. You still have to finance it. The $99/$149 is basically a downpayment.

Do you finance through tmo? Or is it like other US carrier that the rate is the same regardless if you bring an unlocked device or get a subsidized phone?

Yes you finance through TM but at zero interest. You pay a small(ish) deposit and then pay off the phone for 2 years. Obviously your bill will go down after the 2 years. You can leave anytime. TM will supposedly buy the handset back at "fair market value." If there is still money owed--say, because you left after only a few months--you would owe the difference in what is left to be paid off and fair market value.

If you don't go for the financing thing, or bring your own phone, then the bill of could would be lower.

This is far different than how it is handled by the other big carriers.

However, in my case I would have to factor in the fact that AT&T has let me upgrade on a yearly schedule, or close to it. I still would probably save $$$ with TM but I don't live in one of their high-speed areas.

Still cheaper in the long run because the plans are cheaper. You pay more upfront with a two year contract and your bill is still higher. I only owe $180 on my GS3 so if i want a GS4, $280 gets me the GS4 and i can sell my GS3, sell it to them(and most likely pay very little to upgrade), or just pass it down to a family member and not have to pay to upgrade their phone. My Wife would be happy with my GS3 over her HTC Windows 7 phone and the 3.7" screen

My bill is $149 a month with 5 lines, ...three of them using data.

TMobile "finances" it for a couple months, until you pay it off.

You get what you pay for, I guess. TMobile is trash. Basically EDGE every day. What's the point of unlimited data if you're stuck on EDGE...

So for those who are purchasing the S4 unlocked, are you guys really going to try to import the Octo-core one? Does it run on every band in the US as I've heard rumored? So ATT's 3G/LTE and Tmobile's 3G/HSPA+/LTE?

All true?

And if so, from where will y'all be importing it from? What are the prices looking like for importing?

I may get it through Tmobile at full price unlocked, but I also don't want any Tmobile logos on the device. If it's just the backplate, I suppose I can switch that out, but would ideally prefer to avoid that.

I really hope unlocked prices are in the ~$579 range as predicted...

According to Samsung, the Octa is compatible with all LTE bands.

Gonna be in Seoul in June for a business trip so I'm probaby gonna pick one up then.

But I read that doesn't necessarily mean it'll have lte. The chipset doesn't determine whether it'll have lte or not. Am i wrong?

Another question about touch wiz. If I load a different launcher on my s4 do I lose tw features like smart stay etc?

And if so why is this? Isn't a launcher just a skin over the os?

I wonder if and how Samsung will market this phone in countries like Japan, because isn't the number 4 bad luck to them? Kinda like 13 is to some people in the US?

Touchwiz is the launcher and the apps. Samsung modified stuff like messaging, contacts, dialer etc. If you change the launcher (I use Apex but Nova is another equally good one) you get a much more flexible launcher/home screen but don't lose any of the other Samsung features.

They'll probably take their cue from Sony and the PS4.

Also if anyones interested, I saw that Samsung will offer the phone on the 25th April instead of the 26th. Walked past their Westfield (UK) store today and saw the signs.

Do widgets take up much space?

Storage space wise, no. They are generally part of app. So for example a weather app you download. It comes with widgets. Other widgets that aren't apps are generally small in size, couple MB or so.

Screen space wise, they can be. Most you can adjust their size to your liking. Or not use them at all.

Samsung themselves have been on the record saying that only the korean models will be getting the exynos chips with LTE enabled (for now?).
