Yes I am. Originally hoped to have it today but it's been delayed a week. :(

I ordered on unlocked mobiles yesterday and they said they will have stock mid next week but don't know if thats when I will get mine or not. would think those who ordered before me will get theirs first but guess depends on stock.

Were you buying unsubsidised or through your carrier ?

Mine has shipped :p

Strangely had no issue getting either the HTC One or the S4 on launch day from my carrier, whereas iPhones are always much trickier to procure.

Read recently that there are 1.4 million iPhones in Ireland and 1.2 million iPads. That's about 1 iPhone and iPad for every 4 people. Surely that must be the highest capita of iOS ownership anywhere.

That seems to be the situation across the U.K., stock delayed until the 2nd of May or thereabouts.

...unless anyone knows differently???

I'm buying sim-free.

Hope you get yours tomorrow but I saw what you said about your rural location and delivery.

Yeah I'll be amazed if the courier delivers it before Monday :)

Samsung Galaxy S4: First impressions
Many Britons keen to get their hands on Samsung's S4 phone look likely to be disappointed.

Samsung has said that "unprecedented" demand for the handset has meant stocks were running low in the UK.

UK operators have been sending messages to many people who pre-ordered the S4, warning that the handset would reach them after the official launch date.

Some messages say people may have to wait up to a week to get hold of the new phone.

Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S4 in mid-March and planned the worldwide launch for 27 April. Interest in the phone is high because of some of the novel technologies, such as the ability to control it with a glance, that are built in.

However, many people who pre-ordered the phone so it would arrive on launch day may now get their handset later.

"There's been unprecedented demand for the Galaxy S4 in the UK," Samsung told BBC Radio 4's You and Yours. Many people contacted the programme to report that they had received messages from operators and others retailers warning about the shortage of S4s in the UK. Some were given a delivery date of 3 May, almost a week later than originally planned.

'Stock constraints'

In its statement, the electronics company said it was "working hard to ensure that pre-orders and sales across all channels are fulfilled as soon as possible".

UK operator 3 told the BBC that Samsung was "experiencing stock constraints" and said it regretted the frustration this would cause customers. The UK's other major operators also said they were having stock problems but were looking to prioritise customers who pre-ordered over those that walk into shops to buy the gadget.

Similar delays were being reported in the US with operator Sprint delaying the opening of its online S4 store by a week to cope with demand.

A great head start for Samsung, who predicted they would sell 100m GS4's. And with demand even higher, the GS4 is likely to go down as the top selling smartphone of all time! A generous estimate would be 120m GS4's, that is more than 40 times the number of iPhone 5 sold.

I'm not sure really, I guess I had second thoughts about shelling out that much cash and the delays gave me that extra reason - I was pretty annoyed as well that I'd booked Monday off work to wait in for it!
I'm quite sure I will get one eventually, hopefully if the price comes down a bit[/QUOTE

Clearly harder to get hold of just cross the irish sea than here on the emerald isle as I was able to buy one day one here with no pre-ordering at all, and they are still available at a couple of the carriers (but sold out on the others two) ...

However we only do 'pre-registration' for new mobiles and not 'pre-orders' here, meaning that as soon as they are available its a first come, first serve basis here.

Meteor Out of Stock

Vodafone are the biggest carrier in Ireland so I assume they got the most stock, so maybe not too surprising they have them online.

Whether any of the retail outlets for any of the carriers get much stock - that is officially meant to be tomorrow.

I have no doubt the GS4 will be the default 'goto' device for many people who don't get iPhones here.

The HTC One has been reportedly difficult to get hold of (judging by constant stock question on the carriers forums) in retail outlets and yet seemingly can be ordered through any of the carriers own websites here.

You shouldn't lose any of those options. All you're doing is replacing the launcher - the other "bits" that Samsung put in are still there. I've done this on my S3 and still have the smart stay and almost all the other features. The only one that doesn't work is the "pan to move icon" from one homescreen page to another.

Other than that everything else works just fine.

Yeah this should be true, on my Note 2 all the quick S-note and pen functions are intact with Nova Prime. (Would have been a dealbreaker for me otherwise, I myself using that stuff surprisingly often.)

Everything works expect for the hover over previews. For example, hovering over the gmail icon does not display a preview of your emails with nova launcher. That is the only thing that does not work =/

Hovering within the s-pen app does work

They are VERY expensive. Significantly more than a 16 GB iPhone 5. Bound to come down in time I would have thought.

I know you're not in the US, so I don't know how this translates over to your area, but the iPhone 5 is STILL more expensive than the S4 (I'm talking about off-contract prices...on-contract they're the same).

Straight from AT&T's website:

iPhone 5 16gb: $649.99
Galaxy S4 16gb: $639.99

Excellent! Don't forget to let us know what you think of it. :)

Have not had much time to do much, but after playing around with Air View and the Smart Screen settings I am finding they work very well, like them so far. Once I get some more time I will post more.

Even IF the GS4 could get to 120M sold, it wouldn't be the best selling of all time - the iPhone 4S has sold more than 120M since it came out.

Also, last time I checked (based on best estimates - which is what ALL of these numbers are from Apple and Samsung), there have been about 55M iPhone 5's sold since its launch 6 months ago.

120M/40 doesn't equal 55M - and that estimate would likely be spread over a year+ while the iPhone 5 has been out half that....

The GS4 will be a big seller no doubt, but lets not get ahead of ourselves.

I'm talking off-contract too. In the UK the prices are:

iPhone 16GB - £499
SGS4 16GB - £630

Having said that I've managed to order an S4 for £579.95.

Somebody needs to review their basic math--if 120M is 40 time more, that would mean Apple has only sold 3M iP5s. I believe that was the number for maybe the first weekend? ;)

Don't bother with this guy jr, biggest Samsung fanboy I think I've ever seen on these boards and clearly doesn't really have a grasp of what he's talking about.

Agree though that Samsung is going to sell a TON of the S4, though I never understood though why we even compare these numbers as is has nothing to do with the quality of the devices in question.

So for those who got their phones today, how are you finding the battery life?

Mine seems to drain quite fast. Just took it off charge about an hour ago, and its already down to 88% and falling fast.

That's concerning

Who's the fanboy now?

Both are great devices and we're each entitled to our own opinions, but you can't bash a guy for his in one breath and then state an opinion like this next.
