Who's the fanboy now?

Both are great devices and we're each entitled to our own opinions, but you can't bash a guy for his in one breath and then state an opinion like this next.

What are you talking about? I bash a guy for being incompetent in math and manipulating numbers to support his opinion. My statement is solely based on his posting history in these forums and his unabashed blind support for Samsung and tendency to belittle anything non-Samsung. Thus, fanboy.

Stating I don't see how sales numbers has anything to do with device quality make me a fanboy of what, objective analysis? So popularity=quality? Where exactly did I profess my undying support of a specific brand? What exactly am I being a fanboy of, accurate math?

25% still and at work I vary from noservice to 1-2 bars

I had mine for two days now and other than a large screen, I still prefer the iPhone. I've tried every galaxy out so far and after trying the SG4 I realized that Andriod is just not for me.

My iOS is just way to simple and a pleasure to use. My G4 went back to AT&T today.

The G4 is a great phone but just not for me.

At least you gave it a chance.

Pick what's the best for you.

I've had Android for the longest time (Sprint EVO 4G Photon 4G, then Verizon RAZR MAXX, RAZR MAXX HD). I've never owned an iPhone because I wasn't wiling to go to AT&T; then when it hit Verizon, I wasn't willing to lose LTE. Now the iPhone 5 wont do Simultaneous Voice/Data.

I wanted to make sure I wasn't suffering from a bit of 'grass is greener' syndrome. I sold my MAXX HD and am borrowing a iPhone 4 (not 4S) on Verizon.

I know its slow and doesn't have 4G, but its on 6.1.3. I wanted to see if the interface is going to work with me. I instantly jailbroke it, sped up animations, set defaults away from Safari and Apple maps, added IntelliScreenX (calendar agenda on lockscreen) and I'm moderately happy.

This little 'experiment' was intended to hold me over until the S4 is released. I've been watching videos on YouTube and it seems business as usual. The phone lags...well, the animations jitter...when pulling down the notification tray, when pulling up the keyboard, loading apps...sometimes pressing the home button it just sits there for a second.

I can't for the life of me figure out why these lag issues affect the S4. They were in the S3 & Note 2 also.

I've been through so many phones and am just plain frustrated:

EVO 4G: Slow
Photon 4G: Nasty PenTile screen
Galaxy S2: Reception issues, low resolution
Nexus S: Reception issues
RAZR MAXX: Nasty AMOLED PenTile screen
RAZR MAXX HD: Frequent Lag issues, AMOLED PenTile still
Galaxy Nexus: Terrible reception, call quality issues, PenTile
S3: Terrible reception, call quality issues, Pentile
Droid DNA: Poor reception
Note 2: Enormous, call quality issues

To be honest, the only phones I've ever used with excellent reception were my Photon 4G and my Blackberry Pearl! My RAZR MAXX HD is close, but its not as good as my old Photon.

I'd be so happy with a RAZR MAXX HD that had the Droid DNA screen, a Wolfson DAC, 2GB of RAM, front facing speakers and a Snapdragon 600 chip...

I just get really frustrated at some of the 'polish' issues of Android and the 'function' issues of Apple.

Arg!

That's fair enough. I feel kind of the same, but since it's my first Android experience I'm not making a decision just yet.

I've had fun playing around with the phone, but I'm in two minds whether I want to actually have it as my main device for the next year.

^I've never liked Samsung's TouchWiz. HTC's Sense is vastly superior. Either way, with Android, the default look can be almost entirely changed.

After holding this phone and the HTC One, and playing with them, I'm getting the GS4. Touchwiz seems more polished in function. Little things like pausing music or video automatically when activating voice to text is smart. I notice the HTC will run apps at the same time when it makes no sense to do so. I also love multi Window. Streaming youtube while answering a text or surfing the net is a very nice option to have.

I know I asked this question about the GS3, so now that people are getting their hands on the GS4, I would like to ask it again.

Does the GS4 allow you to use the volume rocker as a shutter button for the stock camera app? Thanks.

Yes it does.

Having had my order delayed by Amazon.co.uk from the 26th to the 27th of April, and then to the 3rd of May (all in the space of a few days) they now tell me that they can't specify a delivery date at all!

I'm not impressed! :(

Samsung, this launch / supply debacle is reminiscent of the HTC One launch just a few weeks ago. Not good enough! :(

Love that you can switch out the keyboard, SwiftKey is so much better than the stock Samsung one.

Surprised at how much the phone lags though, it's all the more noticable when I go back to use my 4S for something

Is it lag or is it touchwiz's invasive animations slowing things up I wonder ?

Try installing a different launcher and see if it lags.

I always love DetroitBorg's reviews! :)

YouTube: video

Slight concern adding to the lag concern.

At 15:20 in the review he goes into the memory management section and he is nearly full up memory wise !!!!

On the HTC One I hovered around 600mb used with 9 apps open / backgrounded. HTC Sense shows 1.5gb available (I assume the missing 500 is isolated for operating system and such) so I used less than half of the available ram to me, hence I assume one of the reasons there was NEVER a trace of lag or stutter,

Whereas here in the video he is using 1.5-6gb of the 1.7 available ? What on earth is using so much ram on the Galaxy S4 ?? And if it's all samsung's extra bells and whistles hogging the memory that surely is a bad thing ??

Can anyone with an S4 please check and see how much memory you are using generally. Thanks.
