google music manager,it lets any gmail or android user upload and sync from iTunes to the google cloud for free and then you can play the music on any adroid device you are logged into or you can even download the songs to stay on the device as well.

Google also upgades the sound quality if it has a match that is better recorded on there servers

here is a direct link about it

its not just on your s4!!!

You can get all your music just by signing into google.com on any browser!

Just be careful if you don't have unlimted data on your gs4,this will eat up bandwith as the gs4 will stream the music off the cloud or even use just as much if you decide to save it to the phone.

Holding off purchasing the S4 for the moment, the prices on contract in my country's carriers are simply atrocious; I've never seen such exorbitant prices on contract before.

It's like $578 on contract in my country's currency :( Gonna wait for some time to consider other options.

On Singtel's Flexi Value Plan* which is SG$60/month, you can pick up the S4 for SG$328 on recontract. If you have a corporate discount, then the plan price drops to about SG$43 or so IIRC (approx what I am paying for the plan).
http://www.hardwarezone.com.sg/prod...y-s4-and-sony-xperia-z-price-plans-comparison

*I am still on the old 12GB/month data plan :D and not the newer 3GB/month rubbish despite my contract ending last November. Whenever I decide to upgrade to a Note 3 or S4 I might just buy the device off contract and keep my current plan. The S4 is ~SG$ 950 currently:eek: but prices should drop slowly, both on- and off-contract

For those worrying about music, Kies also has the ability to load your iTunes library straight to your phone, on your SD or phone storage. So, you can either use Google Music Manager to have all your iTunes music on a cloud, or you can use Kies to have it on your phone. The options are great for those switching from iOS to Android.

Yeah, but $60 a month is quite alot! :( Was aiming for the $39.90 plan, but I guess I'll see first.

you can upload 25k songs for free to google music cloud that will work on all android devices for free, you download a small program and it connects to iTunes and uploads all your music onto google.

I am tempted to get that octo version on ebay now for 1200

It takes forever to upload them, it seemingly makes no attempt to 'match' them in the cloud. I gave up after 1500 tracks took 5 days to get up there with the computer on day and night. and I have a collection of over 25,000 so there was just no way I'm going to wait for them to upload. Its a nice feature to have but impractical if you don't have really fast broadband. At least with iTunes Match it will match the song to one already there and only upload songs which aren't matched.

----------

No you dont, just go in App management and disable the Samsung apps you dont want running. Ive got 11 things disabled including the Zinga games icon that came on this thing to get their games. Doubt that is slowing anything down but i just dont want it on my screen.

Others are
Talkback, T-Mobile TV, S Voice, S Suggest, Music Hub, Chat On, Mobilelife Contacts, Allshare, Bonus Apps, and Tmobile name ID. I could probably disable a few more but those are the ones i absolutely didnt care about.

I tried disabling s-voice and chat on on mine and the disable option was not there ? also there was no Zinga games on mine, was yours a carrier version?

Heard the performance between the dual core 1.9Ghz and Octa core versions do not differ much, why would you want to get an octo version for so much cash?

I'll be the first to admit I'm completely addicted to Smartphones on a variety of platforms, and have been for years. Long before carriers in the USA began offering a good selection, I forged a strong relationship with an off shore distributor that could supply me with any GSM phone, from any market I wanted. Thus I have been able to purchase both an Octa & 1.9 GHz models.

I already knew that if the data I had access to was correct, the difference would be minimal under most usage scenarios. However I'm very committed to the fun of first hand experiences, in addition I'm very familiar with those who must have the most powerful processor even if the difference is minimal.

Now after two days with both, I can confirm there's so little difference that I'm even happier I bought them both. Why? I've got a friend and fellow enthusiast that's got plenty of money & desire to buy the Octa from me tomorrow.

It's a win/win, the ideal arrangement for everyone :)

Yeah, the upload speeds are atrocious. I only had a little more than 200 songs to upload and it took hours. It's that initial upload that's painful, individual songs that you buy afterwards are not too bad. But I prefer storing the music on my phone rather than streaming it anyway.

I am on TMobile so I will have a few bloat icons that you wont have. I am also still using my GS3 and don't have S4 yet.
I would think though that the disable option would still be there for apps that are from Samsung and the carrier. Should be at the top right when you click on the app in the app manager next to the forceclose button.
I am on JB 4.1.1 which shouldn't be much different than 4.2.2

I genuinely thought JB 4.2.1 for the S3 was released? It wasn't?

It's not just Couch - I'm in Australia and I see a LOT of ads here for the Galaxy line - both the S4 and the Note 2 have been getting decent screen time.

All the iPhone ads I see are the 30 second clips that show the camera can take panoramas.

I'm not disagreeing that we're seeing a much greater level of marketing for Samsung devices--I've also noticed them more as well being used in TV shows/movies.

My issue is with his overly dramatic statements like these and the implication that everyone is all of a sudden kicking Apple to the curb:

If people still think the tides aren't changing/changed they're really fooling themselves

We all know (or should) that the only thing driving the presence of these devices is the marketing budget of their respective company. If Pantech decided to spend $200 million to market their phones, we'd see them all over TV as well. Has nothing to do with 'changing tides.'

How does that imply people are kicking Apple to the curb? That's your own misconstruction of what I wrote.

I still say, if anyone is denying there's not at least some sort of shift in the smartphone world, they are fooling themselves. Disclaimer: this doesn't mean Apple is doomed or kicked to the curb or anything of the sort. That's your own addition to what I wrote.

No doubt the investment in marketing is helping make this shift.

Enough of what exactly?

Just pointing out what I'm seeing. And what I'm seeing are a lot of non-iPhones being used in bank commercials or anything else that involves tech and smartphones. And more specifically, seeing Galaxy phones. Just pointing out that was never the case. I only ever used to see iPhones being the smartphone in commercials.

I don't even own a Samsung product (much less device) nor do I intend to pick up the S4. Take it easy...?

No you're not, or why include the the statement in bold? If you were simply pointing out what you're seeing, you would've stopped at the first paragraph.

I'm seeing the S4 as the "smartphone representative" in A LOT of advertisements now on television. It used to be all iPhones.

If people still think the tides aren't changing/changed they're really fooling themselves.

And you wonder why other posters here often take issue with your opinions/statements? Dial back on the over exaggeration and melodrama and you might find a more receptive audience.

No Couch, this is the ONLY reason you see a shift in television presence. Networks air commercials because a company pays for them, nothing more. Samsung chooses to have a greater marketing presence so you see them more on television, nothing more. Considering Samsung just released a new flagship device, why would anyone find this surprising? I've also seen a much greater presence on TV of HTC, because of their acknowledged increase in marketing expenditure. And come fall (or whenever the next iPhone is released) we'll most certainly see a whole lot more Apple on TV.

There is only one person reading too much into this in this conversation and it's not me.

I think we're talking about different things, mon ami.

I'm talking about bank commercials and cable television commercials and generally non-smartphone commercials. Commercials that use smartphones to demonstrate something else. And in those commercials, it would almost always be an iPhone being used as the smartphone. What I'm pointing out is that I'm noticing these types of commercials are using Galaxy phones now to be the smartphone in the commercial. Noticing this more and more.

I'm not talking about the actual Samsung ads themselves.

Couch, you do realize that they're in those commercials as well because Samsung is paying them--it's called product placement and isn't usually done out of the goodness of they're heart. ;) Every time you see a specific product in a TV show or movie, it's because they've been paid to include it, basically in show advertising.

I checked the S4 in person today.

While the screen is sharper than S3 no doubt, compared to a neighboring HTC, i cannot say it is "excellent". More like "very good". Turning up both screens to 20%/40%/50%/60%/75%/80%/100% brightness in my tests, i found the S4 screen to be dull compared to HTC. The big difference immediately showed once i loaded macrumors on both. The S4's AMOLED faltered yet again, dim, dull, and inaccurate compared to the awesome LCD in the One.

I switched the display to movie mode, and still the One killed it every single time.

If anything, the S4 screen looked to me more like a little sharper Note 2 screen. I was very turned off. Not to mention touchwizz still looked the same cartoonish style and the launcher had lag even after messing with the settings.

First time i have no "itch" to buy a samsung compared to rival OEMs. Time to see what IO 2013 brings and make my decision between nexus or the One :)

Ah, did not know they paid them to do that. I stand corrected. Samsung's marketing is definitely kicking it into high gear.

You ever notice in most tv shows and movies, there's no identifying logo on a computer if it isn't apple?

If a maker won't pay for placement, no logo shown
