You ever notice in most tv shows and movies, there's no identifying logo on a computer if it isn't apple?

If a maker won't pay for placement, no logo shown

Heck even most macs in TV shows have a sticker put over the apple symbol. Just watch Big Bang Theory.

Best product placement, first series of 24.

All the bad guys had dell computers. All the goodies had macs. The one traitor in the ranks also had a dell. How they didn't spot them sooner lol.

Anyone worried about screen burn in with the s4? I know the s3 had the problem and sammy gave the cold shoulder.

I dont have that problem on my GS3. In fact, ive never had a screen burn in on any of my TV's or phones.

Nickelodian uses a Pear instead of an Apple on theirs, lol.

yes...they do. My 5 year old loves Nick....
Hopefully you know that because you have kids.....:)

Loving my GS4 now that I have CM10.1 on it. Incredibly smooth. Touchwiz was a laggy disaster.

Excellent! What a difference!

Thanks for that link. :)

Actually that doesn't stop the micro stutters completely. And the video entitled "make your GS4 10x faster" is not actually accurate and clearly labeled to just get more hits on YouTube. You will still get the micro stutters / jitters in areas where animation scales ones not affect it like widget drawer.

I already said this was exactly what I had to do on my GS4 though in my hands on. But turning off animation scale does help indeed. By the way turning off animations here it also turns off animations in 'any' other launcher too when launching apps etc. just be aware of that.

Add that to turning off air-gestures & air-view, and then disabling s-voice from being tied to a double tap of the home button and you will improve the flow of the device considerably.

However the point still remains that Touchwiz itself is to cause for the performance issues people are having, if anything the video just confirms it. Samsung added lots of features but never refined its OS in a way that improves user experience.

Is this option available on other phones or just the S4?

----------

Well nevermind, it works on my Nexus 7. :)

The developer options, animation should be on most Android phones.

The only reason he had to click on build number is because by default on JB 4.2 it hides developer options.

-Do you guys have a piece of film on the camera lens? It has no tabs and is stuck around the chrome finish with a hole for the camera.

I thought it was just a piece of protective film that you peel off once you unbox but it in place pretty tightly :/

Ah so it is :p Dug my nail in there and got it off

Glad to help, I didnt notice it at first as well. :)

What's your RAM usage like now?

I am still stock, running Nova Prime, it is really smooth for me now, also RAM seems fine.

I'm getting jealous of S4 and HTC One owners.

Such power in one's hand...

So true. Both are very powerful, with many options & ways to optimize either of these.

I'm particularly happy to see HTC get recognized for the good work they've done.

For those who enjoy customizing a smartphone to their liking, Samsung & HTC both offer exemplary top of the line models.

Reading through this thread is making me seriously give the S4 a try once T-MO comes out with a 32GB model. The 16 GB model is a joke seeing as you only have 8 GB of memory for apps.

I'm keeping mine on there. It's already scratched up pretty good, but as long as it doesn't interfere with the camera it's good. I'd rather that film get the scratches than the area right in front of the camera lens.

Couch, you do realize that they're in those commercials as well because Samsung is paying them--it's called product placement and isn't usually done out of the goodness of they're heart. ;) Every time you see a specific product in a TV show or movie, it's because they've been paid to include it, basically in show advertising.
An S4 being used in the Big Bang Theory is one thing. But I think it is a big leap to go from product placement and/or production integration in an entertainment piece versus an actual ad itself. If a bank is showing off a mobile feature in an ad their goal is to get people to use their bank. Period. They are not about to use an unknown product to showcase their mobile feature, potentially jeopardizing the effect of their own ad.

Samsung is of course marketing a lot lately. But it wouldn't surprise me if it was the bank that reached out to Samsung in order to use its product in their ad (if only for approval).

I've seen commercials on TV that have used a Galaxy like smartphone to showcase a mobile app without a brand name or symbol on the phone. I'm pretty sure it was a TDbank commercial.

I have seen that too. But in those cases for sure Samsung did not "pay to have it in there." The paid product placement thing--to me--just seemed to be accepted too easily. There are more Android phones in ads now.... that is what I see and probably what Couch meant more than anything. It wasn't too long ago where it was just "Use the app on your iPhone!" Now it is almost always "Use the app on your iPhone or Android smartphone!"
