I like the slightly rounded edges on the back of the Note better for feel. Nothing compares to the edge for appearance though. I want to hear battery comparisons between the edge+ and the next iPhone 6+ before I decide. I want a big screen with good battery life for my next phone.

I take back what I said, holding the edge is a bit uncomfortable. It's got very sharp edges and doesn't feel very ergonomic. I'm already having issues with it, lol. It's not picking up my Microcell. I'm not convinced yet if I like it over my iPhone, sometimes less is more functionally.

Hmm reception kind of sucks so far. Getting 2 bars less than I'm used to and no reception inside my house. Could it be a provisioning issue since it's a new phone? I'm driving to get dinner with my wife and in areas I normally have 5 solid bars I have 2-3 and sometimes only 1.

Eek not good if no reception in your home. Never had issues with reception on my standard edge myself and I live in a very spotty area.

On android central I haven't seen any complaints about the edge+ or the note 5 having reception issues. Maybe yours is defective?

Phew, looks like it was an issue on ATTs end. A bit of troubleshooting and I'm on my microcell and otherwise reception is good. Now the big test is if it hands off wifi to cellular as horribly as my Note 4 did. I'm jealous that iOS9 is getting an ability to automatically disconnect from weak wifi networks, such a no brainer.

I never thought I'd hear myself say this, but we may be approaching the time when being any thinner negatively affects ergonomics. Although my iPhone 6 plus is about the same thinness it feels a LOT easier to hold and manipulate, even with the extra width. It's just real thin here your hands contact it when one handed, maybe half the width of the actual device. It should be better when I install my Skinomi full body skin as that adds a lot of grip.

Just got back from anniversary dinner and massages so I can finally play around with it tonight. I'm curious who else got one and what their thoughts are.

What is this additional $45 gift card? Is this given by carrier or for a specific phone?
It's from Best Buy. I assume it's any carrier, but I didn't look at the flyer before he applied the barcode on it and threw it away. Also if anyone didn't know you can pay your tax right from the gift card.

Ongoing review:
FAST, no lag whatsoever. In all fairness my Note 4 was mostly lag free the first few weeks after I got it, so I will give this some time. But even out of the box my Note 4 still had lag opening the camera app, switching between camera and pictures app and especially opening multi tasking. These are all truly instant now, it's pretty insane, not even an animation just an instant transition.

Fingerprint sensor is amazing. No more swipe, just a touch like the iPhone. The iPhone has long had the superior fp sensor, but the one of the edge plus is even faster and very reliable, color me impressed.

Ergonomics are still annoying me. With the small curved side bezel and sharp edges it's really kind of a tough phone to use, 2 handed or 1 handed. The screen display gets slightly distorted where it curves, and I didn't think it would annoy me, but it does a bit. Some screen functions don't work on first tap when they are on the curve, like back arrows. Sometimes I have to tap them twice because instead of tapping them flat, you kind of have to angle your finger slightly. No biggie, just annoying. It's also very easy to hit stuff while holding it due to the curved edges.

Overall I'm 2nd guessing not getting the Note 5, the curved screen is awesome looking but I think functionally you want a regular flat screen for every day use. I do wish the Note 5 was thinner though.

The curved screen acts oddly in sunlight as in when I have the phone mounted on my dashboard. They reflect light like a prism so get this rainbow effect which slightly blocks the screen, more so on the far side relative to my seating get position.

Although my reception issues were fixes I still feel reception isn't as good as my iPhone is low signal areas. I'm also very disappointed in the black face really being blue and as usual despise the Samsung logo.

I'll probably be taking it back later today, maybe swap for the note 5 or maybe just go back to the iphone. It's truly a nice phone and TW flies on it, but the ergonomics are a bit much for me.

He'd prefer it not to be there ;)

Also why do USA models have the device name printed on the back ? Everywhere else doesn't have this ? I find that very strange.
But all companies put their logos on their devices  Mine just says Samsung.

Yeah mine does too.

USA models can have carrier logo and have device name on them which takes away some of the aesthetic beauty. Here's the Verizon Note 5 for example ...

Not Apple, I love the iphones sleek black monolithic look. No gaudy silver around the home button and no logo on the front. I know I'm probably in the minority but I just really dig that stealth look.

Stealth in the sense that everyone looking at it would still know it's an iPhone ;) lol :)

I know what you mean though :)

Apple does put their logo on their devices. The bitten apple on the back is their logo

Yeah they do, I don't care too much about the back. I'd just like the front to be completely free of any branding. It's just my personal preference, I think it makes the phone look MUCH more sleek.

Alright so a couple of hours with the edge+ in the gym and I'm getting used to the sharp edges, it's just a bit of a tactile learning curve. Man the phone feels awesome, so thin and light and TW really is lightning fast on it. What's a huge plus is that it has a nano sim so I can keep my iPhone 6 and swap between them where with the Note 4 it was a chore. I may just end up keeping the edge+ and getting the 6s+ also when it comes out. Sigh, decisions decisions.
