With wireless charging on my desk at work, I leave work with my device at about 80-85% all the time.

Wireless charging is a huge win. HTC, Motorola, and Apple really need to get onboard with it. It's convenient, easy to use (just put it down!), has plenty of affordable options, and more importantly, keeps topping off your battery so you don't have to worry about battery life anymore.

I said this before, with the S6's average battery size and longevity, one really needs to take advantage of the Quick Charge or wireless charging to complete the experience.

Just further thoughts about Apple and wireless charging: When and if Apple jumps on board, they'll probably use some sort of their own proprietary standard of wireless charging. Maybe some how through the maglock charger or something...? How they'll do it, I'm not sure. But if they don't go with the standards like Qi, it'll mean more proprietary accessories for them to sell. That would sort of suck for the users as it'll mean less options.
Motorola are onboard. A number of their devices support it including the droid Max & Nexus 6 ;)

And they will be expensive. You can get a Qi wireless charger on ebay for cheap. If you want to wait to get it shipped from China , you can get one for about $5-6.

well i've had the s6 for 2 weeks now.

lots of things on here that i don't like. a few that i do.

the battery life on this thing is absolute garbage. i took this thing on a 2 week vacation and it would NEVER last an entire day. meanwhile my wifes iphone 6 faired just fine.

unless 5.1 comes out with huge battery saving abilities, i'm going back to the next iteration of iphone.

If Apple does go the wireless charging route, they will follow the Palm Pre route and have a proprietary charger. It would suck, but I don't blame them. They will control cost and have huge margins. Heck they sell 27in Monitors for $999. That's insane!

I got mine from Amazon for 27 bucks. And it's great. Charges effortlessly, and I can still see my notifications when they pop up because it's more of a stand than a pad.

Yeah, Apple's wireless charger... geez, who knows how much that would be. And it'd only be able to charge Apple devices probably.

Surprised to see Best Buy already has a prepaid version of the S6 up, but it's only the 32GB Black Sapphire version. They have the unlocked S6 and S6 Edge listed as well, but as you can see the prices are outrageous.

Not sure, the apple watch wireless charger can charge a Moto 360, so I don't see why it would be different with the phone. Apple only goes proprietary when they need or want something that isn't available on the standard.

It's going to be a while though until they can do wireless charging though, current wireless chargers cant go through metal, so unless they go back to glass it won't happen for a while.

I haven't kept up with the thread as of late. So battery life has smoothed out for everyone?

It should get you through the day unless you're a heavy user (in which case it sounds like one would benefit from phablet size phones and batteries).

However, where the magic really is is in quick charge and wireless charging. If applicable, buy an inexpensive wireless charger and you can be topping off your phone as it sits idly on your desk (hey, it'd be just sitting there anyway; why not put that idle time to use?). As mentioned earlier, with my wireless charger at work I LEAVE work with about 80% battery every day. It's great not having to worry about battery life anymore.

Or get an additional quick charger (some are also inexpensive) and top off your battery for 15-30 mins when you can and you've added hours onto your battery life.

There's also power saving and ultra power saving mode as last resorts.

The s6 battery life is what it is and it's only decent, but when one takes advantage of the wireless charging and/or quick charge, it can really shine.

Ah interesting. Didn't know that about the apple watch charger. But they aren't really calling that a wireless charger though, right?

You're right about the materials. Either apple won't adopt wireless charging or they'll have to go back to glass/plastic. And a redesign isn't due until the iPhone 7 if history stays the course. It's a real shame because wireless charging is a lovely feature. One of those things you don't realize you love until you try it (a feature that's great that you didn't realize you needed until someone showed you? Hm, sounds very apple-like. Heh).

Maybe apple will invent their own form of wireless charging that can go through metal.....

I'm still getting poor results overall sadly.

I've tried two resets - it just seems in lower signal areas with no LTE it really hammers the battery. I can only assume this is down to Samsung's modem radios compared to Qualcomm in all my other devices.

On a normal workload day with usual calls & texts and my normal phone app usage (45mins-1hr calls) I'm still only averaging around 2-2.5 SOT.

If i get a day with barely any calls (<15mins) then I can stretch this out to 3-3.5 SOT

But just can't seem to push past that barrier over a full day on only 1 charge.

I'll be blunt, it has for me worst battery than any other device I've used in last three years. Indeed my little Galaxy Alpha had no trouble getting through the day on full charge with 4hrs SOT and that's with a 1800mah.

same here. battery on this thing is absolutely terrible. people can blame google services/lollipop/whatever. i brought this phone on vacation with me mainly for google mapping and taking photos and it wouldn't even last half the day. meanwhile my wifes iphone 6 faired just fine.

who gives a crap about wireless charging. you still have to put your phone in a stationary state. might as well just plug it in since its way faster anyway.

Well for me I've just been on 3 day Hoilday in Derbyshire and had to use my phone as a sat nav but I couldn't charge my note 4 it as I travelled so battery drained badly so a spare saved me...so sometimes you aren't always going to be near a charger.

Did you have poor cell reception during this trip?

Wireless charging is an option if applicable and convenient for you. Quick charging is another. No need to hate on either.

Sounds like you need a phablet for your uses and needs.

Sad to see such a beautiful device have such mediocre battery life.

It seems the battery/power management technology is not keeping up with the beautiful screens these devices are being released with.

I personally wouldnt mind a thicker device as long as it gave me better battery performance with the crispiness of the S6 screen.

Yeah. I wonder how much more battery would we have gotten if the S6's thickness was as thick as the camera.

It's not very much at all, and obviously not all that extra space would be applicable for the battery, so... what would that tiny extra thickness buy the battery size, really? Another 50 or 100 mAh?

I do wonder.

Anything helps though, I guess.

I'm definitely not seeing 4-5 hours of SOT like many are. I'm averaging more 2-3, which is decent. But as I've said before, the main difference between the S6 and the iPhone 6 in battery usage is wireless charging and quick charge. They are game-changing features when compared to a phone without either of those two features. Used accordingly, they allow zero worry about battery life.

Just to use my personal experience this morning...

I just got to work around 10 AM with about 88% battery left. I have a solid one hour commute, of which maybe 40 mins are on the phone. Playing music through bluetooth earphones, running Flipboard, a ton of Hangout messages, browsing the web via Chrome, and checking/replying to an email or two. I should also mention it's been off charger for longer than an hour.

Now it's a little past 1030, and my phone has been on the wireless charger for the past 15 mins or so. Device is back up to 92% already. EDIT: 100% now. Not even 11 AM.

And because I'm using more of a wireless charging stand (instead of a pad), the device is upright and I can still see/get all my notifications and essentially use my phone even while it's on the charging stand.

I love it.

I understand that for those who don't have an office job or however else the wireless charging and quick charge aren't applicable, they would not be satisfied with the battery life. Those people, I guess, should really look into battery packs and/or phablets. The S6 likely cannot fill their need.

I have the usual bloat disabled. I don't use BT and NFC.

EDIT: display brightness is set to just under half then auto.

Sadly, I'm results over 3 weeks are on par with yours. I've switched back to the iPhone over the weekend. I wanted to badly to love the S6 but the battery prevented me from doing so.

Is this worth getting on the Sprint Unlimited Plus plan?

If the Sprint plan was free it wouldn't be worth it. Sprint is a cancer that can't be cured in the mobile world.
