I love that most devices are using the nano sim these days. Easy to pull in and out of devices with no issue!

S6 Active leaks are coming out.

As predicted. This should hopefully address those that need a more rugged phone with larger batteries and waterproofing.

The S6/Edge sacrifices for design, I think, remain a good decision.

Ok, calling on the phone addicts. Yes, I'm looking at you MRU, Jamezr, Epic, etc...

I've been a longtime lurker on here and only recently started posting. My addiction started when I grew tired of the iPhones and bought an M7 when it was released. Since then I've been through the M7, Moto X 2013, Z1c, iPhone 5s and 5c, Z3c, M8, Moto X 2014, Galaxy Alpha, M9 (though only for a week) and now I currently have both the iPhone 6+ and the Galaxy S6.

My wife has put her foot down and firmly suggested I stop changing phones. I'm currently loving, and planning on making the S6 my longterm (read 1yr) phone. However, I do love my 6+ and know if I give up my foothold in the iOS world that I'll be itching to check it out again.

Whatcha think? Can I make a strong case to her for me to keep both and maybe extend the period to 1.5yrs before changing again?

Help a fellow addict out!

I'm honored to be included with the likes of MRU and Jamerz, but those guys are on a whole 'notha level of phone-obsessed than me! ;)

I'll give you my take as a fellow iPhone 6 (not 6+) and S6 owner:

I think for a device that I use daily, the S6 serves me better. Maybe arguably much better.

It's fast
It's reliable.
It's simple - in some ways it's "iOS simple" to use in that TouchWiz sort of tries to be like the better parts of iOS. Double-tap to quick launch the camera feels so Apple-simple. It's a wonderful feature.

Plus, along with the larger and MUCH better screen (in your case, the 6+ screen is larger than the S6)...

Along with quick charge and wireless charging (both make a significant difference in my day to day use. With a wireless charger at work, I essentially never worry about battery life anymore)...

Along with Android's back button (no value can be placed on the back button. In fact, whenever I try to use iOS, it's shocking to me how I never noticed how inconsistent going back on iOS is. Sometimes the back button is either upper left corner, upper right, or a button center of the screen, sometimes it's on the bottom, sometimes it's a gesture to slide back... it's all over the place. Going back and forth, you really appreciate a consistent back button. It's always there. Always.)...

Along with the fact that TouchWiz is highly customizable. Widgets anywhere you want; quick settings able to be selected and positioned where you want (and two pages of it is really helpful); ability to set default apps; and more. Again, I've argued in the past, customization goes really far in user experience. It's not just about themes or icon packs or colors; it's actually about daily usage. A device you pull out and use daily, multiple times a day, to be able to customize it to just how you like it is vitally important and fun and economical and easier to use.

There are a few more reasons why I'm using my S6 as a daily driver instead of my iPhone 6. Slightly better camera (much better front facing camera. In fact, Apple's 2.1 MP Facetime camera is a bit embarrassing now), better design (in my opinion. My favorite iPHone was the 4/4S, so the glass front/back of the S6 is favorable to me. I liked the 5/5S design too, but actually think the iPhone 6 is a bit of a travesty), slightly better speakers, and other minor reasons...

Anyway, this post wasn't intended to be this long, but there you have it. Some of the main reasons why I think the S6 is a better keeper if push comes to shove and you have to get rid of one of them. Of course, the 6+ is slightly different comparison in that you'll get a bigger screen, better battery life, etc.

The few things my iPhone 6 does better than my S6 pales in comparison to the many things my S6 does better than my iPhone -- the things the S6 does better are things that are felt on a daily basis. That's the bottom line, I guess.

Good luck in your decision! I don't think you should be taking advice from MRU or Jamerz, though, on how to curb your obsession. They're bad influences! ;)

Yea, it's getting pretty obvious that the battery issues for various phones are one off issues. Every time I hear about battery life issues for any phone, I just roll my eyes.
It's all about signal imo

If your 4G is in and out stick to 3G

Your being awfully generous : ), its actually 1.2 mp which is pathetic. That's one thing apple has to improve on, atleast a 5 mp front camera for the 6S.

Call recording without root working nicely on my S6 edge.
Call recorder ACR

This finger print app lock is also a must have for the S6.

So far the performance of my S6 Edge has been outstanding. Auto call recording was always one of my main reasons to root. But now I'm thinking I might skip rooting this time around.

You list only one that is a phablet, the Ip6 plus. You love it because of the extra screen size because you prefer it for games, videos, browsing? What can't you do on android that needs to be done?

Without daily usage info, hard to recommend what to keep.

Two apps are constant culprits of hanging:

Google Play Music and Hangouts.

I'll start with Play Music... anytime I open the app, it literally takes a solid second, if not more, to finally open. Anyone else? It almost always happens this way. It takes so long, the white/gray highlight animation actually finishes and goes away before the app opens. It's ridiculous. And just in general, Play Music is just generally slow. Navigating through the menus, loading things up, etc. What gives? Does the app just suck?

Hangouts... isn't as bad, but it hangs when I get a Hangout notification, go to my pull down menu, and tap to switch to it. It just takes forever to switch.

What's up with these two apps? Does anyone else experience the same thing? Does it relate to the TouchWiz memory management issue?

Don't have the problem with Play Music. It's pretty fast all round.

Hangouts is one of the apps I disable right away.

I don't have any problems with Play Music. Hangouts takes about 1-2 seconds to load, but I only use it for USPS notifications so, I rarely open the app.

Damn... what's wrong with my Play Music then? ... weird.

Anybody have any solutions? Should I uninstall/reinstall?

----------

Does hangouts still separate SMS into a different thread?

I think it can? If you set Hangouts to be your default SMS, then it'll collapse convos into the same thing and give you a small little icon option to the left side that allows you to message either in SMS mode or Hangouts mode.

Animations seem a touch smoother
Touchwiz launcher home screen has not experienced any reloads
Standby usage doesn't seem to be an issue like it was before.

That's about all I noticed.

Woah, that finger print app lock... works really well! I can protect my Gallery now. And it knows to protect it even when going to Gallery via camera app. Nice!

After a reboot everything is much snappier, including Play Music and Hangouts.

But it shouldn't require a reboot to remain snappy. I'm guessing this has to do with the memory management issues after all.

Where is that update...

the memory issue exacerbates it I bet, but hangouts takes a long time to load no matter the phone I believe (at least 'first load'). It should be quick after it is cached in ram though
