Got the notification that Samsung Pay was active this morning. Anybody else get it?

I can't use it. Not only is my bank not supported, the few credit cards I have aren't either.

Really tested out my GS6 on web browsing & it really hit home how much faster it is than my iPhone 6 in this respect plus its ability to hold open successfully multiple tabs.

So I'm selling my LG G4 and just picked up a bargain S6 edge!

This should do me until next year, when I think the next gen will be a good step up - just got a Z5 Compact for my wife and it seems 810 is an absolute nightmare within 24 hours already.

She has already indicated that she just wants a non-edge S6.

Got my wife the non-edge S6. She loves it (apart from the battery life, which I preWARNED her about!), she's very happy.

Selling her iPhone 6!

Anyone got any useful tips for life with the S6/edge as a daily driver?

Yes buy a wireless charger and you will have no battery life problems. I have one in my office and another in my house and i am always on full charge.

Yup!

And for emergency charging use quick charge. It's saved me a bunch of times. A solid 10-15 minute charge means I can go back out again without worrying.

But as you've said, wireless chargers almost eliminates any needs for those instances. I sometimes leave work with 100%!

Yeah the battery life isnt great but I can get 3-3.5 hours sot plus with fast charging it is even less of an issue.

Congrats. I second the wireless charging idea. Very convenient feature that would surely help with her battery concerns. Don't forget to tell her about power saving modes and that the charger that came with the s6 is a quick charger. Tell her how 10-15 minutes can give her something like 40% more battery. Very helpful.

I would recommend purchasing "package disabler" from the play store to help disable those pesky Samsung apps and whatever else that are unwanted. No root required.

If she's using chrome I would also install "chrome Samsung support library" app. It's a free plug in that makes chrome browsing much faster and smoother on all Samsung devices.

I'll add more when I think of it. Little things like telling her (if she's unaware) how one can edit the quick toggle settings from the pull down menu or double tap to wake the camera all go a long way in making the device easier to use.

Yeah I bought the phone when it came out but only had it the weekend, so I've forgotten stuff since then.

I've done the Chrome Samsung Support Library thing on both our phones already, but had no idea about the Package Disabler! Will def check that out, cheers.

She is really happy with it. She had an S4 for a year after 4 years of iPhones. Then last year went back to iPhone 6 - but only lasted a year, she was always complaining about lack of customisation and the camera etc.

She liked the battery and size of the iPhone 6 but little else. Got her a brand new unlocked gold 32GB for just over £300! Good price.

I assume she was browsing Facebook or trying to text while brushing her teeth lol.

She goes through phones like you wouldn't believe. She managed to keep an iPhone 6 for nearly 10 months before she killed it. I've never seen a phone with so many scratches and dents and a nice crack across the top half of the screen.
Lol, Facebooking while brushing teeth? Some people just can't put the phones down. I have never broken a phone. My Wife either.

Gold's my S6 color too. Gorgeous phone. :)

If she's coming from an S4, remind her the S6 isn't water proof anymore!

:) The S4 wasn't waterproof, the S5 was!

I'd forgotten just how great Samsung hardware is. The build quality on this Edge is phenomenal.

The S4 was bulletproof, that was the only smartphone I've ever had that I didn't have a screen protector for.

I actually don't have a screen protector on this Edge just yet, got one ready and waiting but feeling daring at the moment!

I wish I had waited a bit for the s6 edge price to drop. I would've picked up one instead of the regular s6.

And not for the edge features -- I care little about them. Mainly just for the screen itself.

I've always said the edge screen is about it popping and giving an almost 3d effect. Everything feels like it floats above the device. Plus slide out menus would feel more natural.

Perhaps when the s7 comes out... I'll wait and try my plan then.

Otherwise, the s6 has been hands down the best smartphone I've owned, and in my opinion the winner of 2015. I haven't seen a device worthy of taking its place. The screen, the camera, the features... Just overall a great package.

More than enough to carry me into 2016 when the fun and excitement can build again.

PS. I rock my phone nearly naked. I got an Xtreme clear skin on the back and a simple static screen protector on the front. Allows the gorgeous gold design to be shown off. :)

I'm actually now thinking about selling my S6 64GB, and picking up a S6 128GB, but the international models are so hard to get.

My sister is loving her first Android smartphone, which is my old S6. She uses it as a mobile gaming device.

Yeah the edge screen does 2 things and that's it but honestly, it's just so beautiful.

Sometimes I just play with it and look at it. Really admiring Samsung for pushing the boundaries.

So guys, I've been thinking lately about selling my Note 4 and buying something smaller.

At first the size was cool, but now it's starting to get annoying. I want to go back to something like my previous phone: the S5.

So, naturally, I'm thinking about the S6 as the best alternative. Maybe also the Nexus 5X and the G4. I don't want another huge phone, but my biggest concern is battery life. I would be losing a lot in that aspect with the S6. Not interested in the Edge model, just the regular one.

The S6 would be a great choice right now second hand, but battery life wouldn't last me a full day. I'm a heavy user. The G4 has better battery, but is there really a huge difference? It also has microSD slot (I've got a 64GB microSD), double tap to wake, multiuser feature (Samsung phones don't have it, have no clue why), on screen buttons, bigger display, etc. But I know LG phones suffer lately from that brightness "issue" where the phone automatically lowers the screen brightness when used for long periods of time, and I hate that.

Doesn't seem I have much options aside from the S6 and the Nexus 5X.

Suggestions?

If biggest concern is battery life and you cant do a quick charge during the day then run from the s6

the only smallish phone with good battery life seems to be the sony z5 compact. is the g4 much better than the s6 betterywise? I would wager the 5x will be similar (you would think it would be better given the 1080p screen, but nexus seems to struggle with battery - nexus tax may erode gains made from the screen)

I agree. Unless you can plug into quick charge and/or use wireless charging during your day, the S6 for a heavy/power user will not last.

Quick charge really lives up to its name, however. Even if you can squeeze in a good 15 minute charge, it'll boost you back up quite nicely. But again, depends on just exactly how heavy of a user you are, and how much time you can spare to charge, if any.

It wouldn't be an issue when at home, obviously, but when I'm out I want to not worry too much about battery life.

Sometimes I need to use GPS navigation while in the car, play music, surfing the web on 4G, a lot of Whatsapp, etc. It's a shame about the battery life. On the S5 I had great battery life, almost identical to the one on the Note 4, but it's too big and also a little bit heavy for my taste.

I assume the Nexus 5X will have better battery life than the S6, but now it can be bought for a nice price second hand.

Don't know what to do. I want at least a 5.1-5.2 screen.

Just saw that there's a promo today and on Sunday on a local retailer here for the S6 brand new: 445€.

Is it a good price? I still worry about battery life, but that price is good.

No that is not a good price. The value will continue to fall.
