What color do you guys like the best? I was dead set on Black but after seeing more photos of emerald green I'm leaning towards that.

This entire thread is like having a conversation with the guy I work with. He thinks the bottom of the s6 and iphone 6 show no similarities.

It is insane how people can ignore the obvious b.c of their hate/loyalty for a different brand.

Well, even I have to admit Samsung finally got their 'stuff' together and made an attractive phone with premium build materials. Yes, metal and glass is less practical than plastic, but really, who wants practical? :D

I dropped my naked iPhone 4 plenty of times with no cracks or shatter. Normal drops of course. The S6 has stronger glass, so I think the glass back is only a problem for the paranoid and trolls.

Yes, the metal band bears a strong resemblance to that found on the current generation of iPhones but otherwise, the only cues they may have taken from Apple is in the build style (using metal/glass and eliminating the removable back panel). In truth, I don't think anyone can deny that they look like Samsung devices and the designs are well done. Still hate the big camera hump and the front company logo.

Apple copied heavy from the HTC One design. So it's all fair game. :D

TouchWiz however, looks like it's barely changed and for me, that would probably be the deal breaker for me. Regardless how fast or smooth it is, I find TouchWiz wholly unenjoyable to use and this doesn't look much different. That's more of an issue of my personal preference though--well aware many like TW and they'll probably find the mild refresh nice.

From the hands on videos I've seen. Samsung has left more original Android untouched than they ever did before. Even the notifications look untouched. It's obviously still heavily skinned, but it's nice to see some original aspects of Lollipop in there.

Overall, I think Samsung hit a triple to use some baseball parlance. The hardware looks great, a nice design that still is identifiable as a Samsung device. Only things, IMO, keeping it from being a home run is TouchWiz seems like more of the same and potential battery life issues (not a huge battery and a high PPI display that may crave power). Have to give Samsung props though, did a very nice job with this refresh.

I think battery life will make or break this device. It has to at least be on par with the S5.

I think Apple copied their own iPod touch 5th generation from 2012.

There are some similarities between the iPhone 6 and S6 I.e the metal edges and speaker. However if you look at the phone from the front or the back its undeniably samsung.

Where did he go?

I think he went to Forbes, as the technology editor or something ? I looked up their website, but didn't see any specific pages for Josh or some cool new gadget section.

Sucks, because Josh was great at engadget, and then the website he created before The Verge was a lot of fun, and then him starting The Verge, with a fresh new artistic style on reviewing tech was cool.

Without him, and not just Josh specifically, but his group and style, everyone else just seems generic and sort of boring in their tech reviews.

I'm still baffled by this, how the heck do they look alike any more than any other smartphone with a screen and a home button?!?! Refer to the picture I posted a couple posts up.

Lol, isn't it utterly baffling?

The bottom and sides along with how the glass curves slightly into the rim. If it makes you feel better the iPhone 6 looks like a combo of a lumia and HTC one. Don't get why people get bent out shape about it, its still a nice design.

Agreed; 100%.
Josh, Nilay, and the third, revolving, wheel could really make you think about technology and its impact on how we live. Now, there's precious little focus and the show degenerates into a mass of silliness. My biggest pet peeve is Chris Plante. He reminds me of an incontinent puppy - messing all over when excited. I just hope Nilay has a good dry cleaner.

IMO he's the worst thing that could have happened to the Vergecast. I'm still subscribed but I won't listen to episodes he's on. He knows nothing about tech aside from gaming, his voice is so irritating, he's not funny and Nilay laughs at everything he says. I find it impossible to tolerate.

The good news is that he's not on every episode and David Pierce left the Verge. Also Josh announced a new podcast but no episodes have been recorded as of yet.

Not quite. Not even close in fact. The iPhone 6 actually gets smoked across the board

Phone 6:
1GB RAM
4.7" display
720P display (326 ppi)
1810 mAh Battery
16GB starting memory option
8MP camera
1.2-megapixel front camera
Slower Charge time
10 hours WIFI use

Galaxy S6
3 GB RAM
5.1" display
1440 x 2560 pixels (577 ppi)
2550 mAh batte
32GB starting option
16MP camera
5MP Front camera
Blistering charge time
12 hours of WIFI Use

I like iPhones and I wish they were specced this good. The disparity is absolutely surreal.

The Galaxy S3 still "smokes" the iPhone 6 on paper, but in the real world it's about on par with the iPhone 4S.

Ah yes I had a feeling you would mention antenna lines. Is that all? Those are required in an all metal phone.
iPhone 1st gen had an aluminum back. So im sorry but you haven't really proved anything.

You cant deny these pictures. cmon now... first alpha and now the S6

I'm not denying anything. I really don't care who copies who. Copying is inevitable. I just claimed that Apple can't cast any stones. Now don't act as if HTC wasn't the first to come up with that sort of design. And it's obviously more than the Antenna lines. ;)

To be honest, I am still very satisfied with my Jailbreak iPhone 6 Plus, and I am a big Android Nerd too. I am totally open and looking to going back to Android, but looking for something really amazing to blow me away and take me away from this JB 6 Plus. And so far this S6 and M9 don't do it. But the M9 could possibly, once I see battery life results.

But right now this iPhone 6 Plus gives me the best battery life out of any smartphone I've ever owned, better than my old Note 2 which was ROM's and tweaked for battery life, better than my tweaked and kernel OnePlus One, and way better than my Nexus 6, and also much better than my old One M8 too.

And with all these Jailbreak tweaks, my 6 Plus operates very similar to a Android phone.

Let's see what LG brings out with the G4, and see what OPO does with their second phone this Spring ?

I agree, apple has copied others also. I don't believe to this degree though.
Anyway, I will just let this go. We shall agree to disagree ;)

Other than the fact the iPhone 6 benefits from many aspects of Moore's Law.

Your comparison doesn't make sense at all really.

I think equating the similar bottoms of the phones is quite a different beast to saying the S6 copied the iPhone 6. The former makes sense, the latter is utter nonsense.

Specs don't matter in real world settings, they are just to give Android fans something to feel good about. The iPhone 6 blew the doors off the S5 when it came to almost every benchmark test anyways. I assume the A9 going into the 6S (or 7) will wipe the floor with the processor in the S6 too.

http://www.tomsguide.com/us/iphone-6-benchmark-results,news-19584.html

Yet it was outsold by 8 moths old iPhone 5S at that time

I'm thinking of saving up to get either the normal S6 or the HTC One M9. I can't decide. :( And no, the answer isn't "get both". >_>

I will wait for real world tests, but I would guess the M9 should have amazing battery life, due to the large 2900mAh battery and 1080p screen. Plus I much prefer Sense over Tocuhwiz. Actually stock vanilla Android is my fav, but Sense would be second, and Touchwiz makes me wanna puke.

Vanilla is my favorite as well (or was at 4.4, can't say about 5.0), but I haven't read or heard good things about the latest Nexus (so that's out).

Wouldn't it be hard for you to go back to a 5" display?
