Seems there were long queues in Holland at the launch there

Pretty crowded here at Best Buy as well in the USA. I'm maybe number 25 or so to pick up a pre-ordered device.

This is going to take awhile. Safe to say that Samsung has a hit on their hands.

Yeah, I stopped by my local best buy too, and it was packed with people waiting for their phones, and they also had a pretty big case section too. It really felt like an iphone launch.

And now I'm here at the mall and as I passed by the tmobile store, i saw that it is also full with people in line to get the S6. Samsung definitely has a hit here, can't wait to see how the competition responds.

Best Buy's near me had no lines of note today. They did however not receive any AT&T pre-orders in their shipment so I saw some unhappy AT&T customers there! :)

i got the black 64gb version... i'm with telus carrier in canada... telus only installed two apps... one is for billing the other is just an app that directs you to the website.

there isn't many apps installed unlike what websites have mentioned... you cannot delete the microsoft and instagram/whatsapp/facebook apps but you can disable them, apart from that there is only s health and s voice. oh and some tools like a file directory app, a memo app and calculator, clock etc, basic ****.

i haven't installed a single app yet ( i got back to my house 30 min ago ), i went to look at the storage and how much of it is gone... in the "system memory" part it states that its using 9.06gb

9.06gb?????

also when i first connected to wifi, samsung told me there was an update, it didn't take long, it downloaded it automatically, i just had to confirm to install it which took like 1min... and then it said "optimizing apps x of 221"

221 apps? what the ****, i don't see that in the apps section... i went to look at what the **** were all these apps and it's all system stuff i can't uninstall, and it's mostly all part of android os.

the screen is nice, but i'm not sure why people here say the screen is fabulous... the phone i had before was a iphone 5... and the screen to me looks the same, apart from the resolution... i dunno what the difference in the screen is... except for the brightness... and i'm not colorblind, i actually score high in those terms of tests... sounds like the screen is so good ******** is just fanboyism... its just a screen and it looks like every other screen.

my battery started at 54% and using my phone just to simply check out whats going on + the update dropped it to 43% ... this is 30-45min of screen time with wifi... no bluetooth, no location services (turned those off immediately)

so the battery seems like it's pretty short in duration when it comes to screen time imo... it does well when you put it on standby ... but it hasn't been on standby for long.

i'm not a camera/picture addict, in fact i never ever take pictures of anything, so i wouldn't be able to comment on that part of the phone.

i haven't installed any apps thus far, but so far the phone is fast, doesn't lag, touchwiz doesn't seem to be a problem.

i noticed the samsung keyboard is very similar to the iphone keyboard, almost no difference. the clock app is exactly like the iphone app, and the finger print setup as well. i'm not sure what finger print does besides login samsung accounts (which i will never make) and open the lock screen. is it possible to use it for apps like iphone 6? or not?

that's my short review for now.

edit: what i mean by not a lot of apps installed is when you click the "apps" icon there isn't much, but when you go in ALL there is 221 apps in my phone... most of them can't be disabled and it's mostly all android os stuff.

Why do you keep spamming that in the non-Edge forum? Is reading comprehension not your forte? People are also mentioning it's under the Gorilla Glass 4 so it could be the plastic substrate for the AMOLED that's getting polished/scratched in assembly.
Clearly comprehension is not your strong point. Poster made claim that if a (in this instance iphone) device could scratch then all of them must be poor quality devices. The point i was makinf with the link was to prove that not just iPhones scratch but any phone can be scratched for a variety if reasons. That some people having scratches is still not indicative of a wider problem as they simply assert.

Do you understand the relevance now? Or should I simplify it further.

Interesting that you got the software update too. I got prompted for that on the edge myself and when it rebooted it was optimising it said __ of 234 apps. Jamezr however never got a software update.

Really screen. Likewise although the curved glass is very impressive in itself, just in regards to ppi - I couldn't tell the difference with the Note 4 or Nexus 6 QHD screens over 1080p and can't really see any difference on my edge either. It doesn't stop it being a an excellent panel but pixel wise I think a 1080p excellent quality screen side by side I wouldn't know which was which.

Ha....id take it back!

No seriously. You can delete some of the apps and disable others. It still has some bloat but it should have less TouchWiz on it. Also the battery should get better in a few days. I also like the Google keyboard, should be in the App store if it isnt on the phone.

Im actually looking forward to getting back to a Samsung Galaxy phone. I had the GS1 and the GS3.

I have enjoyed my Nexus 5 but there are little things about it that i dont care for....such as, when im on a flight with WiFi, its one phones that isnt supported when on Virgin America for texting. It doesnt work on Southwests WiFi for TV shows or Movies. Just an example.
Its great for early updates but thats it really. Maybe its because it is an LG, but i also hate the low volume speaker/ringer too.

I cant decide between the 32GB & the 64 GB.

regarding ram

i would just like to point out... with no apps opened (i pressed close all opened apps) my ram is 50% used as in 1.5gb used

i thought i could clear this ram with the samsung app already installed, but some people said its best to not ever clear ram as android needs some of the system apps opened (not apps in play store but apps you can't delete/disable)

touchwiz on my 64gb phone uses 145mb, system ui (it has a lollipop icon) uses 48mb, smart manager (which is the clear ram, storage and security samsung app) uses 58mb, messages (samsungs default) 12mb, samsung default email app 4.6mb (cant disable that one either), s finder 12mb, default contacts app 14mb,

the rest is mostly all android stuff

ps: i haven't cleared ram since i got the phone... so now i hit end all (from the samsung app) and it hasn't done much.... used is still 1.5gb, cached is 280mb, free is 830mb

active apps after pressing "end all" starts at 0... but if i just leave it open doing nothing it goes up to 18. two of those apps are onedrive and google music... now i'm a onedrive user so i won't disable that one, but i disabled google music, making it now 17...

edit: after i cleared ram... i thought it would stop at 17 apps active... so i put my phone on standby next to my laptop... and i just checked again... 38 apps active, most of them are greyed out.

That is normal. It contains system image in case you want factory reset your phone.

This is also normal. They are not the apps in Google Play store but system apps. Some of them in your phone apps drawer such as phone dialer, camera, for example.

ya i'm not overreacting, just posting honesty...haven't touched android since 2012.

i'm impressed by this phone, but i'm also being honest about it.

Little off topic. I want to get a case before i pick one up. What do they have out that some of you have got? I looked at Spigen on eBay. Just want to see more options. The one Spigen i liked had a card holder built in the back of it and i dont want that.

Honestly this phone is recommended if you at least can take a bit of advantage from the camera.
If you do not take photos at all, It sounds to me like wasting money.
On one thing this phone seems extremely outstanding, the camera. Of course the pixel density you'll never really notice it, but the difference in picture of course you will, especially if you are going to reproduce it on your computer.

So if you do not take pictures at all, i would not recommend the s6.

that's your opinion. the s6 outperforms the nexus 6 and htc m9.

the nexus 6 was simply 50$ off and the screen is bigger which i don't like, the m9 doesn't thrill me, i'm not an htc person. so what do you want me to do? get an older phone?

the s6 isn't just for camera buddy, that's like saying iphone is just for camera. how come iphone cameras are always regarded as awesome but a lot of people get iphone just for games or even just for calls? what about those who prefer iphone and pay a premium just because it looks good? don't forget those who get iphone because its simply not an android.

you're out of touch with reality. but nice try man, embrace the forums. it's a place for subjective arguments, the best kind of arguments.

here's an argument: why get a phone and not a better camera? would you pay 40-120$ a month just for a camera? or would you rather get a home phone and a 859$ camera? oh that's right, the logic is too much

Two questions...

1) Is a case really required for the S6? Mine will be here on Monday and I didn't order a case because I wanted to use it without, but some of the reviews say it is very slippery without one. When testing it in the store I didn't feel the need for one.

2) Will someone with the Verizon S6 tell me if the stock browser is included? I know Verizon likes to make Chrome the default browser, but I'm really hoping they left the stock browser on the phone this time.

1. i'd say yes, because the back is glass... and it's very slippery... when i was coming back home i didn't put my case on and the phone was on my lap... it fell on the side of the chair... the road wasn't bumpy or anything, it just slipped that easily (no scratches)

2. i dunno, i'm not with verizon... but my carrier left the default browser

Spent the day doing preorders at my job. Really long shift lol. I finally was able the get home and play with my new Galaxy. I got the S6 Edge. This phone definitely lived up to the hype. Between the Note 4 and now the S6/S6 Edge....Sammy has been killing it. Hope they keep it going.

Yes, that's my opinion, I still use to write mine.
That's a feature i pay lot of attention so my opinion is kind of biased, I admit.
The point is that nowadays smartphone are produced by many competitors, so selecting one instead of another is a bit defined but the feature you're interested the most.
You wanna good portability? You have the z3 compact
You do need to isync all your device? etc etc
So taking that phone without a using his camera you'll just will not appreciate it in one of its best features.
But as I said i am biased for the camera, that's usually the first thing i care of after the os.

Work for Verizon

I work for Verizon and all the stores were super busy today with lines. Reminded me of iPhone launch day. Not everybody was buying S6's but about half of them were. The other half were buying iPhone 6s, like usual. Samsung does have a hit on this phone and it's really good to see competition as it seems like samsung took last year off with the S5

one of its best features. also i didn't spend much money on this phone... the 64gb is 360$ for 2 year contract on top carriers in canada, i paid 100$

soooo.... **** the camera, i dont care for it. and if you want me to get another phone, the top carriers in canada only carry htc, samsung and iphone and nexus. so if i were to purchase a phone on amazon or ebay, it would cost more than 100$ i paid for this phone. why wouldn't i buy this when its the top performance android phone today?

"the camera is the feature" "so go get a oneplus and pay 350$"

makes perfect sense bud, you talk too fast.

----------

anyways, can someone explain to me how the quick charging works?

because i plugged the usb cable to my laptop and it's not charging fast... its been over 15min and it only went up 10%

You have to use the fast charger adapter that comes with the device for fast charge. Your laptop will not be sending out as much power through it's ports to do quick charge.

my laptop is a beast though. that's too bad. i plugged the adapter in a power bar... doesn't seem to go fast... its going a bit faster than laptop but its not fast like samsung mentioned it.

do i literally have to plug it to a wall? i don't have any other plugs close to my desk besides this power bar.

edit: something isn't right here, i plugged the damn adapter directly to the wall... and it charged 2% under 4 minutes, that would mean that it would take 3h20min to charge to 100%

this is quick charging? or... something isn't right

edit #2: i fixed it, it works now, the usb cable wasn't in the adapter properly, it charged from 37% to 43% in 3min

No I use a 4 way adapter extension and it's fine.

My biggest problem is wireless charging, for me its just not working properly at moment and don't know whether it's my phone or the charger. It works fine on every other wireless device but the S6 edge either stops at certain points and doesn't charge any further or once fully charged keeps waking the screen up and then going back to sleep before waking screen up again. Its driving me nuts.

i fixed it, don't worry (edited my previous post)

i don't own a wireless charger because i heard wireless charging doesn't do quick charge... so meh

Anyone using 'briefing'?

I really like they have made it quick and responsive but the lack of choice of sources and interests makes most of it's content its pulling up redundant to me. The news section doesn't even pull in news from here which is a big meme.
