as for ram there is 1.5gb free, thats enough for games.

My edge only ever has a maximum of 0.9gb free and generally hovers around 350-400mb free after i've opened a few apps (no games).

My nexus 6 on the other hand has 2gb free with same amount of apps open. In that aspect the Nexus 6 does outperform it. I find I very rarely get an app refresh on the n6 compared to the S6 edge.

That being said its clear the S6 Edge (and thereby S6) exynos chip is definitely more muscle power than the 805 chip in the nexus 6. Even when it does have to refresh it does so blazingly fast.

So you & AppleRobert are both right in your own ways :)

However battery life I find neither to be better than each other. Indeed I would say the S6 Edge battery is about same as the Nexus 6 - and neither is quite as good as the iPhone 6+ or the Note 4.

But at end of day any of these are fantastic devices - and a purchaser in isolation would have no regrets with any of them - it's just many of us here are phone whores and sleep around with too many devices we get too fussy :D

ya uh in regards to bluetooth, from what you guys listed.

i don't drive, i use wired headphones and im not sure what moto 360 is... if its a watch im not interested *googles it* yup thought so.

not useful for me however.

i think you can use bluetooth to share files from pc to phone and vice versa, so thats kind of useful.

I only use bluetooth when I get into my car for calls and listening to music in my Nissan Leaf.

so as another update... my phone has been on stand by since 5am, its now1253pm... and it only dropped from 81% to 80%

i'm curious as to when another percent drops lol

edit: 153pm, still 80%... i kind of want to use my phone now instead of waiting for another 1% drop lol

edit 2: ok it dropped another percent at 240pm

so........ 5am to 240pm = 2% drop in standby, thats pretty impressive

Well put. I just sold my Note 4 fire size reasons. Loved everything about its functionality and battery life, but basically I just needed that in a Galaxy S-sized package. That would be the sweet spot. I think 1080p would be fine, even. Just hold that Galaxy S size and get us an extended battery life.

I too opted to switch from the Note 4 to an S6. phablets just aren't good for the way I handle devices.

The S6 on the other hand is about right in terms of size. Really liking it so far.

Well I had a surprise this morning when my S6 (black 32GB) turned up 4 days early from o2 (via mobiles.co.uk). 249mb update out of the box.

Initial impressions based on my recent devices (OPO, Note 4 and Vivo Xshot):

1. Despite having spent time comparing this and the Edge the other day, I'm still loving how good this looks and feels. The black that shimmers to blue is really nice. I really grip by the metal sides so don't have issues with fingerprints on the rear glass at all. Samsung have raised their game significantly here. Probably the second best looking device right now (behind the S6 Edge).

2. Size and ergonomics are great - not too slippery, not too sharp. Like some have said, the Note 4 (and OPO) were also too cumbersome for me. I've fixed on phones with 5- to 5.2-inch displays as big enough to read on yet compact enough to use in one hand (no iPhone then). The Xshot is marginally bigger than the S6 which I'm used to. Didn't fancy the Edge after a 5s and Note 4 which could feel sharpish and it was a touch glossy when watching media on the bends for my liking (not knocking anyone as it's a stunning phone and personal choice).

3. TW is much better. No o2 bloat at all and, as an Office365 subscriber, the Microsoft apps are fine. Disabled a few Google apps but that's it. Fewer Samsung apps to so not too many complaints or need to root immediately. As for looks, I didn't mind TW before so no real gripes now as it's better.

4. Ridiculous screen. Amoled blacks = win.

5. Camera gets a thumbs up - treated on a fast-moving child. Xshot was great and this is on par if not better. 60fps video is fantastic, too.

6. Fingerprint scanner. Nailed it at last. Streets ahead of the Note 4 and on par with my iPad Air 2 (both rarely fail).

7. Misc likes: Samsung keyboard is excellent. Missed split-screen a lot. Very smooth performance. Quick charging speed is silly. TW themes and changing folder colours is a good addition.

8. Dislikes: Why no option to disable the capacitive key backlight? (I know power saving mode kills them). No app drawer alphabetical sorting?

Battery life TBC after a few cycles. I don't expect Note 4 levels but 4 hours SOT mixed use would be fine.

Overall very few issues thus far. Suspect they will sell a lot of these and the Edge.

youre missing the point, some of us do not have the az sorting which is supposed to be next to edit in app drawer. this bug has been discussed in android central forums and still no one has a clue why some do have it and some dont.

I think I'd switch to the S6 edge in a heartbeat if it had a stylus. I still don't understand why Samsung doesn't do this, similar to how Apple's ip6 and ip6+ are pretty much identical other than size.

Are you using a different launcher? I think to get the alphabetical sorting you have to use the default TW launcher.

I'm using TW launcher at moment and can't find any alphabetical sorting. I get edit option to move things around and that's all.

Hmm, mines the AT&T model and it gives me that option.

The option I found is 'View As'. It lets you sort alphabetically or custom.

i have the tw launcher as well... i'm with Telus/canada. and in earlier posts i mentioned i got the download update as soon as i connected to wifi.

soooo i dunno.

Well these seemingly regional options for A-Z sorting and disabling backlight on capacitive keys are strange to say the least. Definitely not available in my UK/o2 build.

I've manually changed the app drawer by dragging and dropping but it's tedious. Having had a Note 4 this seems silly.

Yeah, that's strange. That's another option that is available on mine too. Though I can't change the settings menu anymore, I prefer having a long list instead of having different tabs.

anyone know a good contacts app? the s6 contacts app is rather boring and doesn't use a black background. i changed my sms app to textra.

Same here - much prefer the vertical list instead of tabs so not bothered that that's gone from what the Note 4 had.

Hopefully the backlight buttons option and A-Z ordering will return in an update.

On another note, a couple of iPhoneholic friends were impressed to the point of shock when they saw it in the pub last night.

I picked up my S6 and a Spigen Slim Armour case earlier today. I really like the look of the Spigen case, it looks really sharp in my opinion.

here's two screenshots of the "hola" launcher, the app drawer is way better than touchwiz... and when you install another launcher... you can't disable touchwiz. oh and the icons and background is part of a theme... there's many different themes.

So I went to the Samsung Experience Store in Oxford Street this weekend, I have to admit the S6 is such a stunning device. I love the dark blue; the screen, the Apple like quality and the lure of what Android could possibly offer me. The problem is, I’m an iPhone guy, and have been since my Nokia N96. I remember trying a HTC Android phone and I absolutely hated it when I’d unlock the device the time would flip down and then update rather than update in the background.

The reasons against not giving the S6 a shot:

• Stability – mostly the iPhone just works and works well, it’s reliable. Overnight, the battery doesn’t drop a single point and the HD/OS are greatly optimised.

• Service options – if I damage my iPhone or it develops a fault, I like having the option to head to the Apple store and getting a replacement phone within 30 minutes – normally, with no questions asked. Even better is the restore functionality from a backup; this puts everything back on to my phone the way it was; even my apps automatically re-download with all the individual app data restored; apps are also placed back into the previous folders. It’s the same again with my iTunes music; sound settings; email signatures – everything. It’s a direct copy baring a couple of passwords that need to be confirmed – Backups are automatic when plugged in to charge.

• iMessage – 90% of my friends and family use iPhones, very easy to keep in contact globally, for free and it’s integrated. I know we have What’sApp but it’s just not the same.

• Family sharing – I share my content with my partner including a joint social calendar – I guess this could be done via Gmail.

Reasons for wanting to give the S6 a shot:

• I’m bored of being locked down, I don’t want to JB and play the cat/mouse game again – if Apple introduced a 3rd of the functionality that JB offers, they’d clean up. I think we, as consumers are changing again, we want more options.

• Interested to see what Android can offer, I’ve read good things and the OS looks impressive

• Like the idea of LED notifications/location options etc.

I currently have an iPhone 6 Plus
