Nice. How is it? How do you navigate menus while your device is in the headset?

Well I had the Gear VR for a while now, so I don't know what I'm going to do with this one.

The Gear VR is amazing. It had a directional pad on the side, back button, and volume controls. The controls feels like second nature after several minutes.

I just purchased a Moga Pro controller from Amazon that should arrive today, it's suppose to work flawless with the Gear VR. My PS4 controller works horrible with it. There is plenty of games that don't need a controller and plenty that do.

They still need to work on apps that stream VR content. Most of it is mediocre to horrible quality. But downloaded VR content is sweet.

Let me know how you get on with the controller. I tried pairing my MFI apple controller and whilst it pairs, it doesn't work properly. Have you tried PS3 or just PS4 controller ?

I am mostly using gear VR for Netflix. It's like my own private cinema :)

I only have a PS4 controller. But everyone seems to have the same poor luck with the PS3 controller too.

This is that exact one I purchased..http://www.amazon.com/POWER-MOGA-Pr...mobile_desktop?ie=UTF8&ref_=dp_ob_neva_mobile

They also have a smaller one called the "hero power", but it has less battery life.

On a Youtube video, someone shown that you can change the seat while in the virtual movie theater. Unfortunately you can't do that with the default VR controller.

I'll post back with controller results tonight. :)

Yeah, I don't get why they can't make a controller that works for both platforms.

I have a Moga Pro Power for $30 shipped new in box if anyone is interested, I have two actually

Third time's a charm.

I wonder if gs7 clones have started appearing yet. I see GS6 and Note 5 clones all the time on craigslist, no telling how many people have been scammed by them

So I shortly tested the controller. Works good with the Gear VR. The only VR game I played with so far is Temple Run VR, and worked flawless. I'll be testing more VR games with the controller later on.

I test one regular Android game, Asphalt 8 Airborne and it worked without any problems.

Can the controller be used to browse simple things like menus and web/netflix navigation, and the like?

Yes, it can browse the UI. The B button is the back button for the main UI and most of the apps I tried so far. The A button is to select. The left analog stick and d-pad is used like a cursor. The right analog stick is used to rotate left and right. Works great for looking any direction, including behind you. Doesn't seem to go up or down though, you still need to move your head for that. Basically for the most part, it's not much differ than the Xbox default mapping.

In the Netflix app, only the d-pad is used to control the UI(left analog stick doesn't control anything), and A to select, B to go back, and so on. The d-pad(left and right) also controls rewind and fast forward.

I haven't had much time with it though. All I can say is that it works great so far.

I'll play with it some more and report back.

Interesting that the Edge was a gimmick and OLED screens are terrible, yet with the mere mention of Apple releasing "an all glass design a la iPhone 4 with curves on back as well as a curved OLED screen", has everyone clamoring for the next iPhone.

I've been using it for years. You may run into an issue here and there with smaller developers that haven't optimized the controller on Samsung devices properly, but most of the time it will work as advertised.

Asphalt 7 and 8, Dead Trigger 1 and 2, Unkilled, Modern Combat 4 and 5, all the Grand Theft Auto games all work great.

Gear VR games: VR Karts, the Herobound games and Anshar Wars 2 work well with the Moga.

Technology isn't static, it's constantly evolving and getting better. Amoleds were terrible, but have gotten much better and are now one of the best. The curved screen was a gimmick until Samsung showed how it could be used successfully. No need to assume it's becoming popular now because apple may use it, it's actually the reverse, Apple might use them because they have gotten better.

Well, that can be true on some things. But I remember the iFans proclaiming how NFC was a useless gimmick 2 years before Apple included it for Apple Pay. Or how LTE wasn't needed because HSPA+ was good enough. Or how 2gb of RAM was not needed. Or how large screens were a complete waste because you couldn't use them with one hand. Or how they made fun of the Samsung Note Stylus, but now with the Apple Pencil, a stylus is cool. Personally, I think Applke holds tech back on purpose simply to keep fleecing customers of their money.

I'd like to try the 360 camera when it comes, anyone know the release date yet ?

It certainly feels that way. And that's part of the reason I don't give them my money when it comes to my smartphone choice.

Apple now is the one that needs to catch up.

I'm so exited to try VR. Kudos to the promotion from Samsung to give early adopters the Gear VR for free.

I'm sure there's diehard fanatics on both sides that feel one way or the other.

My understanding was that nfc in the beginning suffered from some security issues. I believe apples way of using nfc for ap is focused on security. Not saying right or wrong, it's just how they did it. AirDrop is apples form of wireless localized file sharing.

Lte came with the 5. It might've been slow adoption for some or even a pain point but I think it was a battery life issue with early lte chips.

The 2gb ram is nice no doubt. Other than the people here though I don't think it was a deal breaker.

The stylus I can see how some benefit definitely but the Apple pencil for now is for tablets not phones.

People are free to buy what they want with their money. I'd imagine if these past issues were enough of a deal breaker then customers would buy other products. But the data shows people still enjoy Apple products so I can assume there are plenty of satisfied customers both past and present.

I just noticed the Oculus update now lets you record and take snap shots. But it's still feels experimental and buggy at the moment, no control, no sound, and it stoping when leave an app. It's also makes some apps lag. But it's still a good start. Here's some I uploaded.

I disagree. I see a lot of people just lump everyone that likes apple into a collective, but that's not the case. When the iPhone 5 came out, a lot of people were upset they didn't go larger, and many left for android handsets and then came back when the 6/6plus came out. You also saw a lot complain about the 6/6plus being too big and hold on to their 5S, which is why apple is releasing the SE. When the 4S came out without LTE, at the time LTE was a huge battery drain so many proffered the better battery life of HSPA. When the 6 and iPad air came out with only 1gb of ram a lot of people were complaining and kept complaining until apple addressed it. And NFC really hasn't taken off anywhere other than mobile payments, I generally keep it turned off on my phones because I hate seeing that ugly NFC logo cluttering up my notifications panel.

Not saying apple is perfect by any means, but:
1. Things advance, so something may not be needed or wanted today could be crucial tomorrow (4k screens anyone)
2. People do change their minds (there was a time I thought the 4.1" screen of my Moto Atrix was perfect, and now I prefer the 5.5" of my edge).
3. All apple fans don't automatically think the same, so when one complains about big screens one day and then another apple fan rejoices when they have bigger screens the next, it isn't because apple fans didn't like it until apple did it, it was 2 different people with different wants and opinions.

There are apple fans like the ones you describe, just as there are blind android fans, but they're far fewer than people assume there are.

Where I do agree is apple holding back software features on older handsets. It's something most hardware manufacturers do and I wish it would stop.
