From what I can see there are two types of camera sensor on the S7. A Sony version which is good and a Samsung version which is duff. Perhaps that explains why some are getting poor low light pictures and others are happy?

I've read the opposite, but that the difference between sensors is insignificant. How'd you form your conclusion?

I was asking the question more than giving a solution. A quick read on my part and I don't claim to know much about this.

What do you think is the answer is to why users on Android Central and a leading reviewer have got poor low light shots? Could it be a defective batch maybe?

Just a few questions for the owners of the S7/S7E.

1) How's the microphone quality? Does the speakerphone work well? Is there any issues with callers hearing you when the phone is slightly further away? Any issues with Skype?

2) How's the speaker quality and loudness? Compared to the S6?

3) Reception and battery drain under poor signal? The S6 could drain 60% in a short period of time if it struggled with reception.

4) While recording in 1080p 30fps and you press the shutter button. What's the output resolution of the shot? 9.6mp?

5) Does the phone find Data APN's on its own?

6) What's the consensus regarding camera quality compared to the S6? I've seen conflicting reports stating either better or worse depending on who you ask.

7) Is the screen as easy to scratch as the rumours say?

I thinks that's all I have for now, thanks in advance.

1) no issue with microphone. Callers said I sounded clear. I've had no issue with skype.

2) speaker quality is OK. It's good but not great. Much the same as last year's devices, and still not as good as the likes of the Moto X style, HTC M8/9 or Nexus 6P.

3) Under poor reception the battery does drain faster, I was able to routinely get 6-7 hours SOT in good coverage, in poor reception that drops to around 4.5 to 5 hours SOT. So yes recepotion quality does impact it.

4) Haven't tried, will check later

5) Unbranded firmware (no carrier) and the APN was automatically found and selected when I put in two different carrier sims.

6) I take a lot of landscape shots. In those I do think the extra megapixels help. I've noticed my Moto X Forces 20mp for example will capture more detail in a landscape and based on looking at Photos I've taken with last year's Samsung devices the S6e/E+/Note5 all of them seem to capture a little more detail too.

However when it comes to normal focal length photos and low light there is no doubt this year's S7e is much better. Faster focus and manual controls if you need them mean you are likely to take a better shot.

In Macro mode I've found very little difference.

So overall it's better than last year's camera but not always.

7) yes if you live anywhere or are exposed to sand or grit particles the s7e screen is easy to scratch. Sadly whilst gorilla glass 4 maybe able to handle a key or knife, it's those tiny inconspicuous grains of sand and grit rubbing against the screen when in a pocket or case that really cause trouble, it's the same on All smartphones sadly. If you live in a city / urban environment you may get away without issue, if you live near the sea/coast you may have to deal with this issue and protect your device with a screen protector.

Looks like supply issues during manufacturing have lead this way, a bit like the processors in the last iPhone.
I though the isocell was the better (Samsung one) ?

Could be, maybe they left the plastic on the lens? :)

I still think always on display is one of the weaker new features but this article is a nice write up of the apparently 3 year long process of how Samsung got it to work. Sounds almost Apple-like waiting for the right tech to develop. Interesting stuff.

They will need to build on AOD just like they did for the edge panels (now so much more functional and useful). Anyway...

I'm looking for sync, not transfer.
if you are looking to sync music and playlists from itunes try isyncr from the Playstore works great!

There are others who are having the same experience to what was shown on the video.

so what are your experiences with the S7e? Because if you read this thread.....several of us have posted in depth user reviews and picture samples. Have you read those? So you have all the answers to your questions right here in this thread.

I want your opinion on the negative attributes of the S7e. That is why I asked. You have been using one for a while now, so what are the negatives?

Thank you for the reply and I appreciate it, but I was hoping that Jameszr would give me an answer.
here is your answer.......You have had your questions answered several times over now.

Apple does not allow syncing of anything with other non-Apple products.

Well as previously mentioned you can used iSync for music from your iTunes library both via USB & Wifi.

Also KIES as bad as it is, will sync your contacts / music / photos / videos with your mac.

Mic quality works well. The speaker is average. It's a downgrade compared to the S6. Even the headphone sound is a downgrade. I think is a software issue. The bluetooth sound is excellent though. Speaker is good for calls, I'm mainly speaking on music and video sound. I use Skype heavily and it's flawless.

Battery life doesn't seem to drop as quickly in poor signal areas. My S6 dropped under unusable poor signal, the S7 seems to drop at a unnoticable rate difference compared to having good signal.

I don't use a screen protector, so far no scratches. The glass feels like is has a smooth coating on it, so just maybe that's easy to scratch. I wouldn't know.

Camera quality of the S7 noticeable surpasses the S6. The S7 has much faster focus, much better low light, show better detail, and has next to none visable noise. The S6 would show plenty noise in low light and slight noise in room lighting. Both camera are excellent though, but the S7 outshines the S6.

Not sure if it finds data apn on it own by just inserting a sim. But it's easy to add data apns and toggle between then.

I'll be using Apple Music, so my playlist will be synced automatically (I suppose?). I'm looking to sync my Safari bookmark from Mac/iPad but it seems not possible.

Yeah it seems like that.

They don't care for your answer, they desperately want Jamezr to say something negative about his S7E. Lol, ridiculous I know, but that is what this website has come to, sadly.

Yup, seems that way. An odd approach for a discussion.

Yeah it seems like that.
I use Chrome as my browser...it is easier for me to use that as it integrates better for my uses. I use chrome on my iMac and MBP and iPad. It can sync all my bookmarks and passwords and even open tabs across all my devices. Even my windows VM i run from my iMac.

The Samsung Music app is still available in the Galaxy store.

Yep, it is. I downloaded it day 1. It should've been bloatware tbh.
[doublepost=1459174409][/doublepost]Do people have problems turning on video stabilization for 4K/UHD recording?

That is exactly what's keeping me on Chrome. It's tied to my Google account. Doesn't get any easier. Firefox does similar, but you need some long passkey in addition to a user and password.

I read this entire thread. Just pointing out that there are others who are having the same experience with the camera to the reviewer in the video you posted. I thought that since you posted the video, then you agreed with him. Silly me for thinking that way.

Second, I asked for your opinion and no one else's. Someone did give his opinion on the negatives, do you agree with those negatives that he gave? Are they the same negatives as yours?

i am really flattered that you seek out my thoughts and opinions like this. It really is nice to be appreciated that in that regard.
So to answer your question....no and well....no

yep even though it might use more system resources than some other browsers, it does the job i need it to quite well.
I like Firefox too but haven't used it in a while.
