Where can I enable this setting? I can't seem to find it.
If you open your dialer and access phone settings, it should be listed as an option there.
It is a region restricted feature though so it may not be available in your location.

RidiculouslyWeird question: How well would Tizen run on the S7 hardware?
And so the honeymoon is over right on time as usual.........
Going international has compromises (no carrier features (VoLTE, wifi calling, etc) and no Samsung Pay). You guys just need an unlocked US model that works on all bands. But Samsung knows very few will pay that price. Much easier to just push it through the bowels of the carriers, get some money back to allow them to bloat it. Most people don't care about security or updates. Really is all a joke.
I would love to have a Samsung S7 edge or Note 7 with Tizen to test for a whileYep.
Looks like Samsung heard me finally.....

Unlocked US model (with the Snapdragon), works on all carriers, no carrier bloat, updates from Samsung, all warranties included, Samsung pay working. They say Tmo Wifi calling workis out of the box as well. $669/$769
I have to agree with you on that. I think they should release the unlocked version at release time. But to appease the carriers it comes out months later. It's about damn time. Sadly, I'd wager Samsung will follow the same pattern for the Note and not release an unlocked version until a few months after initial launch to appease their US carrier overlords.

I'm already plotting on how to get off JoD, and perhaps go back to the unlocked world. Maybe I'll wait until the end of the year when all options are available and for price drops.
I am jumping to the Galaxy Grand Prime to get off of JoD. It's $149.99 and you can sell for around $100 so it will cost me $50 to get off of JoD on one of my lines. If you think of a cheaper way let me know!
Thinking of something similar. Jump to a device I want to try and then return it and pay the $50 restocking fee. Then be free altogether.
I'll consider it.
Does Apple do the same? I feel like I don't see unlocked versions during initial launch, but I could be wrong.
Samsung should definitely follow the HTC model and include unlocked options at launch. But like Jamezr said, it could be related to carrier contracts and whatnot.
Still, this is amazing news. One of the biggest knocks that people have is the carrier bloatware and carrier interference with software/security updates. Now you can circumvent all of that. And I believe it's the first time Samsung has done this, so this is pretty awesome.

Does that trick still work? I found stuff online about doing this earlier this year but nothing too recent. I was going to just get the cheapest JoD device and pay it in full and then sell it.
Once upon a time you had to wait a month or two for the 'official' unlocked version but no longer...they've been available at launch at least the past two releases.
Looks like it was two weeks before unlocked options became available.
Two weeks is definitely better than 3 months. Maybe overtime, Samsung will bring that window closer to their release dates.
That's the thing. $669/769? Full price now? Forget it.Unlocked versions will be available at Best Buy, Amazon, B&H, and a few other outlets.
Once deals hit, they'll be amazing unlock options.
