BTW, no August security patch, and as of yet no September security patch. Is this the beginning of the end? Is Samsung too busy? Is it Tmobile? I don't know...

I've said this before, software updates aren't that big of a deal to me. However, the promised monthly updates for security patches are.

They're probably doing the new hardware radio update for faster LTE all at once. Two promised updates between now and the end of October. If you want monthly patches, you gotta go Nexus.

I never got August update at all on mine, I ended up getting the September one very start of the month though. So it went July, September for me. I know because I spent last two weeks of August checking Sammobile to see if there was an update and I could see carrier handsets and others globally getting the august update to my frustration. So when start of the month I finally got it, it actually surprised me it was September update.

Samsung/Tmobile (really don't know who to blame) missed a month for me, too, here in the States. I forget which one; I think June.
[doublepost=1473889403][/doublepost]The funny thing is... the unlocked S7's aren't getting timely monthly updates either. So... yea, Samsung.

So after the whole Note 7 debacle, and the expense of the Pixel, I decided to plump for this.

Got an S7 for my wife - the Rose Gold/Pink colour - and it is stunning in person. I mean, wow. (Only upgrading from S6 but it feels like a solid step up).

Got an S7 Edge for myself, but it will take a little while to arrive. I think it's the right move considering the deal I got. Fingers crossed it's not too good to be true!

Any helpful tips, or is it basically the same in most ways as the S6?

Most ways its the same as the S6. There are some new options such as the display settings you can now condense the screen meaning more data is viewable inside apps (so extra lines of info on a web page for example).

Other than that it's much the same. I have the white one myself and really like my S7. Its a sturdy well built little machine and thankfully I have none of the accidental screen touches that I used to get with the edge.

The edge though looks more aesthetically pleasing I must admit.

Anyway, enjoy them .. you picked an excellent phone for yourself and the misses.

You got a White one, he got a rose gold? Those colors aren't available for the S7. At least they weren't when i got mine. I had to get a gold one which I'm not crazy about.

Yeah the white wasn't available here in Ireland either only the black, gold and one carrier had silver. I really wanted the white so had to order one from Hong Kong and flashed the UK/Ireland official firmware. Thankfully the dual sim variant which I have is fully compatible with the normal single sim firmware.

So now I have something of an exclusive version :)

I'm in the UK, but anyway got this pink/rose gold one (for my wife) through eBay.

It's genuinely stunning in real life. I'm a dude and would happily rock that colour, it just looks classy as hell. Samsung really do make some stunning colours, gotta admit.

But my S7 Edge (which I just learned is coming on Monday now, awesome!) is black. So I've ordered a skin for it, gonna give it a try to change the whole look/colour.

I am surprised they're releasing Android N given all the PR issues and hardware issues. And yes, I am aware they have different departments to work on software updates. But then again, having versatile people to flex or shift around is important since it's probably all hands on deck with the S7/S7E/Note 7 issues.

What S7 problems? Couple of very isolated issues with the S7 which is a drop in the ocean compared to the tens of millions sold. I'm sporting mine since launch and it's easily the best phone I've ever had.

bring on Android N

Yup, got the update while traveling overseas.

The s7 btw was a champ on my trip. Once again, the reliable camera experience allowed me to never miss capturing the moment. Also, the waterproofing came in super handy when it rained and I could still take pictures worry-free. Quick charge was useful too for those extended days.

Still the most worry free phone ever.

Agree. Every Galaxy ive had has been real reliable...though the very first one after two years got to be pretty slow. Im not one to go from phone to phone. Its just not me as i have other interests that cost me money....like guitars lol. I only have three and one is a real cheapy.....and i havent bought one since 2010.
I do have a hankering for another one though that will cost as much as a XL Pixel so my higher interests are elsewhere.
However, i most likely will be getting a GS8 unless something drastic just isnt worth it but with my Jump on Demand, it shouldnt cost me anything.

Must admit I've jumped from an iPhone 6plus to an s7 edge and I gotta say I'm a few weeks into this device and love it. Screen camera and the speed of this thing is wicked. I have always been on ios and still gotta ipad pro which I would never change.. I am well happy with my decision to make this change..

Using a gold S7 Edge at the moment through O2. Nice colour, but I want silver. It's a shame you can't get silver in the UK without going to carphonewarehouse.

What I have never understood is why networks have to get involved with Android. I can't get the Yahoo Finance Edge screen because I'm on O2? Yet my unlocked S6 Edge could. Very annoying.

Any deals going for the S7 Edge (non-contract)?

Went to another local Samsung repair shop and asked if burn-in is covered by Samsung's warranty and they told me no also, so that's a huge problem for me. My usage pattern makes burn-in happen in every AMOLED screen, and I don't want to change phones every year. I'd like to keep my next phone for 2 years minimum, so another AMOLED phone besides my S6 is a problem.

There's now a great deal with the S7 here. 473€ new. But this burn-in problem is huge for me.

Playing with my wife's phone... Man this thing is nice.

It does almost everything brilliantly. The step up in camera from S6 to S7 really shocked me. Huge level up.
Kudos! You made an excellent decision. The phones you chose are exemplary.

The S7 I have has been stellar from day one until the present. Months of great service.

I know you're going to have a wonderful experience with yours... :D

After having hated S3 and promising myself never to buy another Samsung product I am loving the S7. The best thing about it is the camera. Man! That thing is FAST! But that's not its only advantage...

I'm a blacksmith and a bit of pyromaniac ;) and most cameras in the phones tend to interpret heat as light, therefore making hot objects appear purplish-white. When you heat iron to cherry red temperature, on a S3 photo it would be this ugly white-purple colour. And, I'm afraid, S7 doesn't do any better... in auto mode. But when you switch to Pro and fiddle with settings for literally 30 seconds (and then save it as custom setting) you can get this:

Mind = blown. My Xperia Z3c and Z5c was better in Auto than S7 is, but I could never get flames to look half as great as this. Fantastic stuff!
