for s7 users... is there much difference on the battery life from s7 edge? honestly i dont like the edges...

I did exactly that because I too didn't like the Edges and they frustrated me in time. Now this is based on the Exynos.

Honestly I expected much worse battery as the S7 Edge was very good for me with 5-6 hours SOT average. Occasionally I'd get slightly less (4 SOT) which I think is often the random nature of battery on any android handset.

The S7 I was expecting to lose a chunk of battery, but I'm still getting near identical battery life with my usage. Perhaps 30 mins SOT difference only.

But that battery difference seems a tiny compromise compared to the difference holding a device that doesn't feel like it's going to drop out of my hands in landscape, or a device going from lots of false touches to a device with none.

Yes the S7 edge aesthetically looks better, but I much prefer using my S7 instead and no regrets switching.

Just got an update.

Must be one of the first to get the September security update

So android pay was installed with the update, however it isn't supported with my bank anyway. Also Samsung cloud is installed with photo gallery uploads....

Another thing with the new update. Alongside the Samsung cloud options.

Upday (the carrier free unbranded version of briefing) has had a major design rejig and it's almost as fast and smooth as blink feed now. The delay lag has been really ironed out too.

Still biggest issue is the lack of customisation of feed content.

Anything about the Note 7's blue light filter or AoD making its way to the S7/S7 edge? Can it even be done?

Is it there also the app data backup option? Or is that available only for the Note 7?

Blue light filter not in the update. AoD is there as always, perhaps you mean the revision with more app support ? If so no.

Samsung may add those in a bigger update (possibly Nougat) bit honestly it wouldn't surprise me if they didn't. They have never been good at bringing software features from newer devices into older even if they are near identical hardware wise.

I didn't make myself clear I think – I'd like to make Settings etc. dark. I'm very happy with Nova Launcher and what I have done to it theme-wise. I also found a lovely SMS app. It's just the Android innards that are all blindingly white.

Yeah, meant 3rd party app support for AoD. Only reason I'm not using it now.

Sucks that we may not see the blue light filter for a while. The Playstore alternatives look awful by comparison to it, f.lux (which requires root from what I understand) and Night Shift on iOS.

You can use the theme store to download a dark theme that will apply to most areas of your device. Won't affect Nova in any way. Just go to Settings>Themes>More Themes and download one you like.

Material Dark on the theme-store as I pointed out. Will make settings dark and more stock as well as notification panel :)

Welp, I am on the fence with the 32GB iPhone 7 Plus, but, I stress "but," I have to see what the tech specs say because I need to know if the new LTE feature T-Mobile USA has will be on the 7/7+.

I'm seriously contemplating the jump to the 128GB 7 Plus and I haven't owned an iPhone since the 3GS although I do own an iPad Air 2.

There is just a bunch of things irritating me with my S7E and in reality they all stem back to software for the most part.

My battery life is at less than half of what it was when I bought the phone as there is nothing that can be done to tame Android System drain. I have even done a factory reset and it slowly came back in full force. Waiting for a fix especially with the added wait times due to Canadian Carriers essentially means this bug will likely never be truly fixed.

Then there is also the Camera and it's image processing, I simply can't accept the amount of over sharpening applied in Auto mode. I am forced to exclusively shoot in Pro/Raw mode and then apply sharpening and noise reduction on my own as the phone simple ruins the shot otherwise. Samsung had the perfect balance between sharpening and noise reduction on the S6 and they threw it all away on the S7. It's not even a means of covering up poor lens quality as seen in other cheaper phones as the images produced in raw are exceptional.

I figure if I sell my S7E and my back up S6, I'll actually earn money switching to the 7 Plus and the iPhone will end up retaining value a lot better than these two devices will.

I haven't decided what to do but I wouldn't even be having this discussion if I had kept my S7E on the software it shipped with.

Down with that Samsung cloud nonsense just like icloud or any other closed system. Open and cross platform is the way to go

I just want to say that for the first time, I used the "capture more" screen shot feature, and it was amazingly useful.

I'm traveling soon and I wanted to take screen shots of all my travel documents and itinerary, etc., and it was so easy to get a giant snapshot of each document in whole.

Great feature. Never realized how useful it could be.

Does anyone know if Nougat has this?

Screen shot? How do you find that feature?

After taking a screen shot, if the app you are in has scrollable content, the following menu will appear. Pressing "Capture More" will scroll by a pre-determined amount and stitch it to your original screenshot.

Take a screenshot on a long page (home + power button). When the screenshot is taken, there will be a button labeled along the likes of "Capture More" on the bottom. It will scroll down the page and capture the next screenshot, then stitch both pictures together for you. Very convenien feature for sure.

Edit: Poster above beat me to it! Ha.
